So You Want To Become a Poet

So you want to become a poet,
Before you have a crack at it,
Before you try to fit,
I give you these tips to help you become a hit.

Read other poets by all means,
But remember their dreams are not your dreams.

Sometime poems come in streams,
And sometimes they end up on the floor as paper reams.

It is ok to write for yourself,
And leave a poem unposted on the shelf.

Making a correction,
Can sometimes change a poems direction.

Poetry is no different than other things in life,
And overstating your case can sometimes result in strife.

If you stick at it you will soon come to realize,
The right mood gets one closer to the prize.

Lastly, fun,
Gives one a longer run.

Premium Member To Bake Or Not To Bake

Cakes, cookies, brownies, and pies;
Scones, pastries, muffins, and tarts;
Biscuits, bagels, and bread: Oh my!
Creating these gifts much joy doth impart.
I don’t believe I’m overstating the part.
So very few folks alive grasp this gift.
Life is all about what you bake of it!

I'm on the hunt for comprehension.
Furthermore, I'm on the look for attention.
Life may be tough, and there's no success.
From the standpoint of one's mental wellness.

Rainbow wishes for kids with tolerance
Guardians have encountered an inconvenience
Our actions drove the world absurd.
When youth fade, It's ideal to be furled.

Overstating the pertinence of the real world.
What do you view promptly when you look around?
Parents wish you had been a kid for a longer stage.
You're guilty, but you can't undo what you've raged.

Your hair and eye color reflect your likability.
To recognize your skin and dress so lovely.
You're unique in shape and appearance.
You're not the same as your twin if you reappear once.

In the meanwhile, be patient where you are.
And continue to do that same dedication spar.
"Let's bear the costs and act forward with anything."
You have merely started living out your true calling.

My good poet friends are pals of mine
A day without them is a day without sunshine
May be overstating it a bit
But our friendship won't quit
Until forever our hearts are entwined

You Taste Like

You taste like honey coated love
And I am sweet on you,
And your heavenly musk
You taste like the most flavoursome
Citric tangy fruit,
Your the sweetest taste, ain’t that the truth
You remind me of the fresh morning dew,
You are the kind of taste I’d always choose
You taste so wholesome, no wonder I love you,
You are my health food
I don’t want to be rude,
But angel, believe me,
I’d eat you, in an instant,
And I do not have a clue
What side could accompany,
Such a perfect taste as you it’s true
But you’re a beauty to digest,
Believe me when I say you’re the best,
Try to not get angry,
Try not to get vexed,
I am complimenting you
In everything you do,
You taste to me, simply way too good
Succulent and tasty,
You are the food of the God’s to sate me
You are the perfect taste in the creating,
And let me tell you this my girl I am not overstating,
what is true.

A Raisin Raiser Waiter

You could make paper paving pavements as a pavement paver,
and take that paper to a rave and rave like a raving raver,
save behaviour you savour and say to the saviour to save ya,
lose weight so the waiter waits less and waits more for more to waiter,
exaggerate hatred that's stated and overstate the case
whilst you raise praise to raise the raisin raisers wage,
then tie a lace and race with pace to first place and deface the stage.
or...…..
you could save your wage from paving pavements and savour the wait as you save for a case of raver behaviour with pace overstating hatred for a raisin raiser waiter waiting to wait on an overweight weight weigher disgraced in their weighs and way of racist that defacist de stage, man.

On Wings From Before

Say it…
  without overstating it

Mean it…
  while feeling it more

Live it…
  as a mantra then gifted

Transcend it…
  on wings from before

Some guys are cut out for retirement
That certainly doesn't apply to me
If I had my druthers, I'd still be working
This is surely not my cup of tea

Used to be such an active fellow
Was hard at work twenty-four seven
Up until virtually all hours of the night
Now I'm lucky if I make it past eleven

This poetry site is my saving grace
Without it, I'd surely go berserk
Well maybe that's overstating my case
But you get it, I thrive on work

Perhaps there's a big surprise in store
I'll inherit a million big ones
From a distant long lost cousin of mine
Seems I'm getting a little too much sun!

Premium Member His Eminence

A hairy and cranky old man he's become
Sucking on one thumb, the other up his bum
Now that's overstating things
His words still have ring
Since being elected, his eminence Mr.Trump

All P-Soupers are good friends of mine
A day without them is a day without sunshine
Maybe overstating it a bit
But our friendship won't quit
Until forever our hearts will be intertwined

In the Passenger Seat

Not all music soothes the soul;
I find some downright grating.
At times like those, a wish for silence
Isn’t overstating.

I’m really not a fan of rap
And opera’s not my lingo,
But rock or blues or classical
And certain jazz – well, bingo!

Yet even in my chosen genre,
Some songs I can’t take
And when my husband drives,
The music choice is his to make.

And so I often fall asleep
To music that’s a bore;
The savage beast within me
Just can’t take it anymore.

The easiest solution,
Which will help my spirits thrive,
Is to commandeer the radio –
But then I have to drive!

Words Repeated

Some things go without saying
So it never needs repeating
When your heart is overstating
Every word that it's preceding...
In promise's you may make to one
That filters through to many
As honest as your stake in some
With meaning if worth any....
When you know the one you must
Much deeper than their skin
You know that every word to trust
Will come from deep within...
And if you need to hear again
What obviously is true
Then maybe you should not pretend
The issue isn't you ...
And if you doubt my sincerity
Then it's you who must not know
What you need is not more clarity
But the belief that makes it so....

Dream House

I have built
a house on the hill
of dream

We both have craved about it
overstating the travail it was taking us
to get things done, but in reality
I was more impressed by the swift
and gentle tempo of our hearts

We unpacked boxes
of chocolate memories
The welcoming blinds grappled
with sea wind breezing in

Last night, we greeted
the quiet hill
with our breath panting from such usual rite
into the contentedness of desire

And the stars photographed
our blushful thoughts, engraving them
into the house
that we both wished

Best

Some semblance of a minding hide,
a love, convicting with deride,
from channels overstating pride,
I quiet my thought to listen's chide -

And quietly hearing, lose reside
of badgering from some ego's tried
to faith in truth, not fortune's pried -
resumption of ambition's ride.

As best would give, give thee aside
some faint adjourn, if it could stride
away from clamor's endless bide -
I fade contentions for confide.

As best would have one moment shied,
I turn my life around, denied
that thee might win accusing's lied
and know true self - thy besting's plied!
