Crystal clear stream
As if in a dream
Listening to its flow
Slowly awaken from her daydream
Drenched and invigorated
Way beyond what she anticipated
Hopeful even during adversity
Her faith has germinated

Contest : A 1 to 8 Poem
5th place
Above the pristine, blue lake mountains stand
Shrubs and yellow flowers surround on land
Could this be heaven? Garden of Eden?
Reflection in water is of God’s hand
I visit here to cast the world away
An inspiring way to spend the day
My pad and pen are toted to this site
Where I’ve time to think beyond society’s fray
For you will find no conflict at this site
And often I linger here through the night
Nary a creature has threatened me here
Nature in harmony, such a delight
Written for John Freeman’s Rubaiyat contest and based on his lovely photo of
nature’s beauty.

Gods’ Secret Spot
Oh snap, look what my eye done seen,
A limpid pool reflecting gold and green,
Behind are some peaks, reaching for the sky,
So clean, so pristine.
A little red shack sits on the edge of the plot,
In this land, what you have is what you got,
Life uninterrupted, pure, uncorrupted,
Gods’ little garden, in Gods’ secret spot.
Look to the north and what do I see?
Mighty peaks looking down on me,
But the true wonder of this day,
It’s presented by God, and it’s totally free.
So, when life gets you boiling hot,
And you are bewildered and emotionally shot,
Just remember the serenity you received,
While visiting God’s secret spot.

Which part of earth do I stand?
An exotic heaven etched by His Holy Hand!
Heart leaps and wriggles beneath with rapture,
spirits go high to dance in this exquisite land.
Behold!beyond the heavenly waters, the seven towering hills,
with poetic words my heart fills
where to glance foremost ,thereof I know not,
they hold me captive, with their picturesque stills.
Hues and shades of green and yellow,
prosperous and breathtaking this land so mellow,
unsolicited luck or a surreal dream,
hardly can I believe, this poor little fellow!
Crystal clear the water that flows,
reflects the endless sky and Sun that glows,
zealous zephyrs frolic with pine twigs,
glances with plea at the plunging auburn disc and reluctantly blows.
Cloudlessly stand the sky so high,
birds still perch down, unwilling to fly
from this dreamy land of eternal beauty,
and love and harmony,secretly I whisper,'so do I'!
Beside the rugged beauty of weathered peaks,
Pines and Aspens, from its shadows, speak.
They tell of era's gone and of changing times,
the coming of man and his God he seeks.
The tranquil lake, that gives life to all.
The changing colors, from Spring to Fall.
The birds that fly, the deer that roam,
from the mighty Grizzly to ants so small.
Beauty surrounds, if your willing to see.
God, need not be such a mystery.
He is there in the mountains and in your heart.
Nature, is His way, of speaking to Thee.

Placement: 3rd
there lies in lovely mountain glen
protected from the harsh north wind
meadows of such gentleness speak
volumes of love from those therein
provide life with abundant scope
promising peaceful love and hope
cradled beneath snow covered peak
food for bird, man and antelope
the Fraser fir, long is its shade
among the trees deer parade
hidden beyond a pristine shore
lies this protected alpine glade
the call of whippoorwill and dove
perfect blue of blue sky above
a home among all this and more
I’m sure, also filled with His love

The sky overhead a delft blue, solid and true
lay over a lake glacial of a pristine hue.
In its reflection a bounty of yellow broom
joining earth and heaven, a marvelous venue.
A forest of staunch evergreens stand like statues
protecting mans homestead from the wind's avenue,
all strands of the wide Universe upon God’s loom
celebrating the beauty of natures virtue.
Ringed about by mountainous alpine retinues
reaching upward, toward heaven, so one may construe
that each of us waits in His earthly ante-room
praying our hearts are not too filled with rue.
Here in summer’s languor, no words could ever tell
Beholding beauty such as this, would cause the tongue to swell
Where the slopes of other valleys, or longing lakes afar
The heart feels quiet sympathy, they cannot compare as well
So overcome with majesty, and tranquil peaks of snow
The stillness of a mirrored lake, unlike I have ever known
If heaven could be so beautiful…Dear Lord, please take me now
If heaven’s gate, is such as this, I would not hesitate to go
Noble beauty the landscape embraces
Dignifying these mountain faces
Trembling water begins to ripple
Through this divinely painted oasis
Off in the distance an eagle takes flight
Circling left then gliding right
Dipping down to catch and feed
Soaring into the broad daylight
Nature's majesty here is so rare
Bejeweled shards of crisp,clean air
Breathe in deeply and heal your soul
In this magnificence lose all care

Standing high in the mountains, looking down
Seeing the lake dressed in a yellow gown
Reflecting rocky mountain peaks behind
The valley a collage of green and brown
Imagine the delight for men of years gone by
Finding this place untouched by human eye
So much beauty their hard earned reward
Prayers of thanksgiving lifted on high
I wonder if Lewis and Clark stood there
A journey of discovery for them to share
Finding a northwest passage their goal
Accompanied by Sacajawea, maiden fair
The passage they never were able to find
But wrote of plants and animals of every kind
In thinking of the wonders they had seen
Perhaps one blue mountain lake came to mind
Tranquil hideaway_ halcyon water
A peaceful place for adopted daughter
His special child, who loves the glistening
On leaves, blooms; thanks accepter
Mountain trail; Spirit accompanying
Pastoral scene my Father listening
His loving hands are so very gentle
Words so loving come, none are abashing
Being at this place not accidental
Total faith in Him; no abandoning
Thanks for harmonious soothing corner
Gentle hands, voice, His Spirit abiding
Interlocking Ruaiyat
Thanks for the challenge:

I gasped at what had been concealed,
Its beauty suddenly revealed.
A bit of Heaven come to Earth
So awe inspiring that I kneeled.
The blended hues of gold and green
Enhance a most enchanting scene.
I drank it in, God’s artistry.
No man’s cathedral so pristine.
No other human was around,
My heartbeat was the only sound.
It seemed created just for me,
This bit of Eden I had found.
I stayed until the end of day.
Reluctantly I turned away.
That glory I’ve not found again.
Please lead me there, Dear Lord, I pray.
one of multiple first place winners
The sweet smelling morning bright
Awed by the mellow colourful sight
Of this paradise on earth
Nature dressed as a mystical sprite
The dewy air and shimmering dew drops
Fragrance rising from the flowering hops
The chirping birds on the shore
Stunned traveller along the way stops
Mossy ground overgrown with vines
A daisy in her yellow gown shines
Stark mountains look on with pride
And drink this lovely morning’s wines
God’s pure gifts sing out his hymns
His kindness this sheer beauty claims
Sapphire sky dance over the sapphire lake
Vibrant nature no living being could tame
The sapphire blue of the sky
Beyond the mountains, reaching high,
Is mirrored in the lake below.
A serene view to the beholder's eye.
An abundance of blooms surround
The mirrored lake, so still and sound.
The tranquil scene invites us stay.
A most meditative place we've found.
Majestic beauty God has created,
Free for all, not privately gated.
Relax here and give nature praise.
Free your soul to feel elated.
Mountains of ego and pride
Water where stars collide
Trees perfectly placed to add flare
Your soul becomes free not tied.
The love of the sky rests on us
The blue creates such a fuss
White blanket draped over to cover
Added detail always a plus
Together nature forms this art
It's painted with such heart
The intelligence of nature unleashed
To appreciate, not torn apart.
