Mincemeat British sweet pie.
Memories of Christmas,
Mix dried fruits and spices,
Mingle enough brandy
Manage pastry in pie,
Mince put in pie and baked
Much aroma dessert.

Strong opponents to beat,
A dozen of them, at the very least;
Their profiles on ‘Great Champions’ Sheet,
Each claimant to some dreary feat,
One of them, you dare not even greet,
Because he could you still make a mincemeat,
If he a chance picked and it was damned neat!
Out of your body squeeze clammy heat
And a ravaged one toss into a field of wheat.

Me and My Mincemeat Pie
When you look and see lattice crust,
For it does look like we had a lust;
Mincemeat pie,
We may try;
Make one more next year is a must.

Me mother used to make a mince-meat tart,
Old country way, with loads of shredded meat!
Can’t say, I liked it, till the second bite!
And then, the taste caught you… there was an art
To making tarts that waited to surprise
They took three days of silent preparation,
And all three days, full joy, anticipation,
For when she baked, good cheer was in her eyes!
It was the only time she didn’t grump,
It was a dance! She closed drawers with a bump,
She got happy, when she was making pies!
Put Norman Luboff on to cheer our hearts…
I'd say, the gift was mom, not just the tarts!
