Notes About The Poem

Invented Montague Middleton for Eve's Alliteration Nursury rhyme

contest... that went well!

In case you're wondering... I didn't enter it ;-)

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Montague Middleton

Montague Middleton’s matronly mother made marvellous munchy meringues
Montague Middleton’s most massive midriff made many a menu mistake
Montague Middleton met many maidens; Mother made mincemeat of most
Montague Middleton’s mother maintained, “Men mustn’t marry Miss ‘Fake’.”

Montague Middleton met Molly Milton, many men ‘met’ Molly more
Montague Middleton married Melissa; so many mad moans Molly made
Montague Middleton’s most massive mansion made more modest mansions mundane
Montague Middleton moved Molly in, making Molly both mistress and maid

Montague Middleton’s missus made many mouthwatering munchies
Montague Middleton’s missus made Monty’s mouth moisten most days
Montague Middleton’s missus met Molly, mentioning marital meddling
Montague Middleton’s mischievous mistress mocked Melissa’s malaise

So:

Montague Middleton murdered his missus
Montague Middleton married his mistress

But:

Montague Middleton made a mistake
For Montague Middleton’s mistress
Can’t bake

Is this a tongue twister or a brain buster, because you’ve just messed up an already messed up mind lol! Nah it’s brilliant Terry Some of the lines are fun to read backwards, pure genius! Cheers David

I can’t believe I spent so much time on this, David. Tried hard to have zero non ‘M’ words; that wasn’t gonna happen. Once I had the lines I rearranged them a few times and tweaked them to get something resembling a rhyme. Tough going for something that started out as something I threw together. Glad you enjoyed. Cheers

Perhaps Montague should now be laid to rest. How did you get through typing this without getting dizzy, or is it ditzy?

As I mentioned in my ‘foreword’ I was basically jotting stuff down looking for inspiration for Eve’s contest. Tried all sorts of stuff and finally came up with M.M. Alas it clearly wasn’t a nursery rhyme but it did become something of a challenge. Hope you enjoyed ;-)

Glad you enjoyed this, Arthur. Getting any semblance of rhyme in it did prove tricky… think I came fairly close though ;-)
