Toast to Nothing

Do not toast to tomorrow!
Unable to even gaze upon this very moment,
Is tomorrow truly a blessing meant for you?

Yes, she hesitated.
For a moment, I surrendered reality.

Before I knew it, lingering with a sweet kiss,
Suddenly, her own "Lord of the Rings"
Found its way onto my finger.

"Today too, when I get off work,
I surrender my entire body
To her sense of smell."

"It's not your bonus day today, is it?"

Rings And Things

If you want to participate
in the pool events
at the Olympic rings
you literally have to be
right in the swim of things
and you really ought
to be on top of things
if the balance beam
is your sport
or if it's high jump hurdles
or pole vault
you should get over them
to a fault
the Olympic rings were created
giving athletes wings
by Charles Pierre de Frédy Baron de Coubertin
dubbing him 'Lord of the Rings'

Frodo

Frodo was a homely soul
But undertook a lengthy stroll
To throw a ring into a crack
And let an eagle bring him back

Premium Member Take me to Lothlorien

The basement bulb goes out, I lack a spare
My cat licks my ice cream, I'm OK to share
My laptop gives my face a glow
I'm wrapped up in a magic flow

I imagine leaving the world of men
through Moria to Caras Galadren
float this door to the Arduin shore
reclaim my wonder there once more.

Take me to Lothlorien
I'll meet you in an elven glen
we'll stand on Amroth Cerin
and see our realm, the gem within

Come Pearl Maiden, to that mystic land
Please cross Mirkwood, I'll lend my hand
We'll walk the grass, we'll scale the height
Gain audience with Galadriel the White.

I've only met you online so far
In a fantasy book club, wherever you are
You might live in a basement too
But make it here and I'll meet you.

A! Elbereth Gilthoniel!
silivren penna míriel
o menel aglar elenath,
Gilthoniel, Albaness Tirath.

So take me to Lothlorien
Away from the stressful world of men
We'll share our love of legends made
In this land, we're not afraid.

For Celeborn has the elven ring
He hides this land from the evil king
If you make it here, then I’ll meet you
And hopefully my cat comes too!

Premium Member lord of the catnip rings

Lord of the Catnip Rings from Land of Ice
Had a way about him that brought in mice
They ran toward him not once, but twice
Silly Silly Silly non-thinking, idiotic Mice!

There was a way they had about themselves
Known to brownies, faeries, imps and elves.
They jumped to Lord of the Rings from shelves
Silly mice, living where the crazy rodent dwells.

Saruman

Oh, Saruman!

What a curse to have a stronger mind than heart -
To see the probabilities in favor of darkness
and lose faith that the way of light and truth
will always find a way.

I've stepped out of Earth's atmosphere
Don't expect me for dinner, my dear

Past Mercury, Venus and Mars
Out my window shine trillions of stars

Catch a glimpse of me going 'round Saturn
Just follow the rings' elliptical pattern

And when I'm beyond the Milky Way
Please call in sick for me, OK?

Premium Member Not Sp-Here-Ing the Truth

Our earth rotates with a wobbly spin.. could that be
Indicative of the presence of sin? Not perfect yet living
Maybe that's so.? yet here's another truth many won't know'
A ball of Release was created and run where the sun
Starts to shine, while in the earth's north; there is none'
Reports from dead media, deny it was done.?
Yet I saw so many all enjoying their fun, it was titled
For freedom though to close it some tried,
For to smile is now frowned on; and no singing inside.'
Like the scouring of 'the shire' in the Lord of the rings
How could it happen? In tightening things.?
Fear was It's trigger; as deadly claims just grew bigger
In their 70 and 80s people's actions escape me.!
They'll do the mask-task, but ever do they ask?
How they lived to this good age.? Were their mothers
So.. Unsage.? I'm sure they would cry if all this came
To their eyes.' This insult to good reason cap's
The silliest of seasons.!

Tic Tic Tic Toc

You reach down
And place your hand in your pocket
And feel last year’s railway ticket
Knowing you are going nowhere
No ticket to ride
the glass in the living room window murky
or the world outside just dirty
as you look for anyone who may smile
friend or foe a Jehovah witness
One who’s lost in the wilderness
with no doors to knock
is Jesus in lockdown also
time as slowed more tic tic tic toc
another day of daytime tv and Covid news
and back to back lord of the rings
off to bed to dream of gigs and party’s
but the world is on repeat.

Friday Thoughts

There's the
Guy
In the corner
Strumming on his guitar
Singing of the
Good ol 2000's songs
Shaking his head
At the recent rap reps
The golden eyelet
Etched on
There's the emo girl
In all black
Tapping furiously
On her laptop
Emailing any
Cooperations
That would take her
Her sighs can
Be heard from the
Other side of the room
There's the dude
With the manbun
Tutting to the BGM
Muttering of
The Friday tiredness
Glasses hung low
On his eyes
The couple in the corner
Giggling ecstaticly
Sitting snugly
Sharing earphones
Gabbing
Of the dreams they seek for
Sweet high school
Innocence
Cigarettes burning out low
Feet out on the balcony
Overlooking
The sky full of stars
There's the salaryman
Sinking low into his
Wrinkled suit
Still in his twenties
Not wanting to go home
To sleep
And wake up to the
Same tedious routine
There's the girl
With the piercings
Smoking
Perfect rings
Lord of the rings
She smirks to herself
As she
Watches them
Slowly
Disappear
Into the air
Waiting to
See the
Soleil levant
Dripping of tequila

Mother Said

My Mother said you need to read
more than Comic books.
I know I’m not the only one.
Some of everything that I read
from my childhood to adult
has been made into movies.
Like Hollywood had nothing better to do
then to follow me around,
every time I Pick up a book.
Someone made a phone call.
What is he reading?
The Avenger’s X-men and Dr. Strange.
My Mother who was an English Major,
said Bobby since you hate English in school,
you'll probably end up being a poet.
But you need to read more than Comic books.

In 1968 I was in the 5th grade
at public school No. 6
when my teacher Mr. Gamble read
the Lord of the Rings to the class.
I surprised my mother
When she caught me reading the Hobbit.
Grow up and I joined the Army,
got sent overseas on hardship tour.
Pulling guard duty, I had a lot time on my hands.
So, I read the books of Tom Clancy.
Hollywood found my reading list.
Hunt for the Red October,
Clear and Present Danger
Patriot Games.
Everything that I read from childhood
to adult has been made into movies.
But I’ve also read books on sensual massage,
And you should know,
they are X-rated movies.

My Best Friend

All those years when you were growing so fast
Your laughter, no sweeter sound have I heard
Tiny fingerprints I knew would not last
An impossible wish for time deferred

Snowy day's play-acting Lord of the Rings
Dodging spider webs in the summer heat
The livingroom cluttered with your plaything's
I long for those days with every heartbeat

The need to see your face overwhelms me
You are over a thousand miles away
I try to stop the tears from breaking free
When you are not with me, my world is grey

From the tempestuous child that you were
You're now my best friend my soul whisperer

Premium Member My Precious

i virtually hug the stuffing out of my birthstone,
the moody opal, with its raging volcanic flame —
leaping, delighting, entertaining my eyes.

specks of tinted lipstick - yellow, orange, red
kiss my irises. iridescent charm of color, play
with my mind, body and soul. calmer effects —

of green and blue like leafy trees & Caribbean sea.
Like Frodo, i slide this otherworldly warmth on my finger
rotating the silver band - “my precious” cabochon.
