I Walked The Heath

I walked the heath
and the sun
but revel
in my maker’s glare
do I stall
if this lustrous scene
unfolds unbound
without me
or does it play on
regardless
and I walk this sun
upon this heath
forever

Upon the Heath

After the greedily laden cirrus' lighten their loads,
a dog day returns to our suburban sanctuary.
As the mercury ascends like a climber captured in a glass tube,
the heath's heady aromas revoke our remorse.
Tangled brier and spiky scrub emit their balm:
a conspicuously redolent cocktail of coconut and cabbage.
Backlit baubles of liquid sunshine dazzle the view,
while defying gravity on their barbed roosts.
Suspended above the sodden, verdant heath, like an ethereal spirit,
another cloud hangs low, as if a subterranean lava lake -
once dormant - has been aroused from its viscous langour.
The transient torrent which incited the tribes to take refuge -
now passed - invites its flock to flood back onto the pasture.

Games Not To End In Death

Don’t start a game ending in death,
Something there: forfeiture of breath!
Don’t mind Superstar Bruce Lee,
His Game of Death Kung Fu we see.
Next, the player lodged in some heath,
To The Living Death: Living Threat!”

Don’t think of a game marked by risk.
The sort guys start and taste the whisk
“You’re a rogue who’d begun to frisk:
You were breathing fast, your steps brisk!”

Great hopes from games lovers treasure:
Don’t think its pleasure a measure:
You wrongly measure its pleasure,
Games should often be for leisure…

Addressed I have one’s intellect:
A message for it to collect.

Premium Member In the Oak-Heath Forest

In oak-heath forest you might be
one wonderful spring day.
Go search for heath beneath a tree.
Perhaps small faeries you will see
and other wee folk there at play
in early dawn’s first ray.

One time while I was walking there
one fair May day, I saw
a sight so beautiful and rare:
Wee folk had gathered unaware
that I was watching with such awe
I must have dropped my jaw!

A babe they baptized underneath
(now are you listening?)
dew's water dripping from white heath
which formed on the babe’s head a wreath.
I’d happened on his christening!
Dewdrops were glistening.

Premium Member Heath

Back feet splayed.
He lowers himself.

I know he is in pain.
But he raises his grey muzzle

And looks me in the eyes
And I know he knows I am the same.

He comes for comfort and I
Put both hands on the sides of his face

And know I can infuse the love and memories
of all the good years we have had.

I believe the touch has some magic.
Heath is resting now and tomorrow is another day

For both of us.

Wildmoor Heath Boardwalk Crossing

SLOW MOVEMENT

Move out from tall trees - to wider scene now
Tympanic rhythm - andante theme
As footsteps beat on - path of the Ash beam
In diverse prospect - wet levels gleam
Look to the surface - life is reflected
Now mirrors brightening - skies cerulean

See over there the - new view surveyed now
Past tawny grasses - strewn by wind laid
Birch saplings dapple - hazel and apple
Amber the dry fern - dashed now with jade
Where silver stems - surround sun-bright vale there
Small stream descends in - glistening cascade

Over above In - slow closing distance
Land rises to - overlook languid fen
Our destination - draws our steps on to
Reach barrow slopes - fields of wider ken

So measured pace continues ‘til then
While spirit moves to hilltop ascend

Doctaters Orders

We are ordered to provide notice to avoid a global psychosis.
Your dedication to take this medication will give you the perfect prognosis.
Take your pills to ward off those ills. They affect your brain, you’ll all find.
It’s better for society that we remove this anxiety from your very unhealthy minds.
It’s a worldwide confession that we all have depression, A phenomenon from the beginning of time.
The men in the labs provide capsules and jabs ... to refuse will become a crime.

February On Wildmoor Heath

FEBRUARY ON WILDMOOR HEATH

Across the Heath the chill'ed land is sleeping
The cyclic pattern of seasonal life bespeaking
Bushes hunched, bare trees holding themselves still
Not restrained by death but life's farseeing will

The grasses, sedge and reeds withered dried and flaxen
Restrained soft shades of colours' rarefaction
Only holly and pine maintain pigmentation verdant
Not yet time to select a spectrum more divergent

With wisdom each life employs a cautious strategy
Not now to dare the relentless advance of entropy
They bide their time, for the moment they can delay
The ineluctable annual vernal affray

In a score of days and nights life will be stirring
The survival drive restored and action spurring
Mother Nature will awaken stretch and yawn
But for now deepest sleep is just before the dawn

HEALTH CARE

Rip Heath Ledger

You've portrayed the lives of many
A soldier, a son, a dad, and the enemy

Who I ask, shall portray your life
In a story to reveal your demise

The Big Screen carries your legacy
Your family keeps quite a memory

Her Daddy she can always see
By watching his movies on T.V.

Such a talent you beheld
Quite a story to be a tale

"Why so serious?" as Joker will say
One of the favorite roles you play

Far to young, to go away
May you rest in peace where you lay

A knight in shining armour you'll be
When again your face, your family will see.
