Ngo Dinh Diem thought America was a friend
That turned out badly, he met a bloody end
A State Department cabal thought he denied human rights
They pulled the plug and turned off the lights
JFK agreed he had to go, Diem was hurting our side
Viet plotters then shot him, JFK was horrified.

Remembering the Death of Jfk

Few now remember the horror of November 22nd
The year was 1963, and it seems a long time ago,
But by American history and memories reckoned
The death of the president far eclipsed Mar-a-Lago.

On that day President John F. Kennedy was killed,
Shot to death in old Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas,
It was said accomplished by a man not-so-skilled,
And

from where she sat
in the back seat
climbing onto the
trunk of that
long luxurious Lincoln
not to escape an
assassin's assault
as many assumed
but to collect the shards of
skull and bits of brain
that had been blown
back onto it as a bullet
blasted a hole in his head
his body lolling over to
lie limply in her lap
as her flowers fell to
the floorboard

A handsome man, a valiant son,
John Kennedy was he.
A man who rose to President
with civil rights the key.

Who can forget the many days
like Camelot they seemed,
when all eyes were on Washington,
they passed just like a dream.

a Vassar deb was she,
who walked with grace on his right side
through fame and infamy.
