'excellence' That's Mediocrity

We all pay for dumbing down
  educational standards all around
from thriving metropolis to sleepy small town

Incompetency reigns throughout customer service
Doctors' inaccurate diagnoses make patients nervous
Corporation mission statements, worthless lip service

It starts in the classroom, where teachers won't demand
if you want to say something, first raise your hand
Then later on, when rampant cheating's ignored
which leads to society's ox getting gored

So, let's stand up to teacher union's bureaucracy
Their idea of excellence - in truth, mediocrity
Insist on high standards, from grade one through university
and say No! to preference based on 'diversity'

Of course there is the line: Their idea of excellence - in truth, mediocrity ;) and yes, we must insist on high standards :)

I am considered "old school" because I still demand this "It starts in the classroom, where teachers won't demand if you want to say something, first raise your hand" not wanting the children to be in control of the class. Silly me!

You and I are both 'old school,' I see. Actually, we're just experienced and won't put up with any Bull Sausage. Strict, but Fair, Atticus Wolf

You are spot-on, Joe. It's not the students who need to go back to the drawing board. Thanks, Gershon

Consider Russia's military budget is only $61.7-billion - less than one-tenth of ours, clearly establishing the measure of corruption rampant in the USA! Congress insist cannon fodder do not need an education, so funding is instead allocated to importing needed cyber and other skills from China & Russia, whilst our WHO rankings plummet. Yet who cares enough to review their local school's budget - or rankings? Aloha!

A thought provoking write Gershon... I agree with Valsa below, where our standard of education is getting low day by day... God bless... ~ Ani

KUDOS, KUDOS, KUDOS~you have bravely spoken the truth. Our educational system purposely is dumbing down our youth, companies pander to politicians, anarchy in our streets, and biological facts have no merit over diversity and absurd gender fantasies. GREAT WRITE..This should be on every billboard across every country!!!!! :) Paulette

I took your comment seriously, Paulette, but got turned down by billboards all over Chicago. I was told -- no sexy picture -- no dice!

Absolutely. Teachers today are brainwashed ignorant fools. Not all, but most! Excellent write.

Teachers unions today remind me of the SDS in the 60's. Same rhetoric, same tactics, same, same, same. ~ Gershon

I wonder if this is happening in other countries too.... ! In our country the educational standards decline each day, though it is often stated in vision and mission statement... EXCELLENCE !

Those mission statements sure are worthless, aren't they. They're the epitome of 'window dressing,' I think. Thanks, Valsa. :) gw
