Shades of Darkness

Shades of darkness shrouded me Ever since you left me alone Lost all happiness I had known Shades of darkness shrouded me The sun has stopped shining bright The moon and stars have lost their glow Life is dull and going slow Shades of darkness shrouded me No more walks we have together Where once we walked hand in hand No more talks we have forever Our love didn't withstand Shades of darkness shrouded me Where once the rainbow did shine Where I loved you and we were fine Shades of darkness shrouded me Here I am sitting all alone Thinking of you and only you I wish my heart were made of stone My love, adieu Oh, how I wish your heart were mine For mine is shattered battered bad Oh please wipe away all my sad Shades of darkness shrouded me 10th May 2023 {Inspired by Gordon Lightfoot's "Ribbon of darkness" song. I never knew that a song could be sad and peppy at the same time, till I heard this beauty.} Contest: Gordon Lightfoot inspiration Sponsor: Robert James Liguori

We both seem to write about sad events. Loved your poem better though.
