I love to have fun.
They like to call me energizer bunny.
Because of my red hair?

Your Very Self

Are you normal? Are you silly?
       Are you pretty?

       I forgot.

Are you peppy? Are you earnest?
       Are you ugly?

       I forgot.

So it is neither here nor there.
You do not need to be aware
        of names and labels, categories.
You are your Very Self you see.

Disco Music

Strobe light looks like moon-sun.
Halo lights of red, blue, yellow, green.
He wears classic Saturday Night Fever white.
She has a white flower in her hair,
head and hips swivel;
one-strapped red dress.
He points with hands over head.
Ballroom floor bittersweet-blue.
Celebration of disco music.

I was dressed in strapless purple.
Burned my bra.
This stamp doesn’t nearly catch
the falderal - not the nasal and falsetto
of the Bee Gees, nor the confident swagger
of Tony Manero. I will survive, my motto.

The couple on this stamp look too happy,
too peppy, maybe preppy, almost ‘50’s.

I remember the crowds, the loudness,
the vulnerability, the period; that Mom
had me ask Dad for money to go.
They let me. Strobe light shadows
of chiaroscuro amidst flashy night.
The stamp is too clean cut.

The Happy Prayer

God help me be cheerful, delighted, elated and glad.
Help me have one of the best day I've ever had.
Father help me be joyful, jolly merry and thrilled.
I know this can happen, because it is your will.
As Your child I'm blessed, blissful and delighted with glee.
Because Father that's how you created me to be.
Lord make me perky, peaceful, pleasant and pleased.
So they will notice the the peppy, perky, chipper person in me.
Once they notice I'm tickled, flying high and walking on air.
I can tell them "it's God! Trust him, because he cares!"
Lord, from this day on, help me to not be the same.
I make this request of you, in your Son Jesus name!
Amen

Premium Member I wil take Bears Over Preppies

The ones who are preppy seldom seem peppy
They appear alone and aloof, if they smile it’s a goof
They dress in dull clothes, stick out their straight nose
Put on snobbish airs, I’d rather spend time with bears

Shades of Darkness

Shades of darkness shrouded me
Ever since you left me alone
Lost all happiness I had known
Shades of darkness shrouded me

The sun has stopped shining bright
The moon and stars have lost their glow
Life is dull and going slow
Shades of darkness shrouded me

No more walks we have together
Where once we walked hand in hand
No more talks we have forever
Our love didn't withstand

Shades of darkness shrouded me
Where once the rainbow did shine
Where I loved you and we were fine
Shades of darkness shrouded me

Here I am sitting all alone
Thinking of you and only you
I wish my heart were made of stone
My love, adieu

Oh, how I wish your heart were mine
For mine is shattered battered bad
Oh please wipe away all my sad
Shades of darkness shrouded me

{Inspired by Gordon Lightfoot's "Ribbon of darkness" song. I never knew that a song could be sad and peppy at the same time, till I heard this beauty.}

Premium Member My Greatest Performance

This tale of my greatest performance
many may think insufficient and small.
I learned a lesson: Don't give in to chance;
if you want something, give it your all!

This tale occurred way back in seventh grade,
when everything is either do or die.
I led cheers in sixth at another school,
and was one of those chosen to now try.

The jury was the high school Varsity.
The competition: lovely Jannance,
who won EVERYTHING so easily
we other three stood barely a chance.

I would act like a cheerleader should be:
peppy, happy, and be sure to yell loud.
Jannance went first and softly spoke the cheer
She wouldn't be heard above any crowd.

Well, I cheered like there were no tomorrows,
and, later that day, I learned I had won.
A lesson I've kept through smiles and sorrows:
We can leap hurdles in life's distance run!

Premium Member Where Do All the Pooh Sticks Go

Where do all the Pooh sticks go, you lovingly selected,
dropped in the water, on their way? Then ran across the bridge
to witness how they fared, alone, without your guiding hand.

All now slither, out of sight, eager in the rippling stream;
dashing, tumbling, burbling to experiences; wondrous and new.

Wonderlust will end too soon for some; a moss-grown boulder,
old, cantankerous, will add some budding sticks to others
whose passage it has stalled among the rotting vegetation.

Others careen carefree past, carried aimless by the stream,
just going with the flow, attracting others in their wake.
A peppy school of sticks along with twigs and leaves, some trash,
washing wastefully along wherever water takes them.

Some will find their place; a home for butterfly, bug, or toad,
adding to a beaver's dam or a poke-stick for a child.
A purpose ascertained; a voyage happily at close.

Sticks don't always have a choice; it's where the river takes them.
But hopefully, a few will reach the sea; their journey's end,
and wash up happily, retired, on sun-soaked Spanish shores.

Premium Member Amanda Lou Babysitter With Boo

Vibrant vigorous vexing virginal vampire name of Amanda Lou
Could transmogrify, materialize, reincarnate and shapeshift too.
Other trick-or-treaters would get a shimmery, shivery, shocking shock
When she changed from a vamp to an imp to a fairy on one block walk.

A charmer, this darling girl named Amanda Lou, so she enchanted them.
Changing from ghoul to ghost to witch to Frankenstein again and again.
She was incredibly peppy, hilarious, and fun to be with on Halloween.
Mothers stayed home, and let her walk their children finally, her best dream.

No one bothered kids when Amanda Lou was on babysitting watch of the wee.
Bats, snakes and enemies of state were scared of her power you see.
The quintessential guardian for all of the tricksters on Halloween night.
When she walks with them, you can actually feel a perpetrator’s fright.

As a giant spider she once ate one perp’s head off and spit it into a ditch.
Turned into a cauldron and burned up a mean-to-children-gingerbread witch.
Amanda Lou is not to be messed with, made fun of or annoyed in any way.
Want to tease children? Better pick another vampire, another day.

Premium Member Effervescent

She is sparkling, scintillating, lusty, vigorous, peppy.
He was interested at lusty, but pretended indifference.
Zingy, zippy, vivacious, animated, high-spirited.
Okay, I’ll do it, he told his sister, acting reluctant.
She had set him up with dates before. They never worked out.

He arrived at the restaurant ten minutes early.
Still, she beat them there. She was pretty, and lively. Fun.
He laughed at her stories, and she listened to his.
She told him great things about his sister, and he shared too.

She was everything his sister said, truly effervescent.
But her drink was too carbonated, which made her gassy.
She was horribly embarrassed when overcome by the
Bubbly, frothy, foaming, bubbly stuff. He liked her for that too.

In the Midst of My Garden

In the midst of my garden, I stand there,
watching the spirited squirrels,
busy in savouring pomegranate flowers

In the midst of my garden, I stand there,
seeing the peppy parrots,
tasting the hard guava fruits

In the midst of my garden, I stand there,
watching the red vented bulbuls,
happily collecting the sun berries.

Amongst the enchanting scent of ixoras
and the mesmerizing songs of robins,
I stand there in the midst of my garden,
with heart full of ecstasy.
