Premium Member broken promises

she has closed up her soul
tighter than Fort Knox,
no lover has been able
to peel away the layers
like an onion petal

her heart broken,
lifeless,
by your broken promises
of love and marriage

while you were away
fighting in the war,
finding love abroad
to occupy your time.
she was here waiting...
planning the perfect wedding,
the perfect home.
white picket fence
in the country.
rose bushes and lush lawn
with a long gravel driveway.

now she struggles
to crawl out of bed,
and focus on getting
through the day.

her vivacious spirit gone....
her glow gone.....
all that's left
are hollow eyes
into emptiness.

Premium Member Jack Always Finds his Way Back

I laid the scarecrow carefully into a long box
Treated him as if he had come from Fort Knox
He had been my grandma’s treasure, she loved this doll you see
But I gave him to the junk man at a quarter ‘til three

The junk man was delighted, he had always liked scarecrow
How the doll got back to my house, I will never know
But I have tried to get rid of him for six days out of seven
Maybe grandma leads him back from her seat in heaven

At first it was creepy how this doll ever found his way back
But now it’s just what he does, so I have named him Jack
I can see that Jack and I are going to have a bond until the end
Because he came back home an hour ago after I’d given him to my friend.

Reality Shows

Reality is coming.
Don't you hear its wings, a-thrumming?

When prosperity smiled
on the people of the Nile
and there was bread and onions
no Calvins, Luthers, Bunyans
could disrupt the daily toil
to sell them snake oil,
but the workers in crisis
are sure to turn to Isis.

totem poles, Superbowls, Beyonce Knowles
cellphones ring tones Alex Jones
will-they-fire-us, Covid virus, Miley Cyrus

How long can you keep
them walking in their sleep?
In the watches of the night,
don't you sometimes take fright
when you think how it will end,
the day they comprehend?

Rand Paul, Fawn Hall, Rollerball
go-fasters, phony pastors, US Masters
shock jocks, Redsox, Amanda Knox

During the investors' meeting,
don't you hear those wings, a-beating?

Premium Member Knox News

they had heard the owl was wise
his intelligence was mediocre at best
his ideas were not even his own
He got them from Knox News

If Knox recommended meal worms
Owl ate meal worms
If Knox said the sky was red
Owl thought the sky was red

a fowl ruled by suggestions and subliminal clips
Owl was wise in no way
Yet many flocked to his tree to ask his advice

Goliath frog jumped out of a mailbox
Chased off a dog, a hog, and a fluffy fox
They straight away ran up to a giant ox
ox was terribly ill with itchy chicken pox

You two are on your own! Yelled the irritated fox
Goliath frog jumped all the way back to that mailbox
What do we do now? The hog asked the dog named Knox.
Knox could not answer; his scratchy voice was on the rocks.

Premium Member Katie's Poem

I'm still here
I stepped into the shadows
I haven’t gone away
I didn’t want others to see the face of sorrows
I’m still here
It was so much easier than I could convey
I just didn’t have the words
But I’m still here
The pain was too much to bear
I took time to sit and watch the birds
I had to let my soul repair
However, I am still here
Occasionally, a tear will slide down my face
And I still feel like my heart is on its last beat
But I am still here
Then I try to remember God’s wonderful grace
And tell myself that I am complete
I am still here
I am a child of the Most High
Despite all my failures and my hurt
I will not listen to another lie
This is where I will assert
I am still here

Premium Member I Can't Steal You

I can steal the gold in ole Fort Knox
Steal the loot in a pirates box
I can steal a stone from Stonehenge site
Steal the cape from a vampire knight

But I can't steal you
Just when I might
He holds on tight
I can't steal you

I can steal a bike from a cycle bunch
Steal a dinner from a lions lunch
I can steal the gate where the devil stay
Steal so quick the time of day

But I can't steal you
Just when I might
He holds on tight
I can't steal you

Premium Member How Much?

How much?

When I say I love you,
you ask me how much?
Let me begin by telling you
for me, your name,
Tabitha
is where life begins.
I love you more than
any money I can win.
I would love you more,
even if you had a Twin.

I hope you know
the Lord planned it,
I love you more
than the number of
trees on this planet.

I love you more
than all the water
in the Pacific Ocean.
Why just your name
is the meaning
of my devotion.

