Mathew 5, Me 7 (yrs)

Morning chapel
padre preaching
all new to me
came here for a natter
see what’s there to see
every hell has its angels
he don’t know ‘bout angels
how they fight
thrills of a motor bike
chariots o’fire
if he say he do, s’not true,
he aint read the manual
don’t know what a spanner’s for
he just know we threw it in
an’ it don’t work

	I’d run out o’ booze
	drunk as a lord
	awake till morn
	got no comfort
	I ain’t weak
	disinherited me
	had nothin’ to give
	always empty
	it ain’t right
	raised hungry an’ thirsty
	plenty o’ scrapes
	showed no mercy
	weak for a tart
	love n’ leave
	that ain’t odd
	yeah, was picked on
	fight for me rights

they be-me-attitudes
an’ I’ll not change
bless ‘em they try
‘n they try
I’ll never change

if heaven is gained
through suffrin’
I’m in

man-ah never found
streets paved with bread
much less with gold
I looked for trouble
‘n found it
there ain’t no justice
tain’t no miracle
that’s why I’m here
tain’t no miracle

Better requires

Better requires less of the bitter,
And more of the Guinness.

Better requires less of life on a platter,
And more serious efforts to clean up a mess.

Better requires more reason for a natter,
And less reason for chatter that is meaningless.

Better requires more use of brain matter,
And less use of fixes that are useless.

Better requires more names that are dapper,
And less numbers that give only errors to address.

Better requires wallets that are fatter,
And less taxes for the mad hatter to bless.

Better requires more home runs from the next batter,
And less coaching by those who are clueless.

Better requires less glass to shatter,
And more children to progress.

Better requires empathy in quantity, more than a smatter,
And failure to appreciate the opposite sex, a sign of weakness.

Better requires more waste turned into matter,
And nature, to fear less.

Better requires perfect people to scatter,
And those who strive for better to be free of stress.

Better requires kindness not to clatter,
And envy to be no one's mistress.

Premium Member Mingle

The delights of strolling through green parks,
to observe pristine lawn and serene pool,
interact or mingle with fellow ramblers,
share the joy of radiant sunshine,
and warm cheer induced by conversation,
sparked by kind stranger one never dreamed of,
nor imagined at the onset of a morning,
whose divine agenda set by vivid sky,
one might eschew whilst awash with visual,
scenic trees, shrubs, hedges, beget relish,
but without human contact and shared slant,
adornment on footpath, green pond insert,
quaint but charming cafe whose gourmet fare,
espresso sip and muffin tinted natter,
recall of vintage episode now whetted,
with zeal, zest, and zigzag zip,
a textured fabric of city grandeur,
bookstore whose friendly staff ooze warmth,
that well nigh impossible work one seeks,
or some shrewd advice from chance encounter,
Oh the joy I feel when I mingle

Grey Days

Shades of grey cascades on rainy days

Petrichor reigns after each pitter patter

Radiance of earthy fragrance does flatter

Teardrops down panes.. splitter splatter

Fades to whiffs chiding riffs spit scatter

Forever about weather they do natter

Seems the one thing that does matter

Flowers cowers at showers which batter

Tiffs as petal in fine fettle does shatter

Down trodden by a sodden mad hatter

Raised bed fed on shed drops clatter

Spoils for alluvial soils a pluvial platter

Some veg in tatters others seem fatter

Folks chitter chatter.. prefer the latter

Cumulus nimbus nimbly flitter & flutter

Sunrays grasp after a last gasp stutter

Sliding gliding riding wooden shutter

Rasp of uncouth din off a roof of tin

Staccato rinse & repeat beat does utter

Burgling drains & gurgling in the gutter

Huddles of puddles cuddle and splutter

Parched Earth’s skin softens like butter

Mother Nature's own homegrown nutter

Folks groan have to clear up soaked clutter

Mumble prone to moan but not a tut tutter

Mustn't grumble need the tumble they mutter

Escape

What do you lack, they say.
I lay, when they sway!
Ask me, why this misery?
A trifle poet's mystery.

I carved my path here,
Not questioned, nowhere near.
Spare me the little life I have,
They consoled, Oh! Child be brave.

Love alone is not enough,
The crowd in this ambience are slough.
In now I drown,
Lost and now I frown.

Rejuvenates skin once and twice,
Running after victory being rat and mice.
I craved a natter,
Though I'm not yet better.

Prevails wait for peace to come around,
An embrace as heavy as a hundred pounds.
A wail emerges to eradicate this agony,
The soul tore itself free the atomy.

The blue demands more,
Shattered hearts and bones to the core.
Yet, I can't see the vein,
Damp eyes, quivering hands, hiding the pain.

Hobnobbing With The Hoi Polloi

With a stiff upper lip and old school tie
still it's just not cricket
but the upper crust they say
are on a sticky wicket
to pay the estate or make ends meet
they have conducted tours
of stately homes safari parks
and the family jewels
we used to go to Scarborough Southend-on-Sea
Bognor Brighton Blackpool
have fish 'n' chips for tea
but now for fifty pee we natter
with a Duchess or the Duke
for half a quid a cuppa
with a true blue-blooded bloke
as they're all skint like me and you
there's not a lot a poor Lord can do
but bite the bullet and enjoy
hobnobbing with the hoi polloi

Premium Member Chatter

It may be just chatter
Or maybe a natter
Sometimes it’s a clatter
Of sparrows in bush.

