Premium Member Maui Needs Hope Not Hype

To visut Maui, would inject cash into local pockets
I hear many hotels, and other venues are untouched
By the fires? Just in the opposite side.' If i were able
I would go,knowing my contribution would go more
Likely where its needed.'? I an rushing off but thought
To post this in good will, for the people there, if I can
Do something? I cant thinj to rhyme this.' I know readers
Will understand, just a gesture from another human.'

Hype

hype
by Michelle Morris
08/12/2022

don't believe your own hype
you were built up from the ground
no matter how rich or famous
you'll always end up down

because no one lasts forever
we are mortal and we are frail
all we have is our legacy
and how much good we created

history is never perfect
so many stories are creative, not true
feelings will always fluctuate
as people perceive the news

money and power might buy you
honeyed words that drip with false praise
the media might love or hate you
but it's all part of a ratings game

so, don't believe your own hype
all that counts in the end is your soul
is it pure and filled with good works
or did you sell it for fame and gold?

we live in a fickle world
little minds that seem like big names
so often the truth is left behind
and egos rent labels that claim

ultimately you live and you die
there's no getting around that one
don't believe your hype; stay humble
and leave love and light behind

Bad Side of Media Hype

That's one thing about Media Hype:
A help to the The Low - Rated Type,
An unseeded challenger ripe
For a show down with Champion Tripe,
Who'd him not spare blows like a snipe,
On yielding flesh taking a swipe,
Blood permitting rush from slit pipe;
On challenger's body Christ's Stripe...

Many rimes Hypes have struck sad blows,
Blood on River Nile as it flows
Several times brought in stark pestle
For some chap to with it wrestle...

Face of one denied Media Hype
A parade of lines that could gripe

Who Am I

I being threatened to smile
But why you been telling me to cry
The thing that keeps me guessing is why
Not to keep the one who’s sly
At least he knows how to reply
Because world is a cruel piece to cry
The man, woman and all thereby
Are meant to hurt you and will try
They complement to make you weep and hype
Until you become the coldest one to fight
They tell you then to be the life
Of someone who doesn’t mind
But they keep pushing you to the side
To let you down in the grey and white
It is now your struggle to bring it right
Of what’s inside your head and thrice
Call your inner one to spikes
And tell them you are here to thrive
And show them this is WHO AM I

Headline News:
Cross the Seas Arrival
Killer Hornets Near

Relentless force of steroid nature
Buffed hornets in out-sized wing chanting
Swarm-buzz of aggression
Predators to hapless honey bees
Poison stings like silver arrows.
Venom shrapnel from combat incursion.
New fodder for Hollywood flick diversion.

Part of a new fear landscape
         in pandemic turmoil.
Forest peace destroyers in what
         flies, lurches and stings.
Fear in re-jigged planet living cringe.

Media bursts of unending dread.
More psychic danger than real threat?
Time of apocalypse reckoning?
Nothing here to sooth your nerves undone
Even so, in a biblical plague,
         shield your eyes,
         and run!

Whatever We is We are

Whatever We is We are . . . and have no doubt of this ever.

Whatever We is We are is something that should never be
denied. Why? Why Not?

Whatever We is We are speaks with a devout degree of both a
singularity and plurality in our human world with its simplicity,
complexity, and contradictions in both truth and honesty that
shape and define each of us, by fate and destiny, in the course
of our lives.

Whatever We is We are suggests to each of us to tell who we
really are without all of the metaphoric hype and subterfuge,
and the common notions of jiggery-pokery that, at times, does
pervade and corrupt human nature even in the best of us, no
matter how grand and great our intentions and actions may be.

Whatever We is We are . . . and have no doubt of this ever.

Premium Member Nothing More Than Hype

Coronavirus is nothing more than hype
from somebody who drinks Corona while smoking
But doesn't know how to type and has a gripe
With people who never even use a pipe-
perhaps in retribution for either Syrus or Sinope
and perhaps Asopus

A belief is nothing if nobody believes
and a belief is all that Corona Virus is
regardless of Tonic water and fizz when
combined by a chemistry whizz

There’s a Virus

There’s a virus! Let’s go mental quick
Lock up your valuables they might get sick
There’s a virus! The media’s gone crazy
You'll lose your hair and you'll become lazy
There’s a virus! Let’s all run for the hills
Grab your coffins because they say it kills!
There’s a virus! Abandon the schools!
That’s brilliant the government likes fools!
There’s a virus! Please give it a rest!
It kills the elderly if they don’t wear a vest!
There’s a virus! It’s just like last year
But the media love it because you're filled with fear!
There’s a virus! All right! crawling on all fours!
I’ll live like a hermit and won't go outdoors
There’s a virus! Well I’m ready to go!
I don't believe this over hyped, media show!
There’s a virus! But it’s now on page ten
There's something new and it all starts again!

Pasquinade

Sweet is equally sweet to all mortal tongues,
Choice morsels sate all men's starved pangs;
Brilliant sights of plenty charm every eye right,
And friends against foes for shinier spoils fight.

Why then do many in want of fine things stand;
Or, how come keenest mouths on gravel feed?
What alters those picky looks on life's shelves
That tell the greatest from the blandest breed?

Sheer wishful cravings for tasty bites alone,
Can't tear sumptuous meat from obtuse bone;
Nor can mere oglings turn fate's mulish thread,
That pins all sojourners on the hardened tread.

Life's fortunate farers got loads of apt swag:
Maybe just a weird tooth for plaintive rhyme,
Or a bankrupt itching to benefit others' souls;
Artful ploys to outshine the sly guiles of dime.

Prized strokes of luck eschew the clinical type,
And smile on stony folks immune to their hype.

Hype

So many of us will sell ourselves for the "hype"
Just for a moment in the limelight
Selling their souls for minute of fame, just to see their names in the big bright lights
It can't be easy living in a lie
You can't pay your bills but you wear million dollar hairstyles and name brand shoes just to maintain the "hype"
The Bling Bling life and the social media likes that's all in the "hype"
Driving a Range Rover and you still paying rent. How does that spell sense ? Just to be in the" hype " in the limelight
Fame must have an expensive price
You sleep with Dick, Tom and Harry just to be on the arms of man that the media calls a star
Yes, the "hype " has an expensive price
You sell your values for a moment of fame, all in the name of a" HYPE "
What an expensive price to pay for moment of fame.

Premium Member East Coast Hype

(A Blank Verse Sonnet)

At fifty-two, a new career is launched
in beauty firm installed on eastern shore,
to aid all those who live with problem skin.
As sales increase, adventure swells; she wins
awards, free trips, new friends, and diamond rings.
With pride, she dons the pen for “Be a Ten,”
and coast to coast arrangements spell her norm.
But, friendships wane on jaunty trips, the trek
becomes a stress which brings her less and less
content to show the aloe glow as proof
that older skin need not begin to wear
a shriveled face, but wear a youthful tone.
And yet, the spark with eastern hype instilled
a drive to stay the course throughout her life.
