Premium Member fleeting moon

The quicksilver moon’s not secure in her orbit.
I’ve heard that she’s slyly slipping away,
One and a half inches yearly
so a little bit every day.

I, for one, want her to stay.
‘Oh meritorious silver sister, you have no dark side,
and I’ve grown used to your capricious light,
Why do you only hover at night?”

I think of her as my own
though she wears no ring
like that showy trollop Saturn
Our moon has a higher engagement pattern.

She’s a spectacle for moon-inspired dances
and a cupid for nocturnal animalistic romances.
Have you noticed that sometimes she’s dark
and sometimes she’s bright?

What turns her on?
What turns her off?
That’s always the question with ladies,
isn’t it?

Premium Member Oh Dear Alien Away Out There

Oh Dear Alien, I hear you've been,
   buzzing me in recent days.
With flying saucers and drones,
   scooping down here in droves.

Well I for one would love
you to come, and land for me,
To swoop me off my feet,
up into your cool dude craft.

Oh Dear Alien,
   far away out there.
I sent you a message
   to show that I care.
You gotta get me outta here.

I don't care what you look like,
green of skin, or pop-eyed as well.
I've seen you in the movies
   and E.T. looks just swell.

So common Mr Alien or anyone!
I'm looking to hitch a ride.
To somewhere else, anywhere else?
Out of this, my stale ale abide.

Oh Dear Alien,
   far away out there.
I sent you a message
   to show that I care.
You gotta get me outta here.

Premium Member Do You Ever Stop and Look Around?

We live in a beautiful world
So lucky we are, nature gives
but we take far too much
nature as I speak is crying.

Go for a walk away from every day life
look up into the sky, mountains a-high
breath taking soar high up on most sides
some are snow covered, others we see green.

Grass and trees fill their slopes dipping down
to valleys full of flowers and bubbling brooks.
shy animals peek out as we pass them by
around each corner awaits another surprise.

With such beauty how can we treat it so badly
we send pollution into the air, why I ask?
when we ourselves need to breath it,
is product so important we ignore the damage?

I, for one would rather see nature thriving
if we carrying on as we seem to be doing
this earth as we know it will become barren
is that what we want? I dont believe it is.

So I say lets act while we can
our world is worth saving
approach our governments
let them know this is unacceptable.

If enough of us make a stand
we can still save our beautiful world.

Premium Member To All the Poets Near and Far

To all the poets near and far
Alive and well or beyond the stars,
I bid you peace, I bid you rest,
I bid you all the very best.

Life and death may er’ contain
All the fruits of love and rain,
Showered down upon you all:
Promethean poets, great and small.

Long before we learned to write
But felt inside that burning light,
To share all thoughts, hopes, sadness, dreams
Propitious poets bear it all it seems.

From long ago and far away
And right up through this very day,
Countless came and left their mark
And we too, shall make a lasting spark.

Perhaps a mere morsel, a line or two
That lands upon a mind imbued,
With someone who like you or me
Finds sublimity in words like these.

Though words are not real things we touch
Like rivers, rocks, seashells and such,
But point the way back deep inside
Where memories last and love abides.

But I for one am smaller yet
Then everyone I’ve ever met,
Who picked up paper, pen or quill
And found their calling in the still

Of quiet nights and early morns
Waiting for ideas unborn,
From spirits sweet and dewdrops soft
I bid you all good thoughts aloft.

Premium Member War Pigs

All States have Deep States
They are dark, dangerous and delusional
But they control and control they do well

How are the world wars contrived?
Are these deep states stirring the pot?
What can we do individually to help?

Thousands are dying
Millions are crying
Yet countries are vying..

Vying to gain control and dominate
They share no love with the common man
It's as if the devil has surfaced and shown himself

I cry with my head in my hands
And I plead to the New World Order...
Please stop the killing fields

The young and the old, the women and the sick...
All are victims of innocence
When will the bombs stop?

You rest and you drink your tea
While soldiers hide in cold trenches
Not knowing when they will meet the next deadly bullet

I for one, care!
Stop the insanity!!
End all wars please!!!

Distrust is rife in consumers now..As arla 'steers' bovaer
Into innocent cows.) They can't say no to this moove we
Know.' So we must raise a stink ' lets all 'give it a real go'
I for one like to see strong kids.' Make strong adults and
Be real fit. I find it good to see well formed women and
Girls not that i'm letcherous.' I hasten to tell, its just good to
Know young men as I once was, can have a chance to enjoy the charms that such women do have.' So to those
Sad caricatures in black science.' I for one say, get your minds onto real improvements, for come what may.' We
Will not be killed by such poision of evil device, let us shout
From the roof tops and the streets, full of life' you can stick
Your bugs and any maggots you breed, down your own throats daah-lings and do have a big feed.' Send some to elton and rod; and mc'cartney oh and let them know.' By the
Way a new age is dawning, as all the people are waking
And as such they will not enter your play.!

