Premium Member Word Salad for Dinner

Eating your leafy words
Is wise,
Not absurd,
Not a vitamin guise.

Sweet logorrhea of crimson carrots
And great golden potatoes
With blueberry beauties
Nibbling newborn walnuts.

Sage sachets invoke lucid lentils lore,
Rosy resonance forevermore.
The tastiest side salad awaits
With vanilla visions for all my mates.

I'm coherently linking leafy greens,
A poet's realm of vegetable things.
Linking lavender to raspberry resonance,
Merry mustard seeds, and petite pumpkins.

Starlit sunflower seeds are swirling
While the ivory cauliflower is boiling,
And raspberries on broomsticks baffle
The mischievous umber mushrooms.

Those who eat dinner with me
Will digest split pea poetry,
A discerning dinner with glee,
Filling our carefree cups with timeless tea.

The Country Fair

A Ferris wheel, a magic show
And lots of games of skill,
Food trucks filled with fried or frozen
Fare were on the bill.

Exhibit halls with quilts and varied
Goods, all made by hand
And huge zucchinis shown
With other veggies from the land.

The rides and games and food, to me,
Held little in appeal,
But animals from local farms
Made it a worthwhile deal.

The cows and goats and pigs and sheep,
With every barnyard sound,
Were stretched out in their pens, relaxed
Or nibbling around.

They all looked clean and healthy
And quite fat (except the goats),
With ribbons on display they earned
By gaining judges’ votes.

As a New York City gal
I wasn’t dazzled by the fair,
But the chance to see those critters
Made me glad that I was there.

BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While nibbling on French croissant so fine,
Audrey sipped coffee, feeling divine.
     She struck a pose, twitched her chin,
     The staff oohed, awed, gave a grin,
At bunny who dined with glamor and shine!
“Oh, daaaarlings,” she said with a flair,
“I’ll nibble on pink pearls, I swear!”
     “I’m Holly Golightly,”
      She said most contritely.
This dazzling bunny made Tiffany's rare!”
*"Breakfast at Tiffany's" is a 1961 romantic comedy film directed by Blake Edwards, starring Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly, a quirky socialite in New York City. The film is based on Truman Capote's novella and explores themes of love and identity. (Source: Wikipedia)
Premium Member Idyllic
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart."  Hellen Keller
Snow-tipped mountains ranged around the prairie,
Small rivulets wavered down the steep sides,
Spreading nutriments, flourishing flowers.
   Bright red poppies, and yellow celandines
   Swayed all around, as a balmy breeze blew.
   Aiding agile grey geese gracefully glide.
   Above the shade of a cluster of oaks.
A few old men tended a flock of sheep,
Most chewed unleavened bread, nibbling on cheese.
Till to a tavern they'd go, to drink beer.
PROCRASTINATION
Procrastination is a devil
Feasting on our time
Nibbling at progress softly
While our plans plan other plans.
Again and again we barter
Trading now for later
Bargaining with time for time
Waiting for a tomorrow that never comes.
It whispers in kind tone
Luring us into delay
A labyrinth lined with comfort
Where lost moments hide and stay.
Again and again we promise
To begin when stars align.
But that tomorrow stays a myth
A ghost we chase in our minds.
In the Mouth of Desire
        touching me
     your lips, your tongue
   chalice
filled with sweet fruit
we’re no longer friends
when we sup
lovers
once again
we can’t
get enough
  sucking grapes
nibbling red apples
     tender, the nape of neck
  at
eureka’s urging
lively little lovely lithe lambs
merrily milling around Marty’s Milwaukee
nibbling nutty Nabisco nuggets
outstandingly joyful and childlike
prancing prettily like playful petite ponies
Cool to create
The muse has no hushing.
My voice needs no shushing,
A baby boomer scribbling,
At my brain, muse nibbling,
Cool to create,
Thoughts i relate,
While world is yawning,
 I write in the morning,
Verbose or terse,
My muse here in verse!
Premium Member Scribble Scrabble Dribble Drabble
Scribble scrabble dribble drabble
What is that scratching?
I still myself and listen
Is it coming from the oak tree or ground?
A tiny but gorgeous fluffy caramel mouse is in my leaves
I watch her or him or they
She is nibbling on something
Her tiny hands are exquisitely pretty
I leave her to it, thinking I have never seen such a creature
Scribble scrabble dribble drabble
The oak tree winks at me
Life is great in the country today
Destructive Solitude
One foot stuck in the tar pits of my way,
A fossil forming with time,
Me and my nibbling conscience,
Sinking slowly but it’s mine,
Whispers like razors,
It’s trouble, the way that i’m jogging
Chasing shadows far into the night,
Every step a hopeless confession,
Nothings going save me or stop it,
A runaway rhythm,
The horizon taunts, distant but sure,
But my feet only know forward,
Seeing everything through my stained glass,
Too afraid I can only hope it will pass.
Premium Member Jack Files
Nibbling carrots strung from sticks
Jacks Hee Haw is heard for miles
He often shows off all his tricks
When he does there's lots of smiles.
These are the Jack ass files.
Give him your hand, he'll take a lick
Just before he leaves a pile
But Jack's so cute, lovable and slick
He is living the barn yard style
These are the Jack ass files.
               27
there are twenty-seven
ongoing wars at present
we have not evolved
we've just gotten better
at killing one other
               27
doesn't include gang warfare
we have not evolved
we don't share
we take from one another
               27
involves weaponized rape
unbridled {torch}er
the checkered soul of the taker
we have not evolved
              27
       mature wars
dozens more in the fetal stage
we have not evolved
we are a species of enraged takers
shameless pain pushers
the soul of slave traders
              27
       universal sins
Where the Hell is God!
amidst all of this mess
              27
            wars
                      civilians removed
from resources
parched and starving
the people who start wars
nibbling caviar
fornicating
beneath waterfalls
             27
           wars
we have enough arsenal
to forever quiet
our blessed solar system
Premium Member Three Minute Madness
Oh, time you furry bastard
Nibbling at my heels
Chasing my dreams
Into dark alleys
Mugging the moments
Placing deadlines on life
Refusing to allow
A moments peace
To conspire
And believe in the hope
Of a day
Devoid of time’s terror
Of waiting for a sunset
To soothe
The angst of a shrinking moon
Quiet the shriek
Of the hungry birds
Invite the coyote
To walk the city streets
Looking for a dinner companion
As I tuck myself in
For a restless night
