AS THE YELLOW TAPE DECORATED MY TOWN HOME
PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER WATCHED IN SILENCE
I FROZE MY HEART POUNDING LIKE THUNDER WHY
IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD FOR THIS MAN WHO

LIE BLEEDING AT MY FEET I HERE HIM WHISPER
FOR MERCY HE HELD OUT HIS HANDS WITH BLOOD
IN THE CORNER OF HIS MOUTH I FEEL LIKE MOTHER
THERESA AND JOAN LUNDON AT THE SAME TIME
 
MY MIND QUICKLY MOVES BACK TO COMPASSION 
AND LIFE FOR HIS SOUL LORD I PRAYED WITH THIS
DYING MAN AS I WEEP SO TRAUMATIZED BY VIOLENCE
YET AGAIN THE MAN COVERED WITH HOLES

OF BLOOD HE REACHED FOR ME I COULDN'T STOP
HIS PAIN WHY WHY AND WHAT DOES HE WANT
WITH ME HE'S DEAD ALMOST HIS LEGS IS TREMBLING
HIS BREATH SHALLOW I TELL HIM I'LL GET HELP

I WAS AFRAID FOR HIM TO TOUCH ME AS I REACHED
OUT MY HAND THIS DYING MAN SAID NO PLEASE 
STOP YOUR CRYING IT'S KILLING ME

Initiated by his 1848 discovery
the California Gold Rush peaked in '49
at John A. Sutter's Mill
where finding flecks of 96% pure 23 carat fine
in the American River muck
Marshall exclaimed, 'I have found it, it's mine!'
for altho' a carpenter from New Jersey in Coloma
on 24th January he was in luck
and overcome at the site of his find
in total amazement he was orestruck

 soft-star winds began to blow.
A whispered spell swept ’cross the skies..
The universe opened its silver eyes.

At 8:40pm, the veil grew thin..
Letting a precious new soul step in.
On the 14th November 2025..
The world was gifted when you arrived.

Harry James Churchill, pure and bright..
Born of stardust, wrapped in light.
At 8.6 lbs, strong and sweet..
With 51 centimetres from head to feet.

Evan and Kayla, hearts aglow..
Hold magic only parents know.
Their pride now shimmers warm and true..
For dreams they wished have now come through.

Welcome, dear Harry, to earth’s embrace..
A brand-new story, a sacred place.
May joy surround you all your days..
May love light up your life always.

Grow bold, grow kind, grow brave and wise..
Chase dreams that glitter in the skies.
And know this always, little man..
You’re cherished deeply..

In the measure of the heavens, my heart turns to you.
Like the barley rising, you are my joy.
Your name is sweetness poured into the reed flute.

I, James McLain, know the fire of devotion—

A river that does not cease.

Night of the James Taylor Concert during Freshman Year at College

My friend most beautiful
sat shoulder to shoulder with me
after the lights went low
and the show began.

We took in ballad after ballad
the tender voice hour after hour
and a spell was cast.

The song of Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight
spoke to me— I could almost cry.

I glanced at her
and she looked straight ahead.

This was the night I wanted for months
although we had some casual dates

o the times when I pleaded for more

but tonight she was so tender
when I put my arm around her shoulder.

I knew the night was good for her
when we stepped out the elevator
onto her dormitory floor
and the music resonated in my mind.

The taste of her kiss was so sweet
on that special night.

She must have known
it was our last.

Premium Member What the Morning Leaves Behind

I woke this morning
to the thick breath of heat,
a humid Sunday rising slow as regret.

The tulip tree leaves hung there,
backlit like stained glass in a forgotten chapel,
and beneath the sagging feeder,
a ragged pile of feathers—gray, white, brown—
strewn across the grass,
as though something holy had been torn apart
in the night.

Fox, coyote, hawk—
it hardly matters.
Something lived, and something else lived longer.

I stood there,
thinking how easy it is to mistake hunger for cruelty,
but the air was already moving on,
taking the story with it.

From the television in the sitting room,
the voice of a tired reporter cracks
over the flash flooding on the Guadalupe,
bodies pulled from the brown water,
while the ban on transgenders from the military takes hold,
quiet as a closing door.

Famous pet doctor, James Alfred Wight
Who, at 50 years of age, began to professionally write
Taking "James Herriot" as his pen name
Bought from a goalkeeper at a football game

Couldn't publish with the name he used as a vet
Self-promotion goes against professional etiquette
But he had a way with words
To write many funny blurbs
About his family, his friends, and their pets

His books then made their way on TV
A film, a sequel, and shows on the BBC
But the man was unflattered by his fame 
After all, the critters still saw him the same!

RAINBOW IN THE DARK

I've always taken notice,, during our separated times;
                             Immediately moving on,
                 Never even stopping to take a look behind.
           So now it's finally over, and memories begin to fade;
         Leaving only behind, the ones where you treated me 
                                  So very, very unkind...
      God's karma for my youth, God's reminder for my future;
             Love is truly blind when you choose not to see...
                 My heart broken and depleted self esteem,
                 My mind still distorted even as I write this,
                             On a poems empty screen...
            The 20/20 vision I never have until the end 
            Shows me all the darkness, even as we first began...
     Any beauty that was once there, was unseen in all the dark;
           Like a peaceful evening rain as day turn's into dark;
         Or the familiar unseen sound of, a friendly dogs bark,
      .              We know that somewhere above us is a
                              RAINBOW IN THE DARK...

perhaps because when it comes to this particular view
our thinking is aligned….
He said:
