In the Oak-Heath Forest

In oak-heath forest you might be
one wonderful spring day.
Go search for heath beneath a tree.
Perhaps small faeries you will see
and other wee folk there at play
in early dawn’s first ray.

One time while I was walking there
one fair May day, I saw
a sight so beautiful and rare:
Wee folk had gathered unaware
that I was watching with such awe
I must have dropped my jaw!

A babe they baptized underneath
(now are you listening?)
dew's water dripping from white heath
which formed on the babe’s head a wreath.
I’d happened on his christening!
Dewdrops were glistening.

Hello Andrea, Congratulations on your selection with this sparking gem. I have read your marvellous Comma Rules Article which shed light on the pitfalls of this aspect of literary skills. Writing extended prose pieces is something I love. You’d be much better at it than I am judging by your poems. Once more thanks for your insights on my stories Howard

Dear Andrea, you honor the tender dewdrop, so pure and fragile in nature, with the exquisite whimsy, imagery and beauty of this poem. What better baptism could a pure and fragile babe have than with dew drops? Imagination, inspiration and poetic prowess shine in this splendid piece, my friend! I think this will place high on the win list! Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

thanks, I wish you were right, but I revised it too late, I think. He blogged about people making little mistakes and I realized I had messed syllable count by mixing two lines up. I reshuffled them, but if I lose, I bet it's for that! (or maybe for the fact that I strayed from description of dewdrop into fantasy realm)

You create a beautiful fantasy, would love to be in your head to view your dreams, they must be in color and magical.

I don't dream this kind of stuff, dear sister. I dream modern day things which are very entertaining to me, whether they are mysteries, surreal or weird things. It would be nice to dream of this stuff instead. Oh, and yes, I dream in color. Don't you?
