Darkness falls as a blanket of shelter.
It negates the ever present, indifferent pain,
it grads you from danger,
and lets others feel your fear.
Darkness closes off the most
vulnerable parts,
the parts that hurt the most,
it gives you strength to dominate feelings,
for darkness is feared above all.
It is powerful beyond the thoughts of man, it’s more engulfing then you dear to believe
for darkness is not just a place for evil as light is for a place of good.
Good is found in he darkness
safety can be found within the consciousness and confines of darkness.
It demonstrates that though you may feel alone,
and though things make no sense,
you are still worthy,
worthy of the ones you love
and who love you
your inner self your reflection
your terrified self.
all of you are seen and loved.
Light is scary,
light is dangerous
it exposes the vulnerabilities and makes perception of weakness and conformity a target so big it gets harder and harder to miss with each passing day.
Light gives way to monsters,
No longer a need to hide
Rather suffocating the air
The once promised our freedom.
darkness my friend where have you been
three years quickly flew
yet they cast sweet days-
lasting memories
reassigned close by
our dear West Point grads-
gifted us these years
granddaughter, husband
arrived hand in hand-
soon to leave as four
baby boy and girl
born in these three years-
they must now deploy
sad now they must leave
ages three and one-
from birth watched them grow
assigned here by fate
they bore two great-grands-
gifting us much joy
Promising to solve age-old problems very soon
a year or two, at most, from our graduation in June
I myself was sure that poverty could be licked right quick
yet 50 years later it’s still on the uptick
A friend of mine told me in a decade racism would be dead
but even today, it rears its ugly head
And as for wars, they’ve gained momentum, fiercer than ever
governments’ ‘permanent endeavor’
So, here’s to all you cocksure, problem-solving new grads, oh-so-clever
~ May yours be the first generation to live forever…
Beyond the relics stance tainted feigned glory,
the achievers had gifted us their puzzles,
speckled based best in their field of theory,
like Baia hot baths, can't stomach its guzzles,
aloft or cavernous, or in a quarry,
like those Pyramid guys fuss up their fuzzles,
as rock piles escape while history depicts,
the bookshelves leave those green stains with those quick picks.
Millenniums, centuries, decades, plus years,
anthropologists helped by benefactors,
busy in their research before disasters,
like Baia downed in Naples Bay, off its shores,
letters for funding by their alma maters,
reach prosperous grads where old money outpours,
and achievers will have their dribblings published,
skilled wins the Nobel Prize as greatly cherished.
Educated Ignorance

