Have you read the note?
It speaks of the doom of the liquid element.
An inclement weather, grey, and with the fuss of a bleached lightning,
Besieges the tick of the clock.
Must have been a bland Sunday, which retreated
From the temerity of old wine,
Haunted by the lonesome refrains of exhausted hymns.
The belfry yawned loosely....
But quiet crept in like leprosy,
Hanging loops on loam-matted hair, black and fringy,
And nursing frets we held
When the wetted guitar strings would not strum....
Have you read her note?
Not the one of Mrs. Dalloway
Nor the one of Between the Acts,
But the one she cringed for —
That banal, invidious act, non-virginal,
Which haunts the church to this day.

Time for reflection
May I not rue, when life draws to an end,
Invidious, mean words which bring distress
Nor sigh, that precious time I did misspend
On frivolous pursuits of happiness.
Rather let warm benevolence hold sway
And solomonic wisdom guide my way.

See No Evil
Let not your vision be distorted by the green eyes
of jealousy that raises its invidious ugly head,
overflowing with cynical thoughts,
slithering like a serpent into visceral minds,
hiding like a virus in crepuscular crevices,
and in the pervasive penumbra of
desultory doubt and deep despair.
But heed the divine sonorous summons
to see all that is full of exuberant goodness,
opulent truth, and halcyon light.
crepuscular, desultory, exuberant, halcyon, visceral
cynical, sonorous, penumbra, opulent, jealousy

Nature’s invidious corn
With school, Genius is born!
With crayons of every colour
The World may lose dolour!
Like determined drudges
With gusto he smudges;
On my car, my painted wall
My Credit cards and my all!
***Dedicated to my Grade 1 Son; Elisha, whose crayons leave no walls unturned!

A beauty danced beneath pale moonlight,
While hypnotic song flurried on the breeze,
Distant, the voices tell of magic’s flight,
A heart is caught with such apparent ease,
And leads the self into its deathly plight.
A soul lies dying within grasping flame,
Confusion’s white heat burning at nerve tips,
Invisible fires bring the pain just the same,
The murderous hold a vice like grip,
And jealousy is her invidious name.

Envy eats at my eager overtone.
Airing aspirations of me alone.
Resenting ruse, requiring need.
Festering famine, for you I feed.
Covet creation, I crave carelessly.
Desiring deeply, damn fearlessly.
Greedily grasping for others gain
Invidious intrusion, idly insane.
Spitefully starving, stalking prey.
Jealously jaunting, without delay.
Longing lust, loathing your term.
Craving prosperity, cash I affirm.
Rendition of riches, reasons resent.
In umbrage euthanizing my consent.
Tilling your toils, for me you taste –
Conceding to my monetary embrace.
Eagerly empowering an envied state.
Devouring dignity, a diligent debate.
Victoriously vigor, voicelessly vim.
Gluttony so gracious, greedily grim.

Your crisis of conviction
Of the ages and the aging
Left me a bereft,
stupid, scarred leaf --
Trembling, weathered, soliciting
something of a haven from
Graver monsters still.
That I gave you
So much tarp on which to trample
And the bit of flower I cultivated
Continues to gnaw at me.
The caterpillar now chrysalis
You are morphing into something beautiful
While I a mere rotting, invidious corpse.
Please, I beg you,
fly off that I may collapse
or compose myself
(all compost and rot)
if not into something
good and true
At least into something else.
You don't recognize yourself anymore.
Neither do I:
bearing no resemblance
to a creature once beloved.

Ambivalence amends itself
when ambition challenges the amoral freedom
like the ambrosia we partook of,
something prohibited to humans...
that only the mythological gods
had the pleasure to enjoy;
and we adorn our heads with narcissus,
defying our worthless repulsion...
until we suffer the first defeat with dismay:
and as ambiguity leads to anguish,
there's little left that we can relish!
What if shame made us anonymous,
and all the senseless living done: were bleak existence,
cursing torment persistently to absolve every fault...
nipping the nocturnal stillness
with its fulsome, invariable obscurity?
We'll irrupt our consciousness,
make an invidious invocation to nothingness,
inviting helplessness irascibly:
and as ambiguity leads to anguish,
we have no choice but to invent excuses,
making up words to invert another unsound thought!

Wait Death
When in a hurriedly hurricane
An egg expounding hope
Slips, falls and cracks open
The mother bird stands helpless
Shall she weep for a child to come?
As if the invidious kite has done
The evil she witnesses
When a green growing fruit drops
It has denied a man its joy
It’s tree mother the fulfilling joy
Even in the face of drought
The planted seed cries for rain
When an owl sings
In the daylight
Again, a soul, a young soul goes
With bitterness and languish
Causing and abusing fate
He designs to renovate the Milky Way
A golden egg of a cock
Even the Angels Strike
Remorselessly death prepares for another
Do not dig out the yam in May
For you shall eat but okra- like yam