The Foreign Land

And thus I see the Distant boat pass,
Smiling faces waving this land away,
Sailing to their warm homes tonight,
As I look on, here standing alone.

Tales perhaps, of the distant land,
They say, with a slight smirk,
There lives one's childhood,
Waiting for an embrace.

I for one, declare them heresay,
Whether as true as the blue in the sky,
For hope seems to be a venom,
A catalyst of a slow agonising death.

That's the only comfort I have,
For the distant ship sails on,
Leaving me stranded on the docks,
Of this distant foreign land.

The sea looks on forward,
Refusing to lock her eyes onto me,
Maybe ashamed of her great betrayal,
Maybe remorseful of her trust on this land.

Premium Member Poverty Is Expensive

Poverty is expensive
To those already poor -
Costing their time, wages

And spirit, yet they live
A hopeful porter
In their villages -

Subject to elitism.
I, for one, never
Received an invitation.

Longer Days

People love the longer days
For soaking up those sunshine rays
But I, for one, prefer the phase
Of darkened afternoons.

Since when the sun is all ablaze,
The time one spends indoors betrays
The natural urge to fresh-air graze
Near flowers and balloons.

Of course, the spring deserves its praise,
With gardens flaunting their displays
And I’ll conform to normal ways
Of Aprils, Mays and Junes.

But really, I like best to laze
Inside when tiredness outweighs
The late-day sun; my eyes just glaze
(Though most would say too soon).

Each person often sees,
only what they want to see in another person,
and that may only partially touch upon the truth,
of who that person really is.
But I, for one, am cool with that.
I admire the good qualities,
and pray over the perceived bad.

Premium Member Rainbows

RAINBOWS
Rainbows come out after the rain
A sight that you want to see again and again
I love all the wonderful colours I see
Nice and beautiful and bright as can be
Blue, yellow and orange up above
Other colours too that we all love
When I see a rainbow after the rain
Something tells me it will not be plain
Far from plain, rainbows are an amazing sight
Once you see one, it’s always a delight
Love the way they make me feel
Love that they are so unreal
One of the best sights you can see
We can always see a rainbow for free
Rainbows are a special thing
A special thing only rain can bring
I for one think they are great
Need some rain now, I can’t wait.

Premium Member Sincere Suggestions

I have wondered what Poetry Soup would be like
If poems submitted were subject to critical eyes
And contributors were free to critique the poems,
To say how they really feel about a poem, to analyze.

Of course, it cannot be, for we are a thin-skinned bunch
Often our feelings are hurt by the slightest correction
And, I am of the opinion having been here for a while
We all think we are so fantastic, we need no inspection.

Well, I, for one, realize my poetry would be much better
If I had the opinion of those who could read me critically
Not those who would merely wish to tear me down,
But who would help me become a better poet, literally.

I would welcome those kinds of sincere suggestions
Although, I must warn you, I don’t accept advice so well
So, be careful how you approach my best efforts,
I know my poems would improve if they laid aside a spell.

With this being said, let’s continue to be kind to each other
Appreciating each other’s comments and camaraderie,
But, if you see an obvious mistake in one of my offerings
Do not hesitate! Please, by all means, point it out to me.

Premium Member The Fourth Thursday of November

I often wonder why Election Day
is not on the fourth Thursday
        of November...

I, for one, would like a chance to select

Premium Member Blasts From the North Unappealing

October is greeted with a welcome sigh
By those who love the cooler seasons,
But many of us dread her temperament
And, we all have our personal reasons.
I, for one, revel in the warmth of spring
Long for the greening of May and June,
Anticipating the activities of summertime
During these months I sing a brighter tune.
I must admit I enjoy the holiday festivities
From Halloween fun to Christmas cheer,
But blasts from the north are unappealing
Leading to January and a brand-new year.
I’ll do my very best not to grouse and carp
As the mild temps plunge into low zeroes,
And I’ll try to be cheerful, raising a glass
To 2022’s victories, records, and heroes.
But I’ll not be convinced winter is terrific
While I am here shivering and shaking,
[Probably I’m suffering from another flu] –
When I say I have S.A.D., I’m not faking,
Enjoy your outings to the ski resorts, too,
But remember me here turning all blue!
