IN THE SOUP

My late aunt was always getting herself in the soup,
Wanted to share this with my poetry group,
Good clients of ours we invited home for a Greek meal
But my aunt made a mistake she couldn’t conceal,
Angelina’s boyfriend was nineteen years younger,
Handsome son said my aunt, what a lucky mother.
And before I had time to give her a kick under the table
She continued to speak nonsense, when are you due,
I whispered to my mom, your sister sounds unstable,
Yes Angelina said, I’ve put on a lot of weight of late,
I can see said my aunt , but when is your due date!
My mom walked out, she was fuming, so did my dad,
I was left holding the baby, excuse the pun,
This dinner party was getting out of control, not fun
So I said to my aunt your temperature from your flu
Has made you delirious, come lie down, but we
We were not yet out of the soup, came back in an hour,
Sat down and carried on, Jenny has told me 
You have our invitations for the wedding in your
Bag and the last straw was this “my commiserations”
To the boyfriend instead of my congratulations!
Fortunately my dad was filling up Angelinas glass
And the boyfriend’s with wine,
They were quite pickled when they left, 
Did no recall a thing that was said,so all was fine.
Needless to say my aunt was never again invited
When guests were around, otherwise
The next time, with pleasure would have crowned
Her myself and she would also be grounded!
After my aunt and uncle had left, we laughed hysterically
Because all was in fact said naively, not hypocritically!
English was not her mother tongue, recently
Came from Greece, 
And wanted to make conversation and please,
Nothing was said intentionally.

People continuing to show hate
As if they themselves are so great
While the planet continues to rotate

Boy you need a lot more than Colgate
You thought it did, but it carried no weight
Don't make me, or I'll put you in yo place
The evidence will be difficult to locate

Only got 24 so I poured up some twenty fours
Ready for many more
It's been a deadly war
Pulled through with tremendous force
While I weathered any storms
The answers to such questions, is like seeking an endless source

People continuing to act fake
In good or bad shape 
Dealing with another backache
Life will give and it shall take

Let's get the facts straight
Life moves at a fast pace
Don't end up in last place
In this giant rat race

Why have they 
Continued to act that way
Been another bad day
Empty bottles and an ashtray
The same old pathway
Could just never keep it all at bay

It's been revolting
As life continues unfolding
After the whole thing
Not just a gold ring

Yet it always ends up being an ice cold drink
Empty or a full drink
Be bold or sink
Who am I kidding, I always got one, like it's a cool thing
What the f*** am I really doing?
Who am I truly fooling?
Why am I always smoking and boozing?
Winning and losing
At times it is or isn't amusing
As death is always looming
Underneath objects in the sky zooming
In space matter devoured by black holes that keep consuming

Regardless of if we once were schoolmates
It's all been a wild goose chase
People still being two faced
Calling others a fruitcake
Let me give ya'll a news break
I'm going to get much more than a few scrapes
While above and below sluice gates
Having a wallet and safe full of bills with a blue face
Still traveling through space
Got rid of the evidence, no need for a suitcase

Those that give and others who take
Coming in rough, obscure or smooth shapes
Close to estates that grew grapes
In order to make
Wine all the time, before it's all too late
Before it's all too late
What's getting accomplished if always you wait?
I'm going to continue to mutate
Getting it done before the due date
Otherwise it all would  be a huge waste

Come on Jiggles, let’s go for our walk, and remember, walk with pride
That’s my girl, my beautiful standard poodle, with your sexy stride

Jiggles short tail pounded from side to side,
Her excitement she could never pretend to hide

And her longing to get out was surely not feigned
Jiggles was a flirt, her desire for a handsome dog had never waned!

I put the leash on Jiggles,  within 5 minutes, she had spotted Plato
A bold young handsome powerful dog, a Labrador, I let her go

She lowered her eyes demurely, as Plato sidled her way, so slow
They sniffed each other and walked towards a bush, both had to know

They disappeared from sight, their love consummated, Jiggles wore a flush,
And Plato, this aristocratic dog, I could see a definite exited blush!

I looked at Plato’s owner and he at me, what were we to do,
These two would not be separated, this was truer than true,

So owners and dogs visited regularly, and the due date
Now close, mummy Jiggles came into labor, Hugh and I tended to Plato’s mate

Three beautiful Labradoodles, fluffy and cute, to meet Jiggles was Plato’s fate, Hugh and I fell i love, because of two dogs and an affair on their first date!

Premium Member DEBT WITHOUT END--Before We Die Poetry Contest

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Romans 13:8 “…Pay your debts as they come due.  However, one debt you can never finish paying is the debt of love that you owe each other.

the mailbox, stuffed~ 
mortgage payments, car loans
with balances and deadlines
marked in red.

water, gas, and electric bills~
the hungry phantoms of 
creature comforts
coldly due.

we chase the spectral zero balance,
dream of that stamped envelope
with the sweet release of
paid in full. 

but the other statement
never arrives~
no perforated tear line,
no due date circled in red.

it’s a debt, unlisted, un-itemized,
it haunts no credit score,
demands no late fees~
a debt we’ll always carry.

this bill arrives not monthly
but daily~in every heartbeat, 
every hunch that kindness calls
beyond oneself. 

this debt, this sweet, persistent owing
is paid in tears dried on a loving sleeve,  
with burdens carried, with forgiveness offered, 
and in whispered reassurances.

this debt’s non-ending, compounds with kindness~
the interest paid daily—not in coin
but in soulful connection
and ego transcendence.

