Smiling Faces

Mery Christmas: oh thanks honey (they Kiss) and a Merry christmas to you!
Two turkeey's and what a big peice of beef!
We doing it up this year aint we: yeah I wanted our last
Christmas before the baby to be specail.
Something to compare to throughout the years. Valintines Day is
the due date.
Ya'll some romantic people aint you. Huh: we aint had thyme to reherst anything
but we still singing! That's right not even orgazition
or should I say the lack their of stop this show!
We sangin Christmas songs tonight!
Just then that mean ole Mizzer came to the door
ya'll aint singing nothing up in here.
Gone out in the barn sing out their.
Not even a compasion for Jesus could
melt your chilly heart. We singing here tonight mister!
IIf ya'll is ah singing then
I is ah leaving said the man, who
appeared to be husband to the pregant woman. I aint putting no stress on my baby
and the way ya'll sing is quite stressful, all that
blue humming and grunting and all those yeah:yeah's.
Un amplified classical singing. we singing here tonight: the other woman clapping that's right! Singing tonoight!' Of his coming, his devined nature and his earthly role!" Yeah Jesus oh Jesus!"

Hope hangs on hiding bait

Ah hope, what an enduring bait!
It hides the hook to hibernate
Till chances come to knock
And ship anchors at dock,
Serene like storks hope opts to wait--
As clued as a clock clicks,
Tick-tock, tick-tock as ticks
Till luck bites on a distant date.

Note: Indeed, luck is for him who hangs on in hope, hiding the bait. Luck only bites on the due date. But those that lose hope give up.

Romans 13:8 “…Pay your debts as they come due. However, one debt you can never finish paying is the debt of love that you owe each other.

the mailbox, stuffed~
mortgage payments, car loans
with balances and deadlines
marked in red.

water, gas, and electric bills~
the hungry phantoms of
creature comforts
coldly due.

we chase the spectral zero balance,
dream of that stamped envelope
with the sweet release of
paid in full.

but the other statement
never arrives~
no perforated tear line,
no due date circled in red.

it’s a debt, unlisted, un-itemized,
it haunts no credit score,
demands no late fees~
a debt we’ll always carry.

this bill arrives not monthly
but daily~in every heartbeat,
every hunch that kindness calls
beyond oneself.

this debt, this sweet, persistent owing
is paid in tears dried on a loving sleeve,
with burdens carried, with forgiveness offered,
and in whispered reassurances.

this debt’s non-ending, compounds with kindness~
the interest paid daily—not in coin
but in soulful connection
and ego transcendence.

Birth

I came into this world
before my due date
4:02am was the time
Thursday chose me
I was tiny and fragile
They threw me into the
Metal sink and allowed
My slippery body to caress it
My Mother was too weak to hold me
My cry echoed in the room
Other babies had arrived earlier than me
They finally cleaned me up and wrapped me
With a shawl
My mother couldn't contain her smile, when
She finally held me in her arms

Final Due Date

A moment of truth
a century of lies
The left hand deflects
what the right hand decries

A little bit pregnant
the ending begins
A monster gestating
—and living within

(The New Room: December, 2023)

Finish Line

A due date is the finish line,
a detail not to be ignored!
What do you call a starting line?

A place to leap from made of pine,
the impetus of a spring board,
far from the waters finish line.

The cover of a book design,
begins a quest to be explored,
as text flies from that starting line.

The crack of the starters carbine,
as athletes begin their sprint toward,
fame at the distant finish line.

That first note felt from the baseline,
while groovin' on the fretboard,
as beats move from the starting line.

Maybe it's the morning sunshine,
while the Earth spins ever westward.
To yet another finish line,
to realize it's the starting line.

Back To Times of Stonehenge

To say hello to spring
Winter relents in time,
Grey goes green, smiles gream grime,
Nature knows— not to cling.

Seasons change on their own
And wait not till too late
To kiss change on due date,
All things change, even stone.

But man seems stuck sans clue,
Feels frozen facing change,
Red nor green, but orange!
He who once walked on two

From all four, far to see
As ape— his greatest feat,
Yet, somewhere lost his wit,
Opting purblind to be.

