I WOULD, I WISH, MAYBE, MAYBE NOT

I would numb the pain if I had the chance,
I would sew back all the hurt
I would go back in time to just take away the pain,
But I can't it's too late.

I would live back the memories,
I would laugh back at the jokes
I would freeze the moment when I did not have to break down

It will be okay

When movements cease and passion turns a bore
That voice increases, louder than before.
Unravelling temptations and taunting that sting
that I promised I wouldn’t do, I’ve tried other things.

My recollection is present and erases the past
But why don’t I worry that this is going to last?

I feel sad my friend drifted away --- a limerick gave me a laugh.

Smiling Through the Silence

My life has always felt ordinary—
a quiet rhythm of joy and sorrow,
as natural as the changing sky.

I tell myself I’m fine,
because when I glimpse the stories of others,
my own burdens seem lighter.

I have no great struggles,
or maybe I’ve simply grown used to them,
numb to the weight I no longer name.

Blue Cheese

My mother likes blue cheese.
She said it was an acquired taste,
Only the most sophisticated,
Dined on it’s musky scent.
Though I hated blue cheese,
I swallowed it down.
Hard.
Grotesque.
There was nothing I hated more than blue cheese.
But if it meant being accepted,
I’d pretend.
Over time,
Blue cheese became my friend.
It made me laugh.
It comforted me when no one else could.

Convoluted Conscience

Rhapsody of rainbow 
morphs into morose mélange
of shredded exuberance,
bleeding colors 
bleached from collapsed cloud
of twilight zone 
embroidered by sunset spectrum,
profoundly permeate 
as ingrained blemish 
the lilac lattice
of the broken heart,
the sordid shades of blue 
paint the linen of love,
