     If Pearl misbehaves
     throws fits, rants and raves
     What of the parents who raise her

     If Johnny can’t read
     or do simple math
     What of his teachers who instruct him

     If Darryl kills a man at age 14
     After robbing him blind
     What of the system which releases him too soon

     Where’s there no supervision or accountability, little teaching, less review
     the quality products turned out number between zero and a few

Premium MemberBlackbirds And Wildflowers

My mind’s where fairy tales reside,
where a mote and castle collide;
A prince on a porcelain steed,
running away with him I’m freed;

Maybe a kingdom made of waves,
it’s wily princess misbehaves;
Locked inside it’s turbulent walls,
‘Anywhere but here!’ her soul calls;

When the darkness closes my eyes
I open them to salmon skies;
Blackbirds and vibrant wildflowers,
reality my daydream scours;

He and I doubled with laughter,
soak in romance ever after.

Premium MemberBustling Brainwaves

Bustling brainwaves bring it to life
better when both eyes are blanketed;
Hyperactive insomnia’s strife;

Gears inside feel like a hamster’s wheel,
it keeps going and going won’t stop;
Blinking and scanning I have to deal;

Bedrest blatantly bombed before dawn,
I need sleep but I need to stay up;
Marred by my mind the moonlight is gone;

Listless I sway through the night and day
I’m always a step above the clouds;
Words burst so fast much to my dismay;

Stars out, on queue my pen misbehaves;
I succumb to me and don’t backtrack,
branded and bombarded by brainwaves.

My Demons

My Demons

My demons I feel them creeping in
I can’t let them take over and win
The anger inside, the violence it craves
I hate when my body misbehaves
It’s all a blur, I just let go and everything crashes
I grab my fists, break down It all happens in flashes
I try so hard to control it but it’s built up pain
Then the trauma hits me all over again
I try not to be like them but its all the same
The yelling, and hate it’s such a shame
I tried so hard to not act like my parents
But being stuck with them in this lifestyle
It will never end until I get out, and witness
Life for what it should look like, beauty, and prosperity.

Premium MemberBy and By

I run on a super busy beach,
high up the summer Sun misbehaves;
By and by pause to build sand castles,
nearby is ice cream but I smell waves;

Carefree I just play through every hour,
Aye!! Seaweed stuck all over my skin;
Fatefully fall asleep with a pail;
Sea daze leaves a blistered burn again.

Dripping with the salt of the waves
I lie back on the beach and inhale;
The energy of the night misbehaves;
Crystals shine in the moonlight
illuminating the path the sand paves;
Rules collapse with a rhythmic crash;
Etiquette that the ocean waives
with the tingling of a bonfire veil;
Wild ardor the full moon craves.

Event 5

my car is parked there
like a silver brick on the asphalt
here at the top of the street
the gargoyles of the building know me
they know that at night I smoke
in the dark corners of the patio
biting nails counting bricks avoiding stepping on ants
while levitating over the lawn
It's been several days since I freaked out
and the spiral is swallowing me
I no longer understand constellations very well
I feel lost when I look at the spines of books
who could help me
or when I insist on looking for my old clothes
in boxes scattered around the dark apartment
as you struggle between mundane commitments
buying powdered food and taking quick showers
to wash away the dirt of a world that misbehaves
and spews poison on the news that I avoid.

Premium MemberPower of a Storm

Dark clouds billow overhead,
creating a landscape of gray.
A veil shadows slowly spread,
in the air, a misty sea spray.

Hazy dim light filters through,
adding no color to the day.
The sea and sky, no trace of blue,
leaving only a dreary display.

In the darkest part of the night,
a sea storm touched land.
In the sky, flashes of light,
illuminating beach and sand.

Rolling thunder, crashing waves,
came together, creating a roar.
Occurring when nature misbehaves,
and echoes the sounds of war.

After an hour, the storm finally died,
but leaving something to remind.
Its effects are seen, island wide,
proof of its power, left behind.

