Mothering instincts perked up...
... heart to succor invites now
offers haven of God's love*
while blest soul welcomes midst hope
those seeking refuge from woes
and faith is propped to shelter
orphans yon prayer delight
*Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

A woman’s voice said
Look out the window
and I saw a ravine
with a fresh cover
of snow.
I thought it was the neighbor
but I was alone.
A thicket of trees
reached for the sun
yet I noticed
one was fallen
its age born
in its rings.
Two cats lay on my bed
as I took in my visions
of a pastoral scene.
a day in February
in the middle of town.
In this moment
I bore my seasons
and winter called for spring
yet a patch of a lawn
had turned brown.
A woman’s voice said
Live, live again
as I faced another day.
It is what you see,
exposure to the light,
they can rush by you,
causing the feeling of flight,
petals that can't be painted,
palets of truth that are unattained,
captured only by the eyes,
secrets exposed if you trained,
they can warm you at night,
even cool you in the day,
the feelings they can give,
from trembling to wanting to play,
as wide as the spectrum known,
some colors hid from sight,
it is what you see,
Exposure to the light.
OVER-EXPOSURE
An immodest young fellow called Dan
Sunbathed nude for an all-over tan
The neighbours complained
So he was arraigned
And he spent the next year in the can
She
relish
The coming
Of November,
Her embellishments
Scattered around her feet
In rotting putrid decay.
Yet the old tree shivers naked
Meanwhile the common crow’s nest exposed.

A sweet young thing from Arkansas
Went out one night without her bra
Her blouse slipped down
Which caused a frown
Since she was dancing with her pa.

this world’s full of haters ~ peel back a few layers to expose their craters
but you search for lovers ~ peel deeper we’re exposed under the covers
I was about to write an expose
the muse turned its head – looked away
I replied: “they need to know what I think”
The answer - a condescending wink
A vicious and scalding silent retort
A head shake that read – you’ve naught to report
Yet inside my head a still battle roared
Sleeping beside it the muse loudly snored
Then in a canyon, a chasm of thought
I turned off the TV and all it had wrought
And wrote of a leaf and a cat long gone feral
Threw a few nuts to a chattering squirrel
Then left the room with the loud ticking clock
Put on my mask and went out for a walk

the world was waiting
at the wide open window
in came the fragrance
sunshine called to me
from the depths of afternoon
in the stylish blooms
red robin sang sweet
frogs croaked midst water lilies
the glad summer crowd
you've exposurephobia
you need it to be over
seeking out the closure
you're fake and you're a poser
it shows to those that know you
but you're convinced not true
living your life a delude
in armour we see through
exposed to all but you
In a race to get to class first, tripped and fell looking up teacher’s skirt!

I've got a reading!
And the venue's all sold out.
It's an old phone booth
that some company threw out.
Standing room only
you can get in by arrangement
I'll just hop out
for the term of your engagement.
If you show up
you won't even need a mask
'cause you'll be standing
on the far side of the glass.
My voice sounds muffled
in the sound-proof enclosure
so my poetry won't really
be getting much exposure.
For my fan base
it's the ideal place to show.
See, I can do the reading
and no one else will know.
topple the statue of David -for crime of indecent exposure
Do I write by pen and paper......
Do I write by computer and keys......
Do I write by both for all to see......
Then I have Double Exposure from me......

I found an old kept memory
Overlapping one I made today
A double sided fixed reverie
Simple times to me now in decay
Once the life of my cherished youth
Now only a picturesque causeway
Similar now my days, in truth
As I see a bit of double exposure
Still a hippy with a dash of vermouth
Only now I’m better at keeping my composure
Without revealing a full-on grainy disclosure