EVERY BODY'S NEW YEAR.

There is something, something going on
No one knows it, but something is wrong

Everybody  around to end the year
Celebrating this year last cheer
Counting from 10-1, forgetting 2012 is near

The ignorance of this world has hit again.
Spreading happiness through every window pane
Sending hugs and kisses to every friend
Forgetting the feelings of the times we felt insane

Relaxing to the joy we create.
Acting like we enjoyed every day.
Passing smiles on this one day 
This day, the whole world celebrates
For this one day we all await
Asking to shake the hands of the ones we hate
Forgetting about the worlds ~2012~ due' date
Cheer from me before it gets too late

Kiss, Kiss, Hug, Hug
Happy new years, everyone!

By-gones~ be bygones
Cheers, cheers, toast your beer.
My new resolutions list is here.
In one blink of the eye its over 
And a new year begins..
Look at it this way,  we have 365 days.
To say life stinks all over again.

High School - It Sucks :P

Walking through the crowded halls
Posters stuck up on the walls
Talking to friends till we're almost late
Trying to remember that project due date
Cheering loudly at every football game
Trying to not get caught breaking rules we think are lame
Worrying about how to dress
Trying to deal with all the stress
Juggling jobs on the side
Squeezing through halls that aren't that wide
Studying last minute for a test
Being told to do our best
Participating in a club
Taking advantage of the sub
Not to mention all the fights
And feeling like we have less rights
Being ruled by every bell
Sometimes to us school seems like hell
Wishing we could text in class
Being told we need a hall pass
Playing in the marching band
Eating lunches we think are bland
Dressing crazy on spirit week
Being told in class not to speak
And after all the graduation fuss
Our High School memories will always haunt us..


Premium Member Seemed Like a Routine Day

Being a nurse I had a good understanding of medications for pain,
Explained to my Obstetrician I wanted everything, I was not insane,
This was my first baby and being in healthcare had very few perks,
I’d be given an epidural when the time came, but not by any jerks.

Worked full-time then started maternity leave 2 weeks before my due date,
Of course I sat at home for another 5 weeks, oh my first baby was really late.
I read every book in the library and cleaned my house more than one time,
Everyday the neighbours would drop by, I was tired of the door bell chime.

Walked into the hospital to have a non-stress test, done every other day,
My doctor laid his hand on me and asked “how long have you been this way”
I replied “ for about 11 months, you should know you’ve seen me every week”
He firmly instructed the nurse to call my home, for my husband they must seek.

My husband knowing my test was routine, had driven to town to go to the Gym,
What is that you say dear doctor, “I’m fully dilated, I’m soon going to be slim”
Well first I’ll I just zip home to grab my luggage and I promise I just zoooom,
What’s that- “I’m bypassing the labour and going straight to the delivery room”

So I hopped onto the table, took deep breaths and put my feet in the snare
When finally my dear husband arrived ~ with more than five minutes to spare
“It’s a beautiful girl with dark hair, 8 lbs 7 oz ” I heard the delivery room nurse say,
My love has never been stronger, my greatest moment, our most memorable day.

Thank You Mother-I Love You

Nine months of suffering and pain
In your womb you carried me without any complain
I was nurtured inside of you until due date
Giving birth to me brought your life happiness and gay

Hush little baby every night
You are hurt when you hear my little cry
The way you cradle me as I suckle and lie
Is just so special as it calms me down and to dreamland I fly

As I reached toddler stage it was never easy for you
Everything I scattered and on my clothes I pooped
I didn't know you could act so cool
In cleaning my messes because I was such a little fool
OH !mother dearest "I LOVE YOU"

Watching me grow up is what you are so fond of
By and by as years roll
I am a young woman now struggling for my tomorrow
Your humble footsteps mom, I will follow

I am so sorry for all the headaches and messes
I know you'll forgive me because your love never lessen
I'll work so hard to achieve my goals and pay my debts
May you live longer and be blessed abundantly by our father in heaven !

Due Date

The search for a due date never stops 
I seem to have lived in the shadow of my existence 
Tell me when the apocalypse will be, and I will set my watch
Seeking and stumbling in vein 
I want answers! 
I may know when my first breath was drawn
But when will be my last!? 
When the winds of opportunity blow in my favor
I pray for an extension of the deadline 
And sometimes
When adversity stalks me and troubles beset me
I feel incarcerated here
Sometimes I've wanted to up and leave this place
Some people actually have
Uncertainty befalls me
The faith I have is shaken 
And the 6 o'clock news takes what's left 
Who will stand unchanged by the tide of rumor?
Can't my heart just beat inside the moments that I have?!
What life is it at all, to be afraid to die?

