Overhead Poems

Premium Membersomething big and black flew overhead

something big and black flew overhead
we both looked up, the dog and I
wings unlike a butterfly
it flew back up into the sky

a wasp? a wisp? a tiny bat?
I’ll never know, but it was thin
a black dragon fly, a dragon cat?
something with a touch of red.

Premium MemberAnvil Overhead

An anvil hangs above my head
Life trudges on in silent dread
Watching waiting for the drop
Another day it doesn’t stop

In restless flux I float unknowing
Another dawn the coffee’s flowing
Aroma thick thoughts start to stall
Waking slowly but no rest at all

An anvil swings with quiet might
Still no relief no end in sight
Same routine a looping thread
Each thought heavy in my head

Coffee brews the mind delays
Trapped inside a familiar haze
Is this just a bad day’s theme
A nightmare stretched from a dream

Or is it simply will reprised
Endurance cloaked in thin disguise

Caterpillar Wisdom

"If I were meant to soar up there with you,"
said the creepy caterpillar to the colourful butterfly,
fluttering by overhead,
"and not stay crawling earthbound here instead,
I would have been born with wings,
and it will be over my body when dead,
akin to a murder of crows,
before you'll get me up
in one of those
funny-looking flying things."

Cloud Burst Overhead

I want to get my feet wet
I want to bury my hands for years
I never meant to see beyond
I am bound to travel back to the unknown

I want to leave here, never to return
Hang on, I never meant to get this deep
Headlong into the cloud burst overhead
I want to watch the rain form over my skyline.
See the droplets travel down the glass for years
Hang on! There is no way of escaping it

Into the clouds overhead, feel my soul burst.

I want to get my feet wet,
feeling it…
I want to bury my hands for years,
digging the earth.
I never meant to see beyond,
my years…
I am bound to travel back,
not knowing it…
I want to leave here,
never to return.

Into a cloud burst overhead…
I want to get my face wet
I want to bury my feet in the sand!
I never meant to see beyond, my years!
I am bound to travel into the unknown

Leaving this reality…
                       in a cloud burst overhead!

What Some Pharisees Overhead

All that we had encountered
Of God, Fear kowtowed to.
Yet this, for sinner's relief
This, piteous, soaked through
Are we, here and now, told is
That face,the very same
Behind all that skied displeasure;
A vengefulness to name!

Overhead

Overhead

    As the low sky cleared
the lost ducks took to the air
    looking for the clouds

Dark Cloud Overhead

I used to write love poems..
Until my heart became invaded by the night
I used to love to find a home,
Until shadows filled the light
I used to be a golden boy
But now I hate the colors greedy sight
So many things in me that have become faded
And now it's the end of days inside of me that I fight

The sun will no longer give it's light,
And the trees will holler songs of strife
As the world burns and turns
Like a roasted marshmellow on a stick..
Bitter sweet to the teeth with a sticky plight.
This is the end in sight
Losing hope
As a dark ressurection becomes nigh
I drown and flush my worries and sorrows inside my head
Turning up the volume on my playlist that numbs me
While I lay restless in bed
But it keeps ringing just like a old saying that said
Never allowing me to let my guard down
And echoing hot inside my head

                                   where no prayers are left

The Storm Overhead

The storm ovehead

A storm is brewing in the dark of the night
You can see the flashes in the distance of the light so bright
In the very distance of the night lighting up the sky
Sometimes It will be here very fast and other times by and by
With the lighting zig zagging through the cloudy countryside
We sit and count till the thunder comes to where we abide
Just to find how long we have before we have to hide
A sky that’s lit with many shades of blue, black, indigo and white
In it comes with the flow of the tide and up the rivers so tight
And so it goes round and round and often you can feel it hide
Reappearing just when it is time for that ebb tide
At times its far away and others just overhead
Thunder shakes all around and especially the garden shed
A storm is something people can really hate
As it can really frighten them and make them quake
Others will stand and stare in wonder at the frightening glare
And be at total peace with the elements and totally unaware
Of the many dangers that may be had standing there

Moon of Red Way Overhead

Look up in the sky and see
A sight that is so pretty
Spectacular and really bold
It's as rare as finding gold
Once in a while it will shine
A beautiful new design
Lighting up the sky so bright
A circular red moon light
That takes viewers breathe away
Disappearing in the day
As we say goodbye until
A new red moon comes up the hill

Premium MemberBlack Clouds Overhead

There's black storm clouds outside
and if they should let go
it won't be rain reigning down,
it will be the ice cold snow.

Ominous and black the clouds
that blanket the sky overhead
and if their flurries they let fly
I think I'll hide in bed.

Black clouds hover overhead,
threatening and dark.
Time to go find the shovel in case
Old Man Winter leaves his mark.

I do not mind the rain too much.
It has it's uses , true.
The snow has no appeal for me.
I'll be glad when winter's through.
