Intemperate Poems | Examples

Luckily, It Stopped Before Q

Arbitrary patterns, be it said,
Behove a poet who has nought to say:
Consider if you will, the holy dread
Descending on him when he has to play

Egregious games of lexicon and sense:
Ferocious is his hunt for weighty meaning:
Garrulousness has no innate value - hence
Hermetic references, frantic gleaning,

Intemperate allusions all too often
Juxtaposed with useful phrases in a
Kulturkampf, with memes supposed to soften
Lacunae like the way we treated Jinna,

Matriculee of Lincoln’s Inn. No joke.
Nehru, Inner Temple. Things you learn!
Our planet is a stellar artichoke,
papaveraceous, as the Medes discern.

Premium MemberMy Name Is Malchus

I, Malchus, am not remembered for anything that I did.
Rather, I am remembered for what was done to me.
Not agreeable to many, but I was doing my job.

In so doing, I was attacked viciously by Peter
who quickly drew a sword and 'cut off my right ear'.
Peter, a disciple of Jesus, but intemperate in character.

Sure, he loved his teacher, but such defense wasn't necessary.
Fortunately, Jesus firmly rebuked Peter and 'healed my ear'.
Why, even in the name of religion, must we behave so violently?

rich man's blue

Rich man’s blue

A problem when a person meets someone
seriously, they lose their logical sense when
the rich person speaks to them or smile
They are ready to agree that the person says
is the truth, if we accept what he says
He makes mundane of going to Mars
we know his timeline is wrong
but what the heck, he foots the bill
I think of Elon Musk, who has become
the new Shreck role Putin had
But it didn’t sit well as old Putin looked cultural
Wear a nice tie and is a dog lover
His foray into German politics is brave and timely
the AfD can lift Germany out of the hole
she is in now and is making Germany strong again
As for his intemperate opinions about the UK
one can say they stirred up the reaction that
one thinks the British public was in favor of
if not the political leadership in that country.
We can ignore Elon Musj when he tramples
on our precious dignity
like the Vatican, he has no army divisions.

No storm as unpredictable as she
who leaves annihilation where she walks;
no telling what intemperate mood she’s in –
a maelstrom that conceals a sultry beauty.
No effort to be fashioned as we like,
instead, a growling snarl behind the
veil – furtive, and now hidden in the night,
awaiting truths that we are fearful of.
Yesterday’s for granted skies - so cloudless,
untroubled beauty clothed in flawless climes,
and here, within the eye, all is still, and
prayers and wishes in the quell are starry;
as another tumult taunts the edge of skies.
She pirouettes across this earthly stage and
while shedding tears that wash the sins of all,
reminds us just to cherish all that is (that's)
not measured by what others deem as best.
So, after nature waltzes through "what of"?
Destruction of "what was" will leave us dark,
yet, we are not the first to build again, and
won't forget when next the skies are bright!

The final words taken from Lord Byron
She walks in beauty like the night,
of cloudless climes and starry skies
and all that's best of dark and bright.

Premium MemberDrifts and Promises

Your sweet breaths and perfumes provoke so,
have I found love in this drift of circumstance?

DO you love me? If so, pray, swear it on the tireless sea,
whose thrashing cold, intemperate waters will last forever.

I swear it freely, on the sea, on breath, and on life itself
- may both be forfit should my vow prove shallow perjury.

As pronounced vows become curses, if they be lies,
truth only ripens, its harvest yielding the sweetest fruit

Premium MemberAgain To the Sea

I went down to watch the ocean this morning - well, Long Island Sound anyway. My last chance for a while, classes start tomorrow. I wonder sometimes how I can be refreshed by that gray, drizzly, melancholy harbor - locked in winter’s intemperate grip - but I am.

The salty air seems thicker and richer, the sky bigger and wilder. There’s the relaxing sound mix of wave and gull. The ugly brown pelicans arguing like old, married couples, as a lone fisherman, in his yellow macintosh slicker, sorts his boat lines under the watchful, hopeful, hungry eyes of floating black-backed gulls.

Maybe I should become a sailor? Besides, I hear it’s a great way to meet guys.

Storm is fierce but I elect
To wend my way towards the beach
Clad in foul weather gear I suspect
'twill be a push to reach.

Down a path, that's far too long
Hampered by intemperate force
Under Sou'wester singing song
The trail is lined with winter gorse.

Sand squishing under boot
Rain, wind, and waves
Ominous atmosphere feels acute
Suddenly feeling not too brave.

With trepidation I observe
Two boats surging within the storm
Volatile weather does unnerve
Wet and weary needing warmth.

Squelching back the way I came
Last look at seething angry sea
Ocean painting of great acclaim
Kodak moment will stay with me.

