Premium Member Trapped Breath

Written: August 07, 2025, for contest Sponsored by: Mark Toney

          ***********

Corset of steel tightens—ratified pain,
Vestigial breath trapped in ischemia thrall.
The ductile hope failed to placate
This Pyrrhic ache, this woebegone gall.

A sojourn in the squalor of soul,
Where sylphlike dreams maunder, downcast.
Ogle the embers of the miraculous nexus—
A seraphic visage lost, quickly.

Vivacious once, now virile with woe,
Panacea tastes of pabulum, slipshod, and cold.
Tinkling memories coruscate as zeugma—
Bright, yet untoward, they never hold.

Quixotic penchant for connection,
Grasping too late the nebula beneath.
What puissance is this—this throe, this tumult—
When tulle-wrapped love meets a gyre of grief?

Ululation beneath pavonine skies,
Adumbrate every glance, every sigh.
Crimson weave keeps a skirt in place,
Valuable, stained, adorned, and slain.

                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dark, drizzling recesses that pulse and flow.
A nebulous haze of nothingness, a sad show.
With rasping tears of seabirds, in silent cries.
They uncover comfort in various forlorn sighs.
Horizon depicts a snapshot of dreary gray.
Raven rainbows trance in barren dismay.
Why are you grieving, my wounded heart?
Why are you missing vivid spring impart?
Birds in scarlet, saffron, and cyan hues,
Glorious in the skies, so ariose views.
Yet, time slips by and you head away
Remote star casts me out of abyss sway.
I maunder amid dry gloom, forlorn and alone.
Chuckles echo across my passing groan.
In grief of shorebirds, I learn of my plight.
As I long for your arrival with all my might.
But hope lingers, akin to a glimmer at night.
We will return one day in a pure love light.
I will wait for that juncture, my soul ever true.
In bleak wilderness, memories will renew.
Premium Member Behold the Beast
Behold the beast, wandering in astral night
From dark caverns he emerges by starlight
to quaff nectar from his ambrosia chalice.
A leering creature with evil eyes of malice.
What nefarious thoughts does he ponder
as muscles ripple in his aimless maunder?
Does his venomous tongue thirst for more?
A pungent stench sloughs from every pore.
Empty cup held in gnarled gargantuan hand,
this goliath bellowed orders in foul reprimand,
"Heed my warning or tonight one of you will die;
the one who allows my nectar flagon to run dry!"
With each guzzle, the more belligerent he grew,
a frightful scene in which a battle would ensue.
The massive titan stumbled out in moonlight,
with ripe grape libation, he was fueled for a fight.
What brutish slander he grunts without a pause.
Frothing at the mouth with fallacy as his cause.
Scorning those upon whom he wishes to feast.
Brutal is bigotry when malevolence is released.
Tithing untested talents to tyrants;
Heaving hearts and minds in Humpty dumpsters
With vibrant energy and emotional overload,
As sensible as armadillos playing on a road,
To forge a Nirvana from breathless life.
Maunder not over permanent silence:
So, what are a few children, more or less?
Let not debate impede virtue’s progress:
Free speech is Utopia's enema!
Macabre Joke On the Ghost
"Shadows cannot be killed,
No one can negotiate, you're a mere living"
Simpered the ghost.
"Phantasmic" I muttered with a stare
in hidden quivers of fear ready to explode.
"Now watch the macabre joke by the living"
said, conjuring my courage
switched the light back ON,
killing the dead again instantly
"Yeah! eat that, creep."
 heard a maunder fading
"Not again" he got smoked making me smile.
Eyes wandered around, corner to corner
under the bed to the ceiling.
'anymore ghost from past, ready to get blast?'
snickering I slip into my sleep.
Some days I awake,
and my stride is maunder.
Even time, like money,
I too will squander.
I can’t seem to get,
pending problems to budge.
Even now, in cerebration,
Practical solutions I prejudge.
'Theatre Of The Absurd'
Catoptric Corridors of Time
Oh how the wounded waverly wander away from their hermitic heart
Only to meticulously maunder thru cumulous clouds that diffuse apart
The deflections of deceptions that build worshipful walls
Seen in Mirrors of errors displaying fathomable fetal falls
The soliciting silences succumbing to their cognitive cocoon
Inducing illusions forthcoming mirage’s of the monolithic moon
Dimensional decoding within the resurgent rhythmical rhyme
Catalectic exploding compositions in the Catoptric Corridors of Time.
Soldiers Strait
Wandering And Loafing thither-stunned I knew,
Scorching sweat-and a grim creature view,
Aye troubled and loaded vista of misery,
Swirling with abjectness seeming weary,
Nor they stand upright neither they sit calm,
Where they where ,never in placid nay in ominous realm,
Prepare for prepare on this abominable flame of war,
They freaked out through futile power,
Hence ‘tis a royal road through eke’ out but volatile,
Ye- grudgingly yet’ a way but vile,
What he must –must he be, but far and away,
Gibbet solemnly- but utter mere no word-to say,
Confined yea bind ah! Archaic men-at-arms,
You’d be among these, with no charm and warms,
Maunder surreal-y even in the day-and night watch,
Discern–castles in air while-lying on a patch,
Fair a mere simpleton creature, when dies,
Forgot at-once posthumously with no suspiration and sighs,
No well being and vivification where he dwelt and grew,
Aye beneath the troubled shallow’y spring under the yoke of fo,
Regime demand integrity, excelence and professionalism,
They say trinquality, solace, and humanism,
Tongue introverted, knees knocked, head stood,
Muster out as OAP, at hoar,man-made-wood.
Best Thing
You! My Best thing in this world,
Will neither leave you, nor I Quit,
You’ve summed up in my Eyes,
Take’s me up to the endless height,
Love garden with full of flowers,
Nightingale tweet and morning dew,
Turned my world to vast heaven,
Flying in your love as aircrew,
Love Affection and, presence of your absence,
Bloom my heart huge in size,
Together we bliss, together we joy,
Seems each moment to be in paradise,
Warmth heat of your touch fed me up,
Your shadows covered me as bending stem,
Satisfaction of belonging to you soothes me complete,
Maunder in ticklishness of your love whim.
You! My Best thing in this world,
Will neither leave you, nor I Quit
