There was a Little One,
they wondered,
As they stared off to the sky...
"Why did the clouds change?"..
The Little One,
They pondered,
As they felt leaves between their hands,
"Where do the dots and holes come from?"
The Little One,
They imagined,
Stars shooting fast, but as if they are flying along side...
"Can I keep up?"
The Little One,
They stumbled,
Running fast down the hill...
"How fast can my legs go?"
The Little One,
They noticed,
When things shifted at home...
"How do I use my words to express myself?"
The Little One,
They embraced,
Hugging their parent tight.
"How long can I squeeze for?"
The Little One,
They dreamed vividly,
Universes showing themselves...
"Is dreamland just another place?"
The Little One,
They sighed...
Their head resting on the pillow.
"What can I think about tomorrow?"

Respect is a gift to you and to me
Respect has you listen when teachers teach
Respect builds respect with each little step
Respect is a gift that builds education
The gift of that knowledge can build a vocation
Yet sometimes kids argue yell and complain
Without listening ears no knowledge, they gain
If you cannot read and if you cannot write
The jobs of tomorrow remain out of sight
If you cannot write no resume written
Employers don’t take the kids that don’t listen
Sleep, my son,
hush, hush, little one.
Your father's heart hums for you,
your mother's heart longs for you.
It’s eventide;
darkness wraps the world in black velvet,
yet the moon shines gloriously,
and the stars weave a lullaby,
all for you, my son.
I cherish you, boy.
Your worth surpasses the rarest emeralds;
your laughter stitches my frail soul,
and your sleeping face undoes me.
You and I—
we are of the same essence,
the same murmured wish to the heavens.
You are the yearning of my old soul,

There are dragons at my door.
“Come crawl in beside me,” She said
“I’ll chase them far away.”

I stubbed my toe.
It hurts really bad.
“Let me see.” She said
“Oh my gosh. I think it needs a kiss.”
Hey, Mom!
Johnny said I’m fat.
He makes me mad.
I want to clobber him.
“Come here a little hug will do,” She said
“You’re a diamond in my eye.”
Hey, Mom!
Can you take me to the park?
I want to ride a merry-go-round
And play in the sand.
“Let's ask a friend,” She said
“I’ll pack a lunch.”
Hey, Mom?
Could you tie my shoe
And button up my coat?
It’s cold outside.
“I’ll walk you to the corner,” She said
“And see you on the bus.”
Hey, Mom!
Can I stay up late
And watch TV with
You and Dad?
It’s time for bed

Hush, my darling, don’t you cry.
I know you’ve had it hard.
Life is far from fair and
never turns out how we plan.
One minute everything is perfect,
the next we’ve got it all taken away;
and when we least expect it,
our world crumbles before our eyes.
Our life is make believe,
nothing is for real.
What we think we hold in our hands
is illusion that vanishes into thin air.
Time passes. Life goes on
while skies and mountains hold the truth.
We are here but for an instant,
the magic is in their majesty.
Be strong and rise to the challenge:
you have yet peaks and skies to conquer.

In the storybook we count the blue sheep, my little one it is now off to sleep,
Here is your big Tom teddy you can keep,
now go off to dreamland and make no peep.