I love you more now,
and not because
we’re getting old.
I love you more than
the fables or stories
that go untold.

You know the deal,
I will tell the whole world
How I feel…

And if that’s not enough.
I love you more
than anything you can order
From Amazon in a box.
I love you more than
all the gold in Fort Knox.

I love you that much.

Happy Birthday Dear Mother

I close my eyes for one second and suddenly
I'm home again, next to you and dad
You were born on Christmas Eve, just like the babe
of Bethlehem ...
Laughter peels the faded kitchen paper
as you pull out a tin pan full of hot steaming lasagna
"Get the birthday cake from the garage, Vienna"
is what you said to me, it came as no surprise,
you knew all the hiding places of our home and hearts.

Happy Birthday dear mother. I miss you more than,
the sun, moon, and stars *
Today when I see what Christmas has become,
I know the only way to recall it properly, is through your eyes.

Little legs running down the stairs, dampness of cold brick,
taste of fermented wine, feel of a silky cake box holding a dream,
this is what I recall, this liquid memory is tighter than Fort Knox.

Premium Member A Little Fun With Our Leaders

Kamala Harris, even worse than 'Sloppy Joe'
Hey, ho ~ They both gotta go!

  Biden's waist-deep in corruption
Soon to come, a legal tidal-wave eruption
As for his mental and physical fitness
One or two video clips are enough to witness

More than a snake has Harris wiggles
when defining 'culture' with inane giggles *
It seems that her goulash-like explanations
may just impress rocks and crustaceans

So get thee to the elections in 2024 for sure
who needs four more years of these clowns to endure

*"Culture is a reflection of our moment and our time. And
present culture is the way we express how we feel about
the moment. And we should always find time to express
how we feel about the moment. That is a reflection of joy.
Because, you know... it comes in the morning," Harris said
    with a laugh.

Premium Member Careful What You Wish For

The Genie in a bottle
Granted me these wishes three
For unleashing the cork
That set his spirit free

Awhile I thought and pondered
What will my first wish be
I said ...The ability to fly
He said...That's one of wishes three

The next on my agenda
Was wealth and luxury
I said...Surround me with riches
He said...That's two of wishes three

The final thing I asked for
And I think you'll all agree
I said...To die a happy man
He said...That's the last of wishes three

He then smiled a wicked smile
Tossed me as far as you can see
Landed headfirst in Fort Knox
Now I'm dead one, two, three

Premium Member Everyone Knocks Neville

Neville Knox was a trusting soul,
He believed all that people told him.
Even those who came around,
To harass and even scold him.

No matter what the suggestion,
He would do whatever they said.
From putting his hand in the fire,
To breaking a rock with his head.

All in town would snicker and laugh,
They really thought it was funny.
He made it so easy to stiff him,
And borrow all of his money.

On a fateful day he was asked,
By a group of people he trusted.
To swallow a gallon of gas,
Then spontaneously combusted.

In a trophy case he resides,
On his urn was this notation:
Inside lies his final remains,
Guilty of his own cremation.

Premium Member Desolation

He builds a mighty garrison
Formed up from Duplo blocks
He brags you’ll never take his king
A regular Fort Knox

But then the ogre from the east
Comes crashing through the vale
There’s nothing left but ruins now
And odors that assail

A wet and slimy residue
There’s drool upon the walls
The mayhem, utter and complete
So off the toddler crawls

Premium Member My Holiday Travels - Part 2

A lovely country indeed is France
especially Menton down on the Med
everything makes you want to go back
such flowers, colors, and beauty all said

Also on the Med is the Riviera
a super little town called Agay
Its capital Paris is truly magical
so much to see either by night or day

My fav country is truly Switzerland
It's capital Geneva majestically true
staying by Vevay on the lakeside
highlight sailed on Lake Geneva so blue

Its reformation history is marked by its wall
the great reforming mark so grand
there stand Farel, Calvin, Beza, and Knox
men of godliness to righteous stand

We took the train up to the mountains
Jungfrau was the one so high a peak
reaching this beauty by cable car
all covered in white what a treat!

The longest trip was to South Africa
to travel along the beautiful garden route
visiting George, Knysna, and Mossel Bay
also to table mountain at Cape Town by day
