Muddrocker, the moose, crossed the reindeer’s picket line
He’ll be okay, father reassured mother, he’ll be fine.
Dasher and Vixen wanted to scratch out Muddrocker’s eyes.
Santa was thrilled to see him on Christmas Eve, no big surprise.
Reindeer were pouting and snorting as sleigh drove away.
Santa realized he needed no more reindeer on this sacred day.
Fired them all after Muddrocker took him all around.
Reindeers’ wives left them too, we all soon found.
It’s not fair! Said Rudolph, they needed my nose!
Apparently not, said a new reindeer named Mose.
Santa and Muddrocker had fun that wonderful night.
And children were amazed by their terrific sight.

Elves were on strike, it was Santas worst fear
Sick of long, late hours and forced Christmas cheer
Sick of being on shelves
What to give to these elves
When they only work one month in the year....

The picket line’s a lonely place
With just two of you there
Fighting for a membership
That doesn’t seem to care.
Two members turned back;
Just two, no more.
Most of them slipped quietly in
Through the hidden back door,
And quietly slipped out again
And we saw them driving by
Funny how none of them seemed
Able to look us in the eye.
We stood there with our picket boards,
Were snapped by the local press,
But we lost that action ,
The carnage not made any less
For the lack of any backbone
Must have made the management laugh
And very shortly afterwards they started
The decimation of the staff.
I had to swallow my pride,
For ironically at the end
I helped negotiate leaving terms
For most of my blackleg friends.
And in case any wonder
Just to let you know
I was one of the first
The company decided to let go.
Less than two years later,
Lacking any Union voice,
The rump that was left was
Given the stark choice:
Self employed status
Or clear your desks and go.
Not being vidicrtive I resisted
The urge to say I told you so
The picket line’s a lonely place
With only two of you there
Fighting for a membership
That just doesn’t seem to care

I don’t want the white picket fence
I’ll take the one that’s weathered by time
Bent in a way that gives it character
Bordered by tall grass and wild thistle
You might rest your elbows on it after a long day
And smile at the sunflowers I planted
Because you know that when their yellow heads grow too heavy
They’ll have something to lean on

Today’s News Tomorrows Blues
David J Walker
Off white
Black typed
Picket fence newspapers
Stacked in racks unread
Everything said
Yesterday
Made news today
Everyone who bled
Or bruised made news
In the official records where
Only the dead are
Laid to rest in the haze of the
Obituaries details
Scattered like ashes among
The ads of mortuaries
On the next page the movies
Remind us of the lives we will
Never know
But let’s go to the show
And forget about life
Until tomorrow’s edition
Is put to bed

Never seen a fence I didnt want to climb..
walking around all hungry without even a dime.
nothing to big or too small,
to short or too tall, I new i could climb..
seems like when it came to that white picket fence..
I lost track of time..
how it got its fame????
but i see how it got its name..
On the other side, they said we are to blame..
The greeters in white sheets, and came with their treats...
With bombs in their hands, we were praying at their feet..
never seen that side, of the white picket fence but if i do , i would expect they would want the same hospitality????

Wood picket fences and outdoor fairies
a dreamy place where everything is made of
light and grace
the flowers seems to breathe of their own accord
here in this magical place of open air .
Residing in silence, soft and inviting
are the birds of the air, meditate and leave
all worries behind , come live in harmony
with the trees, the flowers and the
wood picket fences...
From this natural habitat I share my poetry with you
communion with me now in stillness and quiet
plenitude...
Thank you for being part of my world today,
soon the sun will arrive and shine its ray
and the moon, it will be just a memory
for you and me.

I am offended;
That you've placed me here;
Nailed upon two-by-fours;
Tacked up by metal spores;
Attached to this space;
Adhered to this place;
Picket Fence
What sense does it make;
Surrounded by natures landscape;
I walk around in pickets;
3 inches to 8 inches wide;
While in statue 6 foot to 10 foot high;
Surrounding my privacy-protecting all that be;
Picket Fence
Spiritually connected
Spiritually nail to a post
I'm attached to a host
At surrounding space
I'm in this space a fence
Surrounded by the nature of God
I'm a picket fence surrunded by Christ

I wander by the white picket fence
I wonder, what if I met you sooner
Would we have fallen in love in those years?
Filled with energetic times of joy?
Would we have been too young to understand?
What it takes to make it true?
A bond that lasts forever, sacrifice at best
I know my heart has not grown older
With all the feelings I have today
It beats along with my loving dreams
I am still who I am, through all this time
Along the picket fence, I wander
With my thoughts of reflection too
When this fence comes to an end
My dreams will carry beyond the bend

This is my sunset home
Forever here I roam
I can't escape these memories
The waves that throw me in the sea
To rise above the flashback tide
To know there's nowhere left to hide
We only eat from the aimless streets
Statistics seem to see what they want us to be
Meet me here in this broken place of stone
Don't pretend to know the pain I've always faced alone
You'll never know the looks they give or laws they want to pass
You'll never feel the sobering truth; to know your heart is made of glass
It's not the hateful things they say
It's not the threats thrown in my way
Sometimes I hate myself just like they do
A life unlived full of regret will never quite be out of view
So tell me you know how this feels
Tell me again you support my cause; like you're the one spinning the wheels
Don't give me pity and offer acceptance
Be brave with me for once; get off that white picket fence

A girls dream of love
A quest for a man
To know her every whim
And hold her held out hand
The pictures in her head
The dress, the ring, the date
Depending on the man
Why should she have to wait
The house, the dog , the kids
The white picket fence
Just like the stories read
Fifty years of hell and bliss
Till one of them is dead.
