Free Hugging Stations

When I was young I wasn't much into hugs
or prolonged touch..
I tolerated a peck on the cheek or a kiss
on the forehead before falling asleep..
Probably due to my older sis and her bear like
hugging, a mixture of love and her strength,
that often felt like a mugging..
Many a time I'd balk at requests to be hugged,
two bodies colliding.
It felt too intrusive to me and awkwardly confining.
My second husband changed this all and in time
my hugging dislike was solved.
He gave such secure and comforting hugs, my body
would melt with the strength of his love.
Once a client asked me for a hug at the end of his massage session.
This is a definite red flag for therapists in that profession.
In these recent years now I live alone, several hours from family
and my native home.
At times I miss the intimacy of a hug, that close and calming connection
that leaves one feeling snug.
I'm certain there's others who feel the same way. Why don't we have free
hugging stations for humans today?
You go to the gas station and get a free hug, while the car's tank is filling you also feel love!

Especially us seniors, Nancy. We all need a designated hugger or two. :-) Big Hugs, Bill

I wish you bear hugs, Nancy! I feel for you, no one should ever have to feel lonely, but that is reality. Hey, why don't you start a hug station, or... I see around the petting dogs! Have you heard of them? Hope you get your hugs~ Anaya

thank you sweet Anaya but to clarify I stay quite busy politically and in other aspects and this was just a brief feeling but I do think that it would be some thing to offer others who are now more alone in our socially distanced and isolated world. I felt your big hug though and thanks!

Your poem really touched me dear Nancy. Really poignant. I think that would be a very good idea for those who wanted to participate. I’m sending you a big hug and lots of smiles :):) :)

Hi Ink, I guess I was feeling a little lonely and touch deprived yesterday when I wrote this. I will be visiting another massage therapist soon and indulge in a massage. The need for touch in our modern world is pervasive. Thanks for your visit and have a blessed day.

Your poem captures the essence of longing for intimacy and the warmth that a simple hug can provide, especially when living far from family and home. Your suggestion of "free hugging stations" is a brilliant and heartwarming idea, emphasizing the universal need for human touch and the love it can convey.

Hi Jan, It's always wonderful to hear from you and your wonderful funny poems. I guess I was feeling a bit lonely when I penned it yesterday. I am stuck on how to market it though with out getting those who want more then just a hug?
