An Episcopalian Who Became An Australian

ead of Reverend should it be Father. That is what everyone else is called.

Uncanny Priest Depiction Picture Contest

This should be your first Church Poetry Contest.
Write a poem that depicts what you are thinking
in your picture.

Saw face and wondered what Priest was thinking;
What we found is probably around he was dinking;
Wondering about what next really prefers to write;
Is certain to invite us to church with much delight.

Would arrive at conclusion about what we do need,
Must prepare profound poem for our parish to read;
Obviously Priest possessed a pleasant expression,
And did know was not example of deep depression.

What picture is not about may be of more interest
And when it we planned had become hard to resist;
Won't believe this when around he was storming,
Have heard many say that he may be a Mormon.

When this was mentioned he smiled and smiled;
By a dimwit, dumb President us he really defiled,
Instead of being famous ignoramus Episcopalian,
He had converted continents and is an Australian.

Premium Member Woman Before Me

The eyes
The eyes so piercing
Looking through you as if
You were some object
Of her anger, or excitement
Inside her clasped hands
Is her mouth, unknown
Is what is going on there
Spite? Joy? Fear?
Seemingly she escapes
The plea of being
Alone, as she implies
You are seen
And her emotion
Is geared towards you
Her hands look
Like scales of a fish
Leading you more to wonder
What exactly is there
Her hair dyed, to accompany
Her mood
But doesn’t reveal
The exact emotion
Of her mouth in hiding
Looking at you
She desires something from you
But what is it?
What does she want?

With what emotion
does she peer with wide green eyes
as her two hands cup her face?

Behind those hands with
nails painted a vivid red,
she conceals an impish grin!

                                                Just
                                               to stare
                                             in despair!
                                           Bare look! No trust.
                                             Even not to dare
                                        to protest, but to bear
                                          a horrible holocaust.
                                      Helpless witness! Useless prayer.
                                     Miserable destruction to glare.
As if her heart could violently burst.

Covered Silence

Empath whispers hold covered silence
desires whisk away with the moon
earth tone times of trepidation
dragged off and hidden in the ruin

pain stains blush red under pretense
separate flights of frighten

leaves float
frustration fills the noon
snipped strings hang
on acceptance
what's left of you

looking back forgiven specks
eyes don't lie

aspirations exhaust
breaths rest
hearts reaching past the black
gasps aghast
screams seams split in two

Premium Member Painful Afflictions

As darkness approaches,
among corrupt horizons.
To the angel in my nightmares-
no longer can I survive,
chained to such expectations.
Let me live in peace,
don't let this vessel sink.
Show me mercy and,
let this heart drown
in a thousand petals,
immersing in fragile fragrances.
So this soul can flow,
bathing in illuminating streams,
cleansing these painful afflictions.

Poems That Paint a Picture Contest

Paint, splattered. Embarrassed, ashamed
Textured canvas, screams in vain
Black ink, bled through
Joining shades of green and blue
Fingers, dipped, in apple red
Post protection, words said

Paper portrait with prisoned eyes
Trapped in time, but still alive
A look of terror, surrounded by paint
Wants free, but can't escape

Whoever the artist happened to be
He cared for his work, intimately
Hairline strokes, above her brow
For his audience, he endowed
An honest moment, expression, raw
He told a story of what he saw

His Epic Power

You can see the little corner of light,
back behind the shadowing cloud.
If man were not so self-centered,
we would recognize that which is so proud.

When I see the epic sky above
the land so stark and alone.
I see the hand of the Lord
Overshadowing all that has been done.

The strength of His hand is there to see
if you will look with both heart and eyes.
His fingers cover the entire sky
as we await the rains of His surprise.

His hand out stretched to cover all the earth
  from horizon to horizon above.
Guarding the world He has made
in His abundant love.

When I see the power of His greatness
in this epic show of His hand.
I think of the wonders that await
for us, how they must be so grand.

I feel sorry for those who do not believe
  in Him or His Son.
But where would power so great be
had He not said, "Let it be done"!

For in these images that we see
we can feel the strength of a mighty rod.
More than that in this epic I not only see,
I feel the hand of God.

Premium Member A Mother's Love

A mother's love:
    is a warm embrace.
        It is bed-time stories,
           and pancakes for breakfast.

A mother's love:
    is kissing a boo-boo,
        making the hurt all better,
with a cookie and a hug.

A mother's love:
    encourages what is good,
        discourages what is bad,
           and always forgives.

A mother's love:
    is unconditional,
       unforgettable,
           neverending.

A mother's love:
    is all encompassing.
       It's a cozy snuggle,
          on a cold winter's day.

Poertsoup

Poetic words flowing so naturally,

On this soup of aesthetic candidacy,

Epic verses releasing from one’s soul,

Touching the heart of young and old,

Radiating love with each comment,

Yare ideas to be shared in our convent,

Soup filled with ecstasy and despair,

Optimistic outlooks eager to be shared,

Unbelievable stories from people all over the world,

Poetic words now unfold from the minds of both boy and girl.