In saying no to change,
An existential threat
That might wipe out his fate,
Back to times of Stonehenge!

Poet’s note: In evolutionary race when man was not yet a *****Sapiens, he showed an exemplary foresight to steer himself ahead of all life forms, on top of pyramid to be, and never to look back ever since— the time he, as an ape, decided to walk on his rear two legs. But today it seems he chooses to be purblind, refusing to see the threat to his existence. This piece wonders if man is on his way back to Stonehenge.

Will Power

Will power will power
In defining moments may build or demolish towers
Monuments and pyramids it really only takes a step
Yes not only that
Sweat drying into crystals
Droplets of effort driven by purpose

Choosing wisely what comes first and foremost
Suddenly shallow is cool
Discarding everything you once used as a tool
Don't you see?
This is deeper than a pool

Blowing racks chasing trends just to call on the parents
Pay as you live and the Rents due date is not up for extending
Living beyond your means
It seems you've been splurging
That's why you lacking
And for your plans you never implement
On the periphery you stay lurking

Its only actions and consistent actions
With due calibration that will change a vision to a reality
Yes you will probably find Prodigy on some
Selfish before you get kind type of flow
The resultant wave drilling through wells
Keeping God's people hydrated
Seek synchrony with your Will power
Forever keep your eyes open till you turn blind oh lord
God forbid

Will power
Will power, in defining moments may build or demolish towers

ProdigySpits I pray whatever I say
finds a place in your head and sits

FICTIONAL POEM FOR CONTEST

I sailed through my pregnancy without a problem
We’d painted the nursery in pale blue
                          I was having
                            A little boy

I'd stroke my swollen belly every time he kicked
we joked he'd be a great football player
tragically he’d never kick a ball
no one knows why he stopped moving on my due date

The doctors could not save my child
Why was my baby born sleeping?

                          My precious son
                            You never cried

Christian, it is good to know
I expected a forever Valentine
fifty years ago for your father’s
due date was fourteenth of February.

Obviously he did not want to be delivered
to see the world that day and waited
six more days to come out and be part
of us, our family tree or lineage.

Twenty two years later, there were you,
the Valentine boy, ready to see the world
and be part of us during the micro-generation.
Born in the Rooster year and a Zennial.

The Valentine boy named Christian, a name
of English origin that means Follower of Christ.
The Valentine boy born twenty eight years ago,
on a Sunday, Valentine’s Day, an Aquarian.

The Valentine boy, who is all grown up,
is a loving, caring son, brother and grandson.
Good mannered, responsible, committed,
compassionate, hard-working nurse.

Keep up the good work, Valentine boy.
I am proud of you, my grandson.
Embrace today, Valentine's day as a special gift
and celebrate you and your birthday.

Natalia’s expecting her very first child
Early morning sickness thankfully it is mild
When feeling first kick, husband and wife smiled

Baby names chosen for girls and boys
Eager friends buy clothing and soft toys
Great excitement at Natalia’s due date
Isaac and Natalia simply cannot wait
No sign of contractions, the time drags by
Next day labor and baby gives a hearty cry
Incredible joy when they take baby home
Now life’s complete with their son Jerome
Getting into routine, they’re finding it strange
Sleep deprivation – both hope that will change!

April 24th of 2020

04/24/2020 Today is your due date my little BABY
Today was the day the dr's said youd arrive
A lot of emotions surface , because we
Already said hello and had to say goodbye
When they told me the date It was fine by me
One thing that I now see
Is that its GODS plans that we must abide
I do wish that today you were here with me
With more days ahead of you , to thrive
Somedays are sad , some days I'm angry
I'm just hurt because your not alive
Im blessed tho, because an angel is what GOD gave me
When he sent you into my life
I just cant help but to think how we
Could be meeting today for the very first time
It hurts my heart when I sit here and think
You couldve been alive inside me
this entire time
Just 4 months ago you were here with me
Since you've been gone ,
I feel a way no words can describe
I believe one day you'll be back with me
Until that day I'll patiently wait and see
Today we could've said hello but we've already had to say goodbye