Oscar

I thank the heavens for this darling boy
who's given my life new purpose, joy.
This little scrap of humanity, who sits
on my knee and expounds my vanity
and completely disarms me with his
'Hello, granddad' and infuriates when
he misbehaves then saves himself with
a smile and a hug and I give a shrug
and beckon him near, this grandson
so dear, who melts my heart and leaves
a gap when we are apart. Who angers
and pleases in equal measure yet gives
my memory so much to treasure. Our
knowing looks, the story books, the
afternoon naps, the selfie snaps.
The rough and tumble when you don't
really want to, but you oblige for the smiles
and the giggles and then you collapse in
a heap of wriggles and try to be straight -
laced whilst he probes your face to see how
your eye works and plays with your lip
then, off he'll skip on some other ploy
and ask you to play with some other toy
or else bombard you with imaginary snowballs,
until, tuckered out, sleep finally calls and he kisses
goodnight and lazily crawls into the land of dreams
and childhood schemes and I'm left, bereft, aching
and sore and anticipating more in the dawns early light.

The Black Blizzard

POEM "THE BLACK BLIZZARD" by martin gedge

Wind behind the wheels back that calls the devil storm
evil are the eyes that wake to take its deadly form
to throw the hammer to the ground and dig a field of graves
for no remorse to takes it course for blackness misbehaves
the dead intent that hath hell bent for mercy be not spared
for those whose lives by throwing knives in skies are often dared
the dark disgust to throw its dust like needles punching holes
to run the wild of every child like thieves to take the souls
and barren waste to take with haste and show of no respect
will lie the plains just like the stains of humans that neglect
for every puff to blows its stuff to air that suits the please
will consume the breath of doom world dying by disease
and through the smoke as people choke like words to leave the nest
we do not need a heart to bleed to pound upon the chest
that natures plan to understand the root in every case
a land to fill each dollar bill that wears a dirty face
a world of one to come undone beneath the greedy cost
it's worth the fight to do what's right and spare the earth we lost...

Waiting At Pier 11

Helicopters hover;
Boats bounce on the waves.
Seagulls swoop and pigeons strut;
A toddler misbehaves.

Tourists take their selfies;
Cars in traffic crawl.
New construction blocks the sky
With buildings thin and tall.

Water laps the pilings;
Clouds conceal the sun.
Another session waiting
For the ferry has begun.

Premium MemberNature's Wild Child

Rain’s riot banishes peace of mind day,
Deluge damning dumps devious rage wet.
Storm, summer rain's wild child pours on display;
Lightning fierce, firing fitful since sunset,
Bass booming thundercracks dishing dismay,
Reverb atmospheric quaking dire threat.

Tantrum, summer's sobs throbs at window’s pain--
That this hellish brat exists, blackened bane!

Strobes’ amperage sizzling slow-motion fear
As brute force rants with spate’s tongue-lashing raves.
Kiss of death’s electric surge stalks me here,
Sky-splitting rumbling roars rock shocked airwaves.
Combustion spontaneous in juiced air,
Summer spawned tempest's temper misbehaves!

Menace.., nightmare slow swirls away turtle’s pace--
I feel color returning to pale face.

Conscience

OGUNLABI OLAJIDE YUSUF-NativePen 011
CONSCIENCE
TIME OF THOUGHT:LOSS
DATE OF THOUGHT:LOSS

The  uncorruptible judge of universe
Voice of mans spirit
The breaker of the stone heart

He pounds the accused heart to confess
A mortal pessile
The road that punishes
The accuse mind

He chastises the mind of kings and priest
He makes the most secretive person to voice out
The arch angel in our heart
Mr no nonsense

He is no respecter of anyone
He changes the mood of a friendly one
Whenever he misbehaves

He never condone any indiscipline
He shout at his environment
Whenever he notices any bad deeds
The ever faithful companion

Dear friend
Dear ally
Do you have any?

Blue Shaded Hues Dance

Blue on ocean blue
  dance rippled shaded hues
Indigo  casting blended shades
  as violet muses misbehaves

Waltz in between
 the Azure cyan scenes;

The island of Capri's breast
 remains icy arctic blue skies at rest
touch down to evening cobalt dark
 set the dye as it casts days final spark.

Salsa Latin sensual queens
  electrify softer periwinkle dreams.

Peacock dresses hurry away
  in the wavy foam of sapphire sways
Persian blue abshari flows
  along a silky darkened road.

In the evening mist the rainbow fade
  to every color the prism laid.
