The Circadian Shadow

Let the brief time be cast away,
Let the movable thread be loosely handled,
Let the shadow be cast on you,
Let the water flow over the distant edges.

But when you know you’ll never get the wanderer back,
Even as you cast him off,
When you tally the drifters,
They’re all misplaced and undone.

The Moirai will let him go,
Because, you know,
You only need him when the lights are burning low,
And sympathy wears veils no daylight wants to show.

His shadow is turning into a gyre,
Spin after spin;
Wearing lonesome attire,
Only his body is the circling machine.

His dreams come slow,
But they go so fast.
Perhaps they were never his,
Just echoes in the gyre’s turning shadow.

Pencil Sharpener Woman, from THE WOMAN WHO COULD EAT WOOD

Pencil Sharpener Woman

Her shapely metal figure was baby blue,
but there was much more to her.
She sharpened all grades of pencil lead
with the greatest of whir.

Her movable face plate with pencil gripper and human features was, as commented by most
library customers,
the opposite of gross.

She was very fond of
customers of all colours, of all sizes, the dented,
and, of course, of all classes. ‘Your love of reading keeps you learning,’ she often complimented.

Unfortunately some customers
weren’t fond of her at all though,
and they demanded that
she be let go.

‘Why? Why? Why!’
was her only reply.

When her haters returned books late,
and refused to pay the small fine,
anger and hate
she felt for their stupid action and whine.

So to teach them a lesson,
on the front desk made of pine,
when the whiners sharpened their pencils she shut off her automatic stop mechanism normally fine,
turned her hand crank as
rapidly as an equine,
and her sharp blades
ate up their pencils just fine.

Sprawling in America

Trucks hauling away defunct Malls.
One city has been transported to another,
until superimposed, only the name are different.

Freeways chase endless miles,
looking for more things to shift,
shlep and shoulder.
Ninety per cent of everything movable
is assembled by 100 percent of new renters.
Oil, cattle, and inflammable gaseous toxins,
are handled by cab radios, satellite commands,
and shredding rubber.

The main drags compete to be anonymous,
wear the same masks, many disintegrate
or morph into closed forever signage.

In the concrete encircled,
whittled-down woods,
lovers try to imagine a better place to live,
one that is not yet on the road.

Wheels unstoppable
Enabled inspiration
Determined
The gentlemen called “WHEELCHAIR LOUIE”
He lifts heavy weight to keep in shape, and not look like an ape
Wheelchair Louie is into Wheelchair Bodybuilding to compete in Bodybuilding shows along with his brethren
Wheelchair muscles of the fittest
He trains at “ENERGIZE GYM” to work out and enhance his muscles into proportion
Transform and intensify growth
You would find wheelchair Louie posing in the mirror using his own wheelchair for support
Analyzing structural and definition in his muscles
Wheelchair Louie doesn’t see a handicap as he sees the will to try
Being movable and encouraged with a pursue and winning spirit
One has to give him merit in his efforts in not settling on his circumstance, but devoted to accomplish like anyone else not in a wheelchair
What is Wheelchair Louie’s advice for those in a wheelchair, Exercise and break all barriers of doubt and bring understanding with every try in accomplishing whatever your heart’s desire with a promise of fulfillment
Give Wheelchair Louie an applause in his quest for standing on his
solidarity and eyes on his own victory.

Kiddish

Visited a posh shop on soft toys
for little babies, girls, also boys,
too crowded with lots of noises.
Got enchanted to make best choice.

A dreadful tiger was walking free
to move its neck just ninety degree
even capable to climb a tree,
      operated by strong battery.

       Yellow patches boldly glittering
Deep dark black brown stripes brightly shining,
       large eye balls glowing glistening,
       short fluffy tail waving, wagging.

       Chewing, grinding on movable jaw.
Forward and backward was throwing paw
       Alternately hiding, showing claw.
Also broad frightful yawning I saw.

Sharp teeth, scarlet tongue, stuffed in soft foam,
It can snore, it can roar and can roam.
      I developed cute kiddish syndrome
Tempted to buy and brought it at home.

A House of Romantics

Our cat is a Romantic, and a creature of habit.
she demands to be fed at the first
rosy light of dawn.

I awake each morning &, being
a benevolent god, feed her breakfast as the sun
bathes her white coat in coral sunlight.

The kettle boils with fresh water for hot green tea.
I sit outside each morning, a creature of habit, too
to read a book, sometimes fiction, sometimes

poetry, lately, A Movable Feast. Spring has come
out of the depths of a cold winter & moored in
the port of our city.

