Strong Opponents To Beat

Strong opponents to beat,
A dozen of them, at the very least;
Their profiles on ‘Great Champions’ Sheet,
Each claimant to some dreary feat,
One of them, you dare not even greet,
Because he could you still make a mincemeat,
If he a chance picked and it was damned neat!
Out of your body squeeze clammy heat
And a ravaged one toss into a field of wheat.

Chinedum, I have enjoyed reading your poems. I suspect that you have become a slave to monorhyme, and it forces your thoughts into very narrow molds. If I may suggest, why don't you try some Free Verse, just letting your thoughts flow out onto the page unrestricted by rhyming. I think you'll be amazed at your success. Good work!

To well-meaning LMILTON, I now have a rhyme-tilting poet's identity. I might be occasioning some violence by good-naturedly taking up the Free Verse. Notice too, thematically the subject matters of my poems are collectively as diverse as Paul was from Barnabas with the rhyme thing furnishing unity to them. God bless.