This years Graduation day,
is far from the norm.
The stages “Grads “walk,
are now a hate platform.
Thugs are making “Grad day,”
a day, easy to recall.
But for the wrong reason,
it’s now filled with appall.
What this country now needs,
is a much stronger hand.
Because force is the only thing,
haters seem to understand.
How I long for the day,
when this trend will abate.
But then, I know only God,
can rid a heart of it’s hate.
Recently, I awoke
from a very specific dream--
In which I expressed
my getting-a-B.A. scheme
A long-time ambition
I've put on the back-burner
Delayed because I'm not
much of a wage-earner
It'd be easier to succeed
with a B.A. under my belt?
Hard to get there
with low self-esteem (as I've felt)
Plus it'd make my outlook on life
more well-rounded
Even if all that online study
makes me feel grounded
But as for a potential professional job
without a degree
I'm looking into Indexing --
might be just right for me!
Then if I can support my education
financially that way
I hopefully will join the ranks
of B.A. grads someday...
Whether or not I go after
this accomplishment, I will age
The question is, by that time,
do I wish to be more sage?
But I tend to get discouraged
and distracted; so no promise
Perhaps I can enlist
the smarty-pants prayers of St. Thomas
You study hard, to get good grads
and with all that stress, you have made the grade
When you have finished, you bring out a sigh
and then you plan, to party with the clan
With all those drinks, you’ll get rid of stress
but when you wake, you’ll feel so fake
stationed at kissing desks
I feel the implode of anxiety
within this sweathouse of labor and woe
telephones chime
with the sweet rhythm of security
being enslaved can be a joy all its own
ungrateful maybe
but a yet to be defined pay scale
can mean so much in a bunker
filled with high school grads
through the fog and thunder
of these cackling underachievers
who slam file drawers in disgust
a voice sweet and low says onto me
hey you wanna' f---
Fifty per cent
of Harvard grads
opt for finance or consulting
The percentage who go into teaching?
That figure's downright discomfiting
~ disgraceful, insulting.
The best and brightest manipulate money
~ Future generations won't find that so funny
These days it's clearly the fashion
To tell college grads: "Follow your passion."
Yet consider this quick note of caution:
Make sure with your passion you'll cash in.
For Example:
What if your passion is playing trombone?
You spend years and years trying to hone
The skill to emit the purest of tones;
But will you reap what you've sown?
Or simply work your fingers to the bone,
So you can stand in line for a loan?
Remember:
In life it pays to be practical,
Neither over didactical or under tactical;
For it not, the consequences
Tend to be quite 'dramatical,'
Or possibly morbidly theatrical.
Bottom Line:
So when deciding on what occupation to make your splash in,
Do not necessarily follow your passion,
Especially if it's something quite asinine.
Sign up instead for MY 'profession:'
Do as I say, not what you're best in!
Three long years ago
I first entered these marbled walls
Now with glory and honor pride
Intervened in me we go down in history
On through the day we celebrate
All those electives
We forget our enemy's our foes rejoicing now in love
And ignore bitter's hate
As we walk across the stage
As I journey down the stairs
Tousle floating in my hair
Gladly eyes start to stare
As I walk down the corridors
I smile on through the day we celebrate
We forget our enemy's are foes rejoice in love
And ignore the bitter hate they may resonate
Little wonder how when I was young
I spied how I wanted to make that journey
Like my brothers and sister did
A long, long time ago
Oh, Lord yeah
I'm so happy Diploma in my hand
My people racing to the grandstands
Cheering, clapping ever so happy
While I stand on the podium with my hand out
Waiting for the grand slam while my people holler, shout
Handing me my diploma a sheet of paper
Rolled up paper they call it the tablet of learnt life

The cruel streets I walked made me sad
I looked not at him, nor at her
Those who passed me by, gutter grads
I felt at home among the curs
We were outcasts from hearth and home
Over the land our kind did roam.
Looking here and then searching there
As many as stars in the sky
By foot, by car, sometimes by air
We wanted to understand why
We couldn't go back where we'd been
Burned our bridges and that's a sin.
Some were poets within their hearts
A killer or two in the crowd
And some were like me; a la carte
Doing what it took to be proud
Some chased women, some ran from them
And in the melee some lost a gem.
I sit here writing words of mine
Wondering how many are left
Who write words and sell for a dime
I have escaped death's cold, cold theft
I have fought the fight and I've won
I'm old yes, but I've just begun
Fireworks, like gunshots,
Make great and astounding sound
Congrats, GRADS! Good luck!
Crowds of commotion
Party like no tomorrow
Happy, HARD future!
Happiness and cheer
Overflow in everyone
I'm simply...in awe! C-x
Grand Graduation!

Sad to see them go . . . .... . . ... .. . . . . .
The College Graduation
By Elton Camp
To a life of prosperity, you see
Your college degree is the key
Commencement speaker did say
Each and every expected cliché
“Not an end, but a beginning
The race of life you’re winning”
“Why, the first thing that you know
You will be bringing in lots of dough”
But as was the college’s intention
Certain things he didn’t mention
Jobs will prove hard to come by
No matter how hard they may try
Massive student loans come due
What will the hapless grads do?
Even bankruptcy won’t wipe ‘em out
“Pay up or else!” the lenders shout
Those who fail to pay what they owe
It’s off to debtor’s prison they may go
The grads have the world by the tail,
Let’s just hope they don’t go to jail
Words Gone Rag
what a pity
how absurd
college grads have lost their words
latent grammar
dead vocab
grab at every
prep they have
don't know what the trouble is...
at computers they can whiz
don't know what will happen next----
whatever it is
will be found
