GLOBAL WARMING

Because of global warming
The ice caps are melting
Much faster and it's falling
By the chunks causing
Sea levels to rise tremendously
And creating devastating flooding
Because the water has to settle
Somewhere, it's starting to remind me
Of the movie WATERWORLD and
How those people had to live/

Global Warming 2100

The mountains wept.
The skies moaned.
The soil trembled.
The trees whispered their last green prayers—
"Man has destroyed us... alone."

He who adds no value
takes all,
then leaves nothing—
just wastelands where rivers once sang.

The year was 2100.
Half of Britain—gone beneath the Atlantic.
Japan—smaller than a dot on a map.
American states—flooded into memory.
Europe—erased.
Russia’s frost—melted into pestilence.

Africa— Famine became the air.
Children born on rafts,
fields drowned or cracked open in grief.

China— Cities sleep beneath the sea,
towers weep salt into silence.

We were warned.
But greed was louder than science,
stronger than truth,
crueler than time.

Now the Earth writes back
in flood, famine, fire—
her final signature: sorrow.

Let this not be prophecy.
Let this be the scream
that wakes the world.

GLOBAL WARMING

I remember those summers as a boy,
When the sun shone down from morning till night.
That sun on our backs brought us so much joy
And we laughed at those who’s skin was still white.
We knew nothing back then of UV rays,
As we lay on the beach by the ocean.
Sometimes we burnt on the hottest of days
And Mum applied some calamine lotion.
But now, of course, the scientists advise
Avoiding UV rays and CFC’s.
Each year the temperature will rise.
The human race will soon be on its knees.
Our planet will burn up, as likely as not,
As Cole Porter put it, “It’s Too Darn Hot.”

Text

To meet converse
give me a ring
hmu
perchance communicate
'twould be a fine thing
if it were so
but no
wtf
lower case letters and emojis
are the way of the day
mostly with nothing much to say
smh
no wonder the globe is warming
with all the power used and abused
omg
but what did they find
to fill their tiny minds
lol
before they owned
their so-called smart phone
idk

Torrid Affair

If, as the saying goes,
'There's no smoke without fire,'
is it smarter to ignite a spark
(illumination causation)
than bedamn the dark,
and thereby induce a funeral pyre,
or, better yet, a safer bet,
to avoid gossip and accusations,
find the substantiated fact(s)
(true datum)
before you act
and land in sorry situations?
It's no joke, on soot you'll choke,
yet, on the greener side,
carry the torch for earth non-scorched
but best your light you hide,
(it may be life-transforming)
beneath an unburnt bush,
so as not to incur global warming.

Global Warming

what have we done
for glaciers to melt so fast
for forest fires to flare so often
for tornadoes to rage so strongly
for droughts to occur oft and anon
for flash floods to recur time and again

GLOBAL WARMING

Summer is here the sun shine dim,
The rays no longer burn
The world became cold.
Flowers stopped growing
Rejected by the sun,
Slowly dieing the world is no longer fun.
It's the last hour struggling to survive,
Distant by souls time for goodbye.
The past is frozen soon to be forgotten,
Like ripe fruit slowly becoming rotten.
The ocean calm the world keeps turning,
Active Volcano with no lava burning.
Spring has no joy Autumn confused,
The world is lost but what can it do

Victoriab Gift

Victorian Gift

Thank us for the gift we give
The steam train running the rails
All it cost is a piece of coal, and the smoke we give to the air
Thank us for the gift we give
The steam ship ruling the waves of blue
All it cost is a piece of coal, and the smoke we give to the air
Thank us for the gift we give
The industrial revolution running on the steam we give
All it cost is a piece of coal, and the smoke we give to the air
Thank us for the gift we give
Street lighting
All it cost is a piece of coal, and the smoke we give to the air
Thank us for the gift we give
Warm winter homes
All it cost is a piece of coal, and the smoke we give to the air
Thank us for the gift we give
The rising seas and global warming
All it cost is a piece of coal, and the smoke we give to the air

How did I not see this before?
The green of the trees
 with their cornucopia of shades
Layered and punctuated periodically
with a unique dapple of light
Amid the litany of man's failing
 concrete towers
The leafy giants stride imperceptibly
 towards notoriety
Saving the planet
 one gramme at a time
As the humans race past.
The leisurely somnambulants
 biding, stretching, organically
  rooted in their dancing
   to the alternate tune
    of Nature's longevity

Premium MemberThe Global Warming Experts

The so-called experts have been saying lately
There's a slow down in global warming
It's true, it hasn't been very tropical lately
Global warming is under performing

Do you think it's possible it just could be
A normal fluctuation in the world's temps
But who am I to offer this assessment
Why they're fluctuating to this extent

Could it possibly be the experts have it wrong
Oh forgive me for suggesting such a thing
After years and years in “forecasting” school
With diplomas under their wing

Weather forecasting is a lot of guesswork
Next to impossible to predict the future
There's so many variables to affect the outcome
Even with all those fancy computers

Premium MemberAmazing Gretta

Dearest Gretta,
The world stands amazed at your powerful voice
at such an early age..
The call to action, the dire global truth, so eloquently
shared by one in her youth..
During you're sabbatical, the powerful petition
you made to world leaders to confront carbon emissions..
Holding them accountable for their promises of change.
You also met with scientists to discuss an acceptable range..
Waking people up to this stark reality that our daily
consumer habits need to be altered radically.
When purchasing food we must be attentive to what we buy.
Did it arrive here by boat or the more carbon costly sky?
Global warming is not distant, not fifty years away.
It's urgent and it's now and we must all act today!!

Heat waves scorch the Earth,
Ice caps melt, oceans rise high,
Nature’s cry unheard.

Man’s reckless actions,
Pollute air, land, and water.
Planet’s plea ignored.

With climate in flux,
We must act to save our home.
A fragile balance.
