I saw a man
Hugging a rhino,
Why he was
I really don’t know!
I know some people
Like to hug a tree,
But a stuffed rhino
In a museum,
This surely can’t be!

Love came to me like a warm fire
Hugging me in a cold wintry night
As a burning bush you engulfed me
In your flames of desire
A little delay till our souls met
Never caused any harm
It was God's miracle
That brought us together in this cosmic bond
But it takes time to embrace the pain
Of not having you near
And loving you wholeheartedly strong.

Stay sweet in love
Hugging you while you sleep
Sign that man loves you.

mommy dropped to her knees
right there in the Kansas City airport
pulling her baby into her body
She could never get enough hugging
Her daughter was thrilled to see her
and luckily did not understand how close mommy came
to not ever returning home from Iraq

When I was young I wasn't much into hugs
or prolonged touch..
I tolerated a peck on the cheek or a kiss
on the forehead before falling asleep..
Probably due to my older sis and her bear like
hugging, a mixture of love and her strength,
that often felt like a mugging..
Many a time I'd balk at requests to be hugged,
two bodies colliding.
It felt too intrusive to me and awkwardly confining.
My second husband changed this all and in time
my hugging dislike was solved.
He gave such secure and comforting hugs, my body
would melt with the strength of his love.
Once a client asked me for a hug at the end of his massage session.
This is a definite red flag for therapists in that profession.
In these recent years now I live alone, several hours from family
and my native home.
At times I miss the intimacy of a hug, that close and calming connection
that leaves one feeling snug.
I'm certain there's others who feel the same way. Why don't we have free
hugging stations for humans today?
You go to the gas station and get a free hug, while the car's tank is filling you also feel love!

Hugging is my favorite gesture
Not this time. No, not anymore
Just an exchange of sweet flying kiss
With closed eyes and protruding lips
Let’s show true love and care
Protect each other from virus- don’t share

I am going on a sabbatical
And the first thing I wonder is
Will my trees greet me
If I leave for a week?
I was only gone once before
For a week
And my trees waved me into my driveway.
I had planted the bulk of them.
They began waving in frenzied way
The second I turned my car in at the top of the hill
They waved with glee, showing me their limber limbs.
The second the car stopped, the trees stood still.
My husband ran out and asked “What is up with those trees?”
“I guess they are glad to see me,” I told him.
He had no other comment. He knows I am a tree-hugging spiritualist.

Hugging means everything to some
It is shunned by a few
I feel sorry for those who cannot hug
I had to teach my mother how to hug me
She never could when I was a child
But she could hug my children readily
I observed this and began to hug her first.
The first few times I hugged her, she flinched.
It may have taken ten or eleven goodbye hugs
I knew that she caught on, and liked it.
because she began reaching for me first.
These were the best hugs, the ones I needed the most.
The ones I missed growing up.
The ones that would have soothed me in so many ways.
Now my mother is gone.
It has been two years since I had one of her hugs.
When I get to heaven I hope to have them again.
They meant everything to my child within.

Tap dance through life if you must
munch all the gum drops that it offers
paint a million roses on misty mirrors
denial always tap-taps along rainbows
but never roots the truth from darkness.
You frolic in waters different than mine
a fantasy stream always half smiling
what you call living life to the fullest
is really a life filled with half a shine-
Most everyday my heart is eclipsed
as I sip the brackish waters of truth
for it's the only cure for societal blindness
but I don't like ugly anymore than you do-
I prefer slogging slowly through thorn and grist
while you tap tap a path of fools gold and petal
but when life closes the blackest of curtains
we'll be hugging the same cool breast of death-

The end is in sight although barely
Think positive we will survive, are you ready
All of a sudden
Like pushing a button
Laughing and kissing and hugging your teddy

Fireworks,
Inside and out,
Happy faces on streets,
Hugging, Kissing, Playing, Dancing,
in glee..
The little monster who jailed us,
who dug graves of loved ones,
The King of rift,
Lay dead.

An elephant in Zimbabwe
Hi-fived with a soft trunky sway.
Then wanting to play
She continued her day
With a hug for the human who waved.

Has this ever happened to you at a ballgame
Your team hits a homer to win, the crowd goes insane
Two male strangers
Unaware of the dangers
They sheepishly sit down, feel they need to explain