Whatever the reason
Regardless of season
None ever lacks voice
Whether sad or rejoice.

They all stay together
Whatever the weather
If one goes elsewhere
Then others go there.

Like family and friends
Some go round the bend
But never abandoned
Always kind understanding.

Maybe we too could learn
Never others to spurn
Stay together we must
Same ‘Children of dust.’

Premium Member Roosters From Another Creek

Urban jungle roosters,
born-again scarecrow,
to untutored city eyes,
tawny pipit stonewall nester,
jet black Inca dove bereft,
of dovetail on a croque monsieur,
idle bone grub crawl,
mother hen to sandy brown,
and velvet bill gazer,
from an nearby creak,
recent rural migrant now,
a tree house side kick,
chickadee a late date sitter,
on this air flock beaky natter,
or tweet between the ice float,
edgy grey day species wield,
their sprightly ruffled feathers,
as an orthopaedic surgeon,
and their spatula when scraping,
rancid bark off windmill elm trees,
gastric bugle trenchermen ahoy,
while ogling a fellow common redpoll,
oh these tummy rumble diners,
will zoom in on every gourmet,
tangled wire mesh feeder station.
round and round they’ll fly,
on zesty mission beetroot,
a cock-eyed scavenger‘s delight,
are they siblings of a noble order?
white tale mountain bluebirds swopping,
habitat for granite boundary habit,
off key off discordant choirboys,
six sided snow bird chorus,
ear splitter for tardy wakening,
they cheep religiously as if,
their only valid creed was,
window squinting prayer meets

EGG SHELLS

What has happened
To the masses
Trying to pretend
We're put into classes

Does it really matter
Who you partner with?
To whom you have a natter?
What advice you give?

Are all lives the same?
Don't you want peace?
Maybe no one's to blame
For past atrocities

These egg shells are weak
Careful where you walk
They act so unique
sensitivity as you talk

To quote Raye the singer
In her classic hit
Society is an index finger
Pushed against your lips

Afraid to speak
Afraid to post a view
To walk the streets
With attacks from the few

Am I going crazy?
Down the rabbit hole I fall

This Eat Me, Drink Me moment
Which I can't consume at all

Whispered voices in the darkness
Where the Cheshire Cat may grin

A land of strange afflictions
Where the hands of time don't spin

Late though to the party
Where the teapot may be cold

Land of over-sugared pastries
Heart shaped; tempting to the soul

The tapping is relentless
Queen of Hearts is at the door

Though the risk of being headless
Doesn't stop my heart's rapport

The twins are set to argue
Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee

Head or heart perspective of
How this story's meant to be

The rabbit checks his pocket watch
As time ticks on.. twins natter

The dawning in this dreamland is..
I'm madder than the Hatter

Premium Member Uncle Datter Wanted a Splatter

platter fell out of cupboard with a loud clatter
mrs mczatter nearly ceased her weird chatter
my uncle datter stopped eating his chocolate cake batter
grandma slatter asked me "what is the matter?"

Platter was metal, so it did not break or shatter
mrs mczatter resumed her incessant pratter
natter and tatter argued who had to pick up the platter
datter wished it had been porcelain "so we would have had a splatter."

Let Them Judge You

When you stand up and speak for the things you believe,
Or you show what you feel; wear your heart on your sleeve.
When your thoughts and opinions don’t follow the crowd,
And you’re brutally honest and say it out loud…

Let them judge you.

When you work extra hours for no extra pay,
To ensure the job’s done by the end of the day.
When you cover a colleague who’s often off sick,
Or tolerate bosses who get on your wick…

Let them judge you.

When you finally snap cos it’s all got too tough,
And you throw in the towel and shout, “I’ve had enough!”
When you storm off and leave everyone in a daze,
Muttering and commenting about your odd ways…

Let them judge you.

Let them judge and opinionate, gossip and label.
Let them do everything better than you, if they’re able.
Let them build you up, put you down, doubt your ability.
Let them chatter and natter with puerile hostility…

Let them judge you.

You know who you are, for greater or lesser.
No need to retort or to be the aggressor.
Their thoughts, words and deeds will judge them in turn.
They are feeble, and immature and not your concern.

Us, Introverted

Us introverted

I had a snack bar I saw myself as the “Main Host”
talking to people being verbose and popular
something I was not patently cut out to be.
On an opening day, I hoped no one would come
and if someone let it be one at a time, no such
luck, many came buying soft drinks and burgers
I smiled and smiled, spoke gibberish and hoped
the customers would leave; haven’t they a home
to go to? Bothering me with natter.
When the café was full, I left the counter hiding
in a corner, wishing I had a Valium.
I looked up in the phone book to see if there
was a club for the insanely shy people could go
there had been such a club, but naturally, no one came
 they were lurking outside, thinking
of going in but feared there might be many people
I knew of a man who had a used furniture shop
when customers came, he hid in a wardrobe until
They, thinking the shop was empty; needless to say
he couldn’t pay the rent.
After days of suffering at the hands of my phobia
I got a woman to front the counter while I cooked
and cleaned the dishes.
No, I’m not the “Main Host,” we can’t all become what
we dream of becoming.
