Its weight like stone, it bows our shoulders low.
The robe of joy we wore is torn to shreds,
We're clothed in tears, in despair, ache, and woe,
Yet still we crave good hearts to love and care.

of how we used to eat crepes 
and dance with parking meters 
before feeding them a diet of quarters

We laughed and loved, life was so full of fun

an endless waltz of hours beneath the cherry blossoms  
where I walked alone, convincing myself  
that solitude was sweet, that love was for the others.  

My footsteps in the fall, crisp and solitary,  
echoed through halls of laughter I dared not enter.

If I had a dime 
I'd pay for the time that I had lost long ago
but I only have a penny and a head
filled with many memories of summer spent with you

Now it's winter, and I still think
of the summer nights 
although we had our fair share of fights
