Mourning Reflection

I picked up eclipse glasses, crumpled on the street
It caused the pause reflection brings when unlike minds should meet

With no regard we oft discard the fashion of the day
No cosmologic mirror, we hasten on our way

Same time the rhyme that is the pond, ornithologic splendor
Graced the sky there in my eye, sweet nature as its sender

Earlier a chance encounter prompted thoughts of scale
As I dodged a mounted fender fellow and lived to tell the tale

Perhaps because the Universe expands beyond our ken
We can't escape the breakneck pace that plagues the mass of men

I'm thankful now, at this remove, I did not join the glass
And stopped to think… and it's the key… to not let this thought pass

UP, and away I go, Hello Mexico!

It's my annual Vacation.

Those Frequent Flyer miles sure saved my Cash,

Except from Thirst and Starvation!

Round ended, Well blended, Senoritas,

There'd be no Fender I'd pass!

Mary Jane and Three more Margaritas,

AAH! It's Splendor in the Grass!

nurseries green and pennies brown

hello brother,
 irish hearing of translations

in american creole we leave, ears are not left nor right
they perk and grass talls to a tickling memory for running up to the hairs of trigger
trigger is limber and frequiently as december
bestow herselfish visits when attendants of time
dare not his fender
his fender glides in names as thumper
neither care to scamper yet both shall parent springs

Premium MemberRudolf's Broken Leg

It was December twenty-fourth
when Rudolf went on a bender.
This red-nosed hero from the north,
a lousy driver, drink did render.

He went out on a tear
and rammed into Blitzen's fender.
Santa was in despair
Rudy broke his leg, needed a public defender.

Rudolf's gal said she'd guide the sleigh,
though she was another gender.
Now, Saint Nick was on his way,
when Rudolf, he did lend her.

Premium MemberWe Cannot Take Passengers

We cannot take passengers mice cautioned me
But the blue spotted frog was desperate you see
Hang on to the fender, I told him in the kindest way
Thanks for the ride! He said. You have made my day!

A miniature chickadee swooped down from her perch.
We are delivering groceries! Yelled out the grouchy mouse Berch.
It is okay, I told him as long as we get it all delivered today.
We picked up six more passengers before the end of the day.

Premium MemberA Tall Tale From a Short Woman

We were all on a turquoise moped on Interstate 635.
Mr. P.U. Fancy Pants Panda of course, got to drive.
He is arrogant, and thus is always the boss.
This was stated firmly by my pal Ross

Ross cannot drive, he is way too nervous and tall.
His hooves also land on both pedals, no help at all.
Meerkat is hanging on the fender by his tippy toes.
Snowy owl is getting exhaust fumes up his delicate nose.

Wait! Someone said, doesn’t an owl have a beak?
This made panda angry, he had given no one permission to speak.
Quite a day on the road with the gang who escaped from Michigan.
If you call me up on the phone, I can tell you this whole story again.

Last Riff

Pounding each key
like a Fender Rhodes
the computer bent and wailed
Bits and bytes
of encrypted language
messages derailed

Memory freezes
last chance rebooted
restart zero-sum
The riff uncapped
its printout fading
—typeface on the run

The Last Stag

He ventured from
the wooded square acred forest that remained
in search of food and a companion or two,
there was neither;
down along the rows of $600, 000 homes,
5000 square foot monoliths for two and a child
fenced in against the surrounding world,
traveling along, alone on a desolate
  macadam paved roads
and the concrete stepping stones
 that ached
  in the touch on his swollen hooves;
it was the three o'clock hour
the darkness surrounding the early morning hours,
no traffic sounded on the pavement,
he stepped cautiously listening
straining to reach the other side
as the car reared its fender against him
it raced away pushing him to the curb
 where he lay slowly dying
  stretching his life into extinction
lost to the progress of mankind.

Premium MemberLife's Ups and Downs - and Ups

I went to a museum Saturday
enjoying art with daughter, friend, and wife.
It was our daughter's 30th birthday-
a lovely way to celebrate her life!
Then clouds descended on our afternoon.
Discovering, returning to my car
some driver turned the corner far too soon
and mashed my fender, leaving a black scar.
But, lest the hit-and-run scar irritate,
two witnesses displaying kindness, wrote
the color, model, make, and license plate,
and left it on my windshield as a note.
Discouraged by one driver's thoughtlessness
Encouraged by two witnesses' largesse.

Delighted in sight
Breathing the night
Movement in flight
Come on with it
This isn't that
Not quite right, what is it?
That that's diabolical

The Police and Johns Memory

The police made John jog his memory
“Was the car actually a Camry?”
John delayed, then got free cigarette
Of a brand prized above his Lovette.
And he didn’t hear his voice drop “Yes...”
Before a second thought’s “More or less.”

“Heh! You’ve got my Benson ’n’ Hedges;
Quit building round your answers hedges?”

“Actually, Cop, an off-white Nissan
With blood stains that still give me concern”
“So, then it’d made you touch its Fender
For which, now, you need Good Defender”
“You’ve guessed I’m not A Real Offender”
“Also guessed, for now, The Offender”
“Means I should hate Law of Evidence”
“...Also, your Forgetful Imprudence”

“Hope this won’t be reaching the BBC?”
“Sorry, She minds what blokes hear and see!”.

Premium MemberOur First Snowfall

The first snowfall of the winter
Was predicted to be a real winner
Well in spite of all the dire predictions
We missed the worst of it
Perhaps six inches at the most
Driving conditions were not too good
With quite a few fender benders
With upset drivers
No violence but for a couple of hotheads

Premium MemberThe Hell

Margaritas in a blender,
Sans the lime juice, soon will render
recipes for all-night benders.

It's party time, with fun galore!
Supplies are low; it's time for more.
Against advice, drive to the store,
hit the wall and crunch the fender.

Your girlfriend's car, and she's aghast;
the evening going downhill fast.
Your hookup chances likely passed;
spend the late hours swiping Tinder.

Bombs detonating in your head...
What might that be that's in your bed?
You feel the rising sense of dread,
not so sure about the gender…

Dreaming With Eyes Open

(KELOGBs)

Stop now, the challenge tag.
Your works are mere living snag
Bearing the giant cover flag.

Tracking down chances' wills
Exporting thy Awesome quills
Into many languages mills...

Someone using your head;
Imagine you lay your bed,
Another sleep tight dead.

In style comfortably-
To dreaming appreciably
Thy weird nights veritably.

As a smart team leader
Engaging virtual fender
Collate all engender.

Truly, it should be fine.
Hearts cheer gladly to assign
Bards' twine for tag's guideline.

Where all are for the same,
No one only dares to aim
Achieves without a team.

May thy labors be vain!
Who toys others' toils for gain.
Subscribing not their pains...

Let their lights become fright!
That with joy, sadness alight
To dwell faulty delight...

Design their vision's grave;
Timing piracy they crave...
Rare languages engrave!

Amen!!!