Traveler Without Rucksack

Traveler Without Rucksack
By Sy Roth

Aloneness, the traveler without rucksack
Beats the miles into your feet
A bare necessity for the nomad
For there are morns and sinking suns to see
In the endless desert of our lives.

The arroyo quickly fills,
Water tearing at its sides
Soon only a vestige of itself
Leaving a vacuity within.

It lingers there like a smug cat
Who only hisses at your approach,
Razor-sharp teeth a frightening calligraphy
Of life well-worn along its edges
Slogging through unshared moments
Pining for those who made
The last attempt to bamboozle Beelzebub.

We are all the omnivores who came before us
A marching parade of victims of inanities
Searching for silent answers
To the mystery on a congress of slime
That metastasizes into beings of promise
Who lose it ultimately in the miasma of time.

Build a brocade of flesh
Soon to be assimilated into nothingness
Await the temporal
For the intemperate readies to swallow you whole
No Bhagavad Gita guides you,
No ethical core to take you anywhere
Except to revel in a morn
And settle into a final, waning sun.

Oak Tree

Though torrents
of blinding snow
fall furious
though storms
spit lightning
cracks limbs
shreds my cloaks
diminishes me

reckon this

I endure
I fight
I prevail

My stoic
resolve undaunted
stars
those intemperate
fools
twinkle and die
the sun and moon
adulterers in
their affections.

My roots run deep
staunchly permanent
inside Mother Earth
I am steadfast
my presence
constant
immutable.

Ever to weather
Father Time’s
irrevocable
irremovable
perpetual
march
I remain
I persevere
I abide.

Moon Confession

Have been accused that the splendor of love has my praise,
constant change and its stimulation for the awaken days.
The longing, the calm, the touch and its astonishment,
illimitable desires, its creative expression and still content.
The many excuses and fears to cheat despair,
to know the madness to take the motion to bear.
Promised eternal love to cross that dark of life,
lovers eyes speak in that voluptuous light of strife.
Remembered potion of my beam in constellation,
embracing souls and glowing emancipation.
Immortal praise for all tenderness is given,
the inenarrable senses all driven.
The queen of love beaconed in dreamer’s nights,
cause of attraction’s magnificence.
Celestial loyalties in timeless sphere,
soothing away the troubles everywhere.
Holding the bond that made love to trust,
sacramental echoes of stardust.
Awake above the ego’s cry without doubt,
redeeming will humble allowed.
My waning intemperate indulgence not to blame,
unsheathed reality for the constant new again.
Possessions through the act of memory,
spectrums in light of progressive immortality.

Crush

I’m not writing this for you, silent intemperate witness
the same rain paints your canvas but lifeless
self neurosis constricts and binds rainbows
from adorning walls of crashing acidic lies
Honesty laced with empathy, is it that hard?

Crushing waves of apotheosis, honour and kin
the only traits noble of hominine sacrifice
left on broken blood soaked shores of lassitude
The web glues all whether you like it or not
lighting up every cell to stimulate interior growth

Reawaken to the facts and reconnect, everything is waiting
opposite the shores of occupation and self-immolation

T railing along a serpentine lane, curiosity allows
H unt of one mysterious journey where glimpses trace
E vening's silhouette reflecting a dream-like scenery.

H eavy vines enshroud an old manor’s archway
A s I peep quickly through its blood-stained corners --
U nderneath, ravens hover while evening befalls
N ot knowing my dress gets caught on a thick nail,
T hat hands quake while freeing its hem. Grotesque the room’s decor
E ntwined are torn drapes, candelabra, and antiquated portraits... I run
D efying moon’s bold sheen almost vague now, undone.

H eart pulsates from loud whimper of voices in hiding--
O angels dear, I need to escape, what could be my options?
U ntil a knob opens through zoom of intemperate breeze
S hrieking, hollering down a cracked ladder, feet dash off to
E nd this TERROR, a night’s venture, macabre.

Strange Sacred Feelings

I need you wild,
intemperate,
uninhibited,
and free

I need your feelings of dread and frailties,
stresses and uneasiness,
bad dreams and complexities,
defect and pity,
outrage and disarray,
tears and catastrophe.

I need to demonstrate to you how delightful your spirit is.
incredibly uncommon you are
much love and thoughtfulness you merit
I need the opportunity to cover up the barbed
edge of your not really
broken pieces and
cherish you totally.

I am hopeless romantic
who is afraid of real love.
for you my adoration
is sufficiently solid
to eradicate the agony of your past
relentless you from the vulnerability
of the present and
shield you from
the revulsions without bounds.

Nobody will kiss you as I do,
don't you know sweetheart?
I inhaled life once again into you.