The Great Commission

Like a special commission
With no obvious due date.
So is one's salvation.
An assignment up to self.

An commission easy at sight,
But over powering in actuality.
A commission  soon due,
Yet the date is unknown.

The due date,
Probation, is soon. 
Let the righteous be righteous still,
Let the wicked be wicked still.

Then the Eastern clouds will split,
The trumpet of the King shall sound!
He will shout,
"It is finished! It is finished!"

In quiet anticipation, Daphne carefully sewed
tiny outfits of love for her soon to be child
with her soft braided hair and loose, faded clothes
Daphne sung lullabies, then stared off for awhile.

When her due date came, we wished Daphne well
for our small sewing circle was caring and kind
Daphne looked embarrassed, but was happy to tell
that she'd show us her baby at just the right time.

A few months later, sweet Daphne appeared
gently cradling her sleeping, angelic little girl
with a hushed adoration, we all drew near her
and beheld the most beautiful baby in the world.

When the ladies dispersed, I asked Daphne if I
could hold her new baby, I'd hold her with care
with a brief hesitation, she said, "Just a short while.”
her perfect, silicone baby was lighter than air.

Premium Member Rush Hour

I rush through each day as if I have endless days ahead of me
When in reality each day is counting down to my demise
I awake each morning running my day through my mind
Planning on how to get there in the shortest amount of time

I rush through traffic, angry that it is moving so slowly
I run through the halls, arriving at my office out of breath
Logging in as I throw my purse in a drawer, the clerk reminds me of a meeting
There's fifty emails to answer and the blasted light on my phone is blinking

Burning my tongue on a cup of coffee, I rush down the stairs clutching my PDA
Deleting messages on my way to another conference I'm not ready for
To be told to move their projects to the top of my priorities
I return to my desk and scratch another due date to my to do list

Lunch comes and goes as I swallow yet another yogart and banana
I should have stock in these companies; it's my daily substance
Budget is due and the contracts are behind; by the way where is my handouts?
I still haven't answered that stupid light on my phone

The day is finished and I finally get around to the messages
One is canceling tomorrows meeting but there are two to replace it.
The last call is my doctors office telling me the biopsy is back
Could I make an appointment to see the doctor right away; it's abnormal.

Cars honk as they pass me in their hurry to no where
I don't see them through the veil of tears streaming off my cheek
Did I just pass my exit?  I don't care
I'm no longer in a hurry; the sun has just set on my day.

Natalia’s expecting her very first child
Early morning sickness thankfully it is mild
When feeling first kick, husband and wife smiled
 
Baby names chosen for girls and boys
Eager friends buy clothing and soft toys
Great excitement at Natalia’s due date
Isaac and Natalia simply cannot wait
No sign of contractions, the time drags by
Next day labor and baby gives a hearty cry
Incredible joy when they take baby home
Now life’s complete with their son Jerome
Getting into routine, they’re finding it strange 
Sleep deprivation – both hope that will change!

The Grim Reaper

I stage your days like a theater
One day at a time, I set them asunder
From your first through your last is my price
You sweat trying give meaning to that space

I own Monday to Sunday and any holiday
So do I your leave days and your payday
I’m Gregorian so I thrive in the castle walls
Mock me and cross me out to your own fall

Time is limited, yours by the way
Waste me, to your own dismay
I never send a notice on the due date
You and I meet at a tangent

You say hello, I say goodbye
I move along and you die
There’s been 107 billion souls thus far
And my appetite is only growing bigger

Every year enjoy your Happy birthday?!
Seize the day, that’s what they say
I’ll be there soon fresh as a new day
To take what is owed to me today

Life Is Too Short

Life is too short to be worrying about he said she said
It only starts problems and drama and the fire soon starts to spread
Yet the truth never unrolls its self like a spool of thread
And the results are friendships and relationships start to crumble and mold like a loaf of bread

People are so caught up in making and believing all the lies
It’s like they get a high for telling all the lies
What do people think they get the Noble Prize?
You have people looking at you asking why
Why do people like making people cry
Who are you trying to be in disguise?
In reality here is some advice
Liars, fakes, cheaters, abusers, and wanna bes are nobodies in real peoples eyes 

So lets break away from all the hate
There is no reason to discriminate
To walk the beat of your own drum is a skillful trait
Everyone is different like a car license plate
Its okay to be always changing like a discount rate

People need to realize in there is a due date
You never know when it is, so don’t wait
Live your life to the greatest rather it be with or without fate
This may lead to a debate
Yet if everyone could come together, we could all cross home plate
Moral to life, is that it is too short
Practice and play hard like it is a sport
Pretend that you are living on a resort
And everyone you come across is like a friend of some sort
We all need to be escorts
And treat everyone with love, respect, and kindness like it’s our last resort
Now let’s end this on a good report 
And stop all the hate and negativity and start giving some support
