“Sadness flies away on the wings of time.”
—Jean De La Fontaine
...................................................
Heavy is this gray cloud above our heads,
Its weight like stone, it bows our shoulders low.
The robe of joy we wore is torn to shreds,
We're clothed in tears, in despair, ache, and woe,
Yet still we crave good hearts to love and care.
This yoke we bear clings tight like second skin,
Its presence felt in every breath we take.
Memories we thought were buried within
Still rise and pull us under when we wake,
Our hearts exposed—so empty and stripped bare.
But time erased our sadness, eased the pain,
The scar too faint for even eyes to see.
Now joy returns in true love’s gentle rain,
Its warmth and laughter set our spirits free,
The love it brings now shines with fun and flair.

Echoes of the silent shore into our past it transports
Calling me to my memories long ago stored
Safely put away
for days like today
when I need you and my eyes are red and sore
Echoes of the silent shore make me want you more
than I have truly wanted anyone ever after or before
To have and hold you
wrapped in your arms too
when you want to hear then out my heart will pour
Echoes of the silent shore haunt me more than before
Prior to our parting, nothing about you I abhorred
all times I fumbled
toppled and tumbled
Besides losing you, is nothing I regret more
Echoes of the silent shore left me alone to explore
Regret filling my heart spilling over I can’t ignore
We’re not together
I’m iron fettered
Without you near all disappeared that I adored
Echoes of the silent shore walks us on the dance floor
You wandered into my life through the open door
I want you to know
I can’t let you go
Since you’re gone emptiness cuts me to the core
Echoes of the silent shore stay with me on your accord
When you were here each time you smiled galore
In my dreams you stay
Never go away
And every single day I love you more

stanyan street
.
.
we walked along stanyan street
where amber-colored streetlights
looked down upon us
like hundreds of sunrises
as if in reverence and respect
.
we held white candy bags
holding secrets of smiles and memories
of how we used to eat crepes
and dance with parking meters
before feeding them a diet of quarters
.
we loved the simple things in life
and were too busy to wonder
about tomorrow
and some wednesday in july
.
was it on stanyan street, on that cloudless day
when i looked at you and kissed your smile
.
i will always wander about stanyan street
looking for you in the corner of a musty bookstore,
browsing brautigan or mc kuen
hoping to catch a glimpse
of a lady wearing your smile
and a wishful look in your still-youthful eyes.

You held me close as night danced us away
We welcomed the stars into our embrace
You gathered moonbeams into a bouquet
our love created a magical place.
We laughed and loved, life was so full of fun
We loved intensely, we had found our love
We celebrated our days in the sun
We fit together like a lambskin glove.
Just memories now of long-ago past
Our love was young, our lives free of all pain
Our forever love: too fragile to last
Your whispered love now a gentle refrain
Yet, I'll always love you, deep in my mind
The magic of our love: the rarest kind.

Last Man Standing
In my youth, strong and commanding,
I was proud to be the last man standing
They say pride goeth before a fall
But way back then, I had it all
All the good times, all the songs
You were the reason I sang along
All the road trips, all the fun
and start again when the day was done
I look back with no regret,
There is not a moment I will forget
Hand in hand through all our travels
Till daybreak comes and the dream unravels
You are my partner, you are my friend
And that part will never end
I carry you with me, your love is still here
And I am blessed to feel you near
And while I did what I could
To stay strong, and tough and good
still life became more demanding
Its hard to be the last man standing
So always, I hold your memory dear
But there are some who need me here
And so our memories will need to do,
Until the day I am back with you

Turn back the hands of time,
Against the fading light,
Keep me in that moment,
Everything felt so right.
My heart raced, unsure but alive,
Echoes of your smile still survive.
Bring me back to where it began,
All the stars aligned in our plan.
Close my eyes and I still see,
Kisses that were meant to be.
Take me back to that sweet day,
How our worlds began to sway,
Every second, forever true.
Don't let those memories fade,
As long as I have you, I'm not afraid.
You were my beginning—the moment we met.
We met, and I knew,
Every road led to you.
My heart found its way home,
Eternally, where you roam.
Take me back, don’t leave me alone.

