Notes About The Poem

New Beginnings

Natalia’s expecting her very first child
Early morning sickness thankfully it is mild
When feeling first kick, husband and wife smiled

Baby names chosen for girls and boys
Eager friends buy clothing and soft toys
Great excitement at Natalia’s due date
Isaac and Natalia simply cannot wait
No sign of contractions, the time drags by
Next day labor and baby gives a hearty cry
Incredible joy when they take baby home
Now life’s complete with their son Jerome
Getting into routine, they’re finding it strange
Sleep deprivation – both hope that will change!

What a wonderful idea for a poem about new beginnings, Jan. Especially love the way you took us through nine months, birth and settling in with a new baby. I remember sleep was as valuable as a treasure! Congratulations! hugs! Here's to a little nap every once in a while. :)

Thanks Carolyn to be honest we got our son into a routine to suit us and i would wake him up for a feed so we got pretty long stretches throughout the night, he was in his own room next to ours and we could hear him through the baby monitor but he was such a contented baby i was so lucky:-) hugs jan xx

Nice flow and rhyme, as usual a positive pleasant poem, a pleasure to read. Incredible joy indeed it is. It reminded me of my child birth. When I first saw my son I was amazed, couldn't believe he could be inside me. It is an wonderful experience and sleep that's better forgotten. All the best for contest. Take care. Love and hugs Rama

Such a beautiful acrostic poem on parenthood.Having a baby is very fulfilling even when parents are deprived of sleep in taking care of the little one..Nothing can compare the joy of parenthood.

Even more in awe with it being fictional. It certainly touches on the experiences many of us hold dear in our hearts! The miracle of the birth of a brand new life is so over the top amazing. The sleepless nights that ensue and devotion in the care of the new little bundle of sweetness is the definition of love in real life. Choosing others above ourselves! My first would wake me up @ night and just want to take it all in, just contentedly looking around, I was so tired!
