a quiet life drifts by in muted hues,
half-finished hopes and softly lowered views,
the middle path becoming all one chooses.
dreams dim to dusk when effort slips away,
and almost-bright becomes the shade of day~

Lillies get stuck in my licorice hair
Not a beauty by American standards
But I intrigue courters and enchanters
I like to fancy myself a purple poet
Though my muse is often stoic
He dangles ideas above my head
Just out of reach making me beg
For one hint at greatness in a night
A song a poem the world’s delight
But I’m stuck in maroon mediocrity
Sailing to blue moon from black sea
I shrink at the thought ~
Must we hover in dull stifling mediocrity?

Targets can be quantitative
But then, enough may be enough
Despite one being creative

What happened to qualitative
There’s plenty of adequate stuff

I wish I was a Poet,
but my tools are far and few,
if you could just read them,
you would know its true.
My rhymes they don't flow easy,
my rhythms sometimes flat,
I am not a poet,
its as simple as that.
I read from other poets,
the answer's plain to see,
my mediocre talents,
are not real poetry.
I try my best to hide it,
my real identity,
that I am not a poet,
in this world of poetry!
I'm an ordinary sort...
Nothing much to see.
No shining star to mark my space...
No glory there to be.
I've lived my life as best I could
With few laurels to provide.
Just one who walks in whispers
With mediocrity as my guide.
But times they are a changing
As normality bids adieu.
There are malcontents who flourish...
What's a common man to do?
With a world slaked in chaos...
The dregs will have their way.
So mediocrity is not so bad...
When stupidity rues the day.

Revered and praised
I want my live to live on
Be a member of history
Do something memorable
Achieve a mythical goal
Invent the saviour of man
Fly faster - go deeper
Reach the centre of the earth
Go into outer space
Land and colonise planets
Be the real Captain Kirk
Write the perfect song
Act; a tear jerking Macbeth
Dreams only dreams
This is what mediocrity means.
I ask thee, the one in heavens,
Why you peek,
Through the golden cracks of the sky,
As I flow, like a vagabond river,
To vanish into the sea of death,
As I live and fall, like jasmines,
Forever lost in tombs of dust.
I ask thee and thy silence,
Why you peek,
Through the stars in the darkest nights,
As I stand, an insignificant being,
Soaked in the evening red,
Wondering, if I am meant to be,
A mere spectator of thy divine art.
Why thee, gift this curse of mediocrity?
My words are vain and shallow,
They must dissolve in the sands yellow,
In a world that praises the great,
In a world that spits at the worst,
Here shall I lie with my poems,
Latent, unheard,
With a true companion of mine, mediocrity.
Pulling others down is implied admission of mediocrity

There is magic in life, but you must let go of anyone,out to destroy your soul.
Of these there are a plethora.
Are they descendants of Sodom and Gemmorah ?
These poets…simply cannot let you joyfully be!
Unless, your ideas match theirs in tandem, in modern poetry, do you see?
Dare you be different, they turn against you, indeed, hastily!
So, you must find other writers of sterling integrity.
If not, you are cursed to ever be a nothing poet.
Sadly doomed, to their odes to mediocrity!

Ever since the world began
there were those who 'also ran.'
Not for them the highest grades,
not for them great accolades.
Mediocrity rarely shatter.
That they ran is what most matters.
Blended belongings
Show your Light shining through
How do fools survive?
We all pay for dumbing down
educational standards all around
from thriving metropolis to sleepy small town
Incompetency reigns throughout customer service
Doctors' inaccurate diagnoses make patients nervous
Corporation mission statements, worthless lip service
It starts in the classroom, where teachers won't demand
if you want to say something, first raise your hand
Then later on, when rampant cheating's ignored
which leads to society's ox getting gored
So, let's stand up to teacher union's bureaucracy
Their idea of excellence - in truth, mediocrity
Insist on high standards, from grade one through university
and say No! to preference based on 'diversity'