Memories of You
You’re more than just a memory tucked deep within my heart
you’re the brilliance of the sunrise that cues the day to start.
You’re the rustle of the wind blowing softly through the trees,
the music of a wind chime dancing on an evening breeze.
You’re a symphony of robins returning in the spring
the lyrics and the melodies
of the love songs that they sing.
You’re the freshness of a summer rain
on a hot and humid day
cleansing and renewing, washing the heat away.
You’re the colors of the autumn leaves
magentas, red and gold
that lend a hint of cheerfulness
before winter claims its’ hold.
You’re the silence of the first snowfall
the sparkle of snowflakes
the shimmer of the ice that creeps
across unsuspecting lakes.
You’re the magic in a Christmas tree
the twinkle of the lights
the ribbons, bows and holly
that makes the season bright.
You’re the shadow of the moon,
the luster of the stars
the radiance of the sun telling the day to start
you’re more than just a memory
you’re the soul within my heart.

I just loved
I just loved, just loved, and loved. And loved
Need a God in my life, can’t be my life’s kind
If my life is a problem, let me lose that, cross the time
Forget my problem, get me yours, I need your love in yours
Feel my soul, still beating, a take my life into yours
Death is mine because I want to give you my lives
Live you, love you, get you, you drop me, into you
I just loved you, passed all the memories away,
I am just a life lover, be my killer, my life get always you
Hah, my life is coming of you, because want to forget you
Hah, drop me and love you, love your life, let me be, let me be
A slave of you
Someone
Nothing
But…
… Loved you

We used to be so close
Nose to nose
Eyes to eyes
These are not lies.
Now, you’re so far
It’s like a strange war
You get upset
For no reason
This is a new season
Let’s not bet
To separate forever
Or to quit loving each other.
Let’s reminisce
That’s not a sin
Let’s try again
To be face to face
Very close
Nose to nose
Eyes to eyes
Under the blue skies.

If I had a dime
I'd pay for the time that I had lost long ago
but I only have a penny and a head
filled with many memories of summer spent with you
Now it's winter, and I still think
of the summer nights
although we had our fair share of fights
nothing compares to those 90 days
of having you by my side
Understand me when I say
of course, I miss your presence or the way you laugh
But if I had a dime
I wouldn't ask you to be mine this valentine
Hearing your name, I can't help but smile
mainly at the remembrance of those childish days
but not as the person you are now
though you have fooled me once
I shouldn't let you fool me twice
So, if I had a dime I wouldn't let you waste my time, but i'd keep
the summer nights when you were sincere
and I was merely naive
for following my dreams.

love memories, 8th grade, betrayal, for
Form: Rhyme
I used to think about the times we had.
I would dwell on it and then end up sad.
Because those days were one of the happiest of mine.
But you know what they say, everything good leaves with time.
If it was meant to last then you would have stayed.
Because God’s plan is perfect in every single way .
As long as I live I’ll look fondly on my past.
Enjoying the memory’s, knowing life moves on so fast.
Because before I know it I’ll be old and turning gray.
And I’ll look happily on this moment remembering today.
For what happens today will be a memory tomorrow.
So I will try to stay happy and forget all my sorrows.
This life of mine always moves along too fast .
Making my happiest days only something of the past.
For as new days come barring smiles and hugs.
The yesterdays go leaving only memories of love.

Upon the crest of a whispering wave,
A love letter sealed in a bottle's embrace,
Tossed by the tides, an age ago,
Lost in the depths, where mysteries flow.
Within its parchment, emotions reside,
Ink stained with feelings, impossible to hide,
A longing expressed in words so true,
Captured in time, like morning's first dew.
Conch shell trumpets a tale of old,
Announcing love in echoes bold,
Carried by breezes, a melodious call,
Love's proclamation, enchanting all.
Cowrie shells shimmer, treasures of the sea,
Symbolizing love's currency, pure and free,
Gifts from the ocean, precious and rare,
Like the depth of affection two souls share.
In a world of fragments, memories cast,
Love's legacy endures, forever to last,
Upon the crest of each rolling wave,
Echoes of devotion, eternally brave.

there
are still
traces
of slow
minded
memories
of you,
recaptured
and brought
to view,
whispering
softly
to my heart.

she served me a whiskey
smiled and said hello
although we barely spoke
when we met four days earlier
four days earlier i was running errands
parking on a busy one-way street
pausing to seek drink and conversation
as summer bled into fall
fall a time of reflection
of seasons past and age
memories of friends
and i asked myself if i could use another
another time and place the reflection
my heart bore the weight
of those who've come and gone
as i lived my many lives
my many lives whispered as i looked at her
each a song and a poem
each a never-ending refrain
memories rekindled on a day in november