Its cargo exploding at the seams, pollen fills the air
& my nose runs: distracting, disarming, annoying.
I set the book down taking my wares inside.

My girlfriend is a Romantic, too, it would seem. Though
she does not eat at the first rosy light of dawn. Instead,
the next day, taking my seat on the porch in the cool spring air

my nose beginning to drip, I open my book & right where
my bookmark used to be she had placed three folded tissues.
I suppose she has made me a Romantic, now, too.

I blow my nose at the thought.

Bridge

I think of my ancestors building you,
Tying and placing tree-trunks, like girders, in queue;
They constructed you, then, with stones,
Twisted, turned, criss-crossed, hung, dangled in zones;
Road bridge, railway bridge, gate bridge, bay bridge,
You  resembled longest and tallest mountain ridge;
Clapper, beam, truss, arch… you became suspension,
Cantilever, cable-stay, movable, floating, and high-tension;
How fond designs you are in, today, like miracles,
Magic of marvelous magicians waiting for oracles...
Travelling from place to place, and meeting people,
You build up relationships from valleys to hill steeple;
Though, through you, communication is continually created,
Has communion betwixt hearts clemently elated?
Connecting, interacting, do you construct relations?
Beyond hills and cliffs and national foundation…
Socialization, cultural extension, and environs easy,
You’re sometimes breezy and other sleazy and queasy...
Cognition, senses, sensation, and sensitivity,
Once broken impulsively, aren’t you in vainly pity...???

Taking Stock

TAKING STOCK

“STOCK” – the bits and pieces of accumulated this and that – with tags!
Strings of memories, and far off debt, and a sea of medicinal prescriptions rustling
In a cobweb bound table draw which needs as I do, a repair, “STOCK” then glancing across
Boxed books and movable immovable objects piano, Dresser, TVs, and three different pale green
painted splashes of a future make over or fast fix.
Toffee -less tins stacked and not open, and only thoughts of toffees in them, and photos taken long
ago, I think! Dog eared edges caught under the lid, - then impatience digging out the bank
Statements, lots of cash for a rainy day, there have been many floods, and the cash is still here.
Cars and sheds and kids, and dogs, and clocks unwound, AND laptops, alone in sealed boxes.
And all this Stock for a bonfire down at the crem! And - relatives.

Premium MemberSchool Desks, That Fly

My desk was constructed of
genuine wood, with seat attached.
No, not movable as they are today.
Highly polished with an ink
well, as we used fountain pens!
Books? You lifted the top
and in they went.
We had leather schoolbags
that went below.

Later, when I was a teacher,
they were light as you see today.
Since I taught in the wildest schools,
misbehaving pupils used them in
fights,not for play!

At these times, chairs became objects
of flight.
To the students' joyous delight.
I'd dream of the days of yore!
When children were well-behaved and had
morals that counted ever so much more.
And desks were nailed firmly to the floor!

George Bernard Shaw,
A critic with a vein of comedy and language, quite raw;
He wrote in a movable shack, he liked photography now and then,
Ladies man, died at 94, cremated and planted in his garden.

Premium MemberHello Technology 2021

We play share your stories on Zoom and GoogleMeet.
They have terrific stories, and their siblings are bouncing in the background.
We see paper airplanes fly through the air; their videos are exciting!
It is so much fun to be able to see our grandchildren in this way.

Sure Mom and Dad forget they are on there. They are busy, not seeing.
Telling their children to settle down, while I am riling them up, getting them goofy.
It is not the same, but it is something. We play chess sometimes.
We both have a board. We have to pay close attention; it is fun.

Sometimes we play “I spy with my little eye”. This is a challenge for sure.
Luckily they have a movable camera, so they can move it around.
Pretending they are helping us find “it” when they are actually not showing it to us.
Zoom, Skype, GoogleMeet, FaceTime. Thank you technology for saving us!

Premium MemberTry Something New

Remember not being able to reach the pedals?
I have been making the keyboard much more work than it needs to be.
A movable keyboard, but I did not readjust my thinking about it until today.
I slide it to the edge of the desk. Making my life six times easier.
I have been overreaching this keyboard for five months.

Look around. What are you doing to make your life easier?
It’s admirable and fine to do something differently. Take a risk.
Change things up. Try a new way. Try a new hairdo. Try a new hair color.
Try making a new friend. Meet them for supper. Surprise them and pay.
You are old enough to reach the pedals now.
