yellow duckies slosh
a fishing line rewinding
blue sky’s skipping in the pond
whistles the green frog
a tan boy puppy puddles
small gray cloud joins with splish-splash

I already understand that children
grow inside two blinks,
as quickly as the novel Mayfly
comes to the surface to die.
I'm pining for those first days again,
of edentate smiles, milestones
to fund future independence.
Pineapple-sized hearts I cradled;
lulled, exchanged dank nappies for dry;
ferried on uncrossed seas,
your armada.
Smoothed rough waters as if by divine speech
because mothers can. I was thinking that I could always be your oxygen.
I let you walk through me, under, right over.
The rocking horse
brought for my bromelain angels
winged you away -
this blasted Pegasus ...
I miss you now.
How you rode away,
ephemera of innocence!
So, what then?
Me, fumbling wild in the backspace you left.
Your flabbergasting key smash to freedom
broke our finespun home, you left
me to talk to your father, Child,
to renegotiate
the bonds;
reconstruct ancient code,
deleted excess text -
obfuscating precision and knowing -
the tribal tongue of lovers
unlearned, forgotten;
escaped alongside discarded baby bath suds,
strewn puddles of rubber duckies,
tired breasts suckled
by fresh management.

Playdays Nursery Rhyme
Your rainy play day comes to an end
Running and jumping in puddles with friends
Creating rain paintings – making mud pies
Wearing warm rain coats – boots with googly eyes.
Time for a “tubbie” to wash off the mud
Duckies and bubbles – rub-a-dub-dub
Wrap up in a towel so fluffy and warm
Now jump into bed - cozy, safe from the storm.
Stories then prayers as you close your eyes
Dream of the days when snow fills up the skies – Night! Night!

SUMMER’S END
staying cool, in the pool,
where children are cruel,
on a very hot day—
Summer’s officially over.
from submarine fool,
fishy bubbling school,
plenipotentiary fuel—
a payload parade.
when the ping-pong jewels
surface - whirlpool
of fleeing ridicule.
afraid of riveting stool—
a flotsam snicker’s bar.
The worst part is the noise—
that awful fartastic that destroys
the floats, duckies, other toys.
it lasts and lasts…
it’s a spastic stinker,
a ferocious clinker —
it channels the sulfur pits of
Turkmenistan’s door to hell.
officially over,
the pool in deep cover—
no one hovers
near
the episodic rear of Summer.

Nothing but puppies;
Swam with the guppies;
Hang out cause their buddies,
When they get out of the pool yukky
Smelly are the fur biddies,
And those floppies, kitties, putties, putty, puffy, bunnies,
Eaten all the yuppy gummies,
While those piggies huskies tummy’s are muddy
Biddies, buddy, buggies, bunny, butties, copies, cubbies, cuppy, druggies, Duckies, fluffy, funny, fuzzy,
Guppies, hungry for honey,
hubbies, huggies, huskies, lovelies, lucky, lumpy, money, monies, muddy, mummies, nappies, piggies, pities, puppy
Swam with the guppies;
Hang out cause their buddies,
Nothing but puppies;

The color of the river is navy blue
The rivers current motion is so wavy
The wavy river sinks my feet in deeply
My feet which touch the sand gently
Swimming outwards towards the river is risky
Swimming outwards towards the river I see a fishy
The fishies are swimming around me somewhat crazy
This crazy feeling makes me feel dorky
The sand which rubs against my feet feels quite bubbly
The wetness of the sand is so muddy
The mud which sticks on my feet feels yucky
The yuckiness within my feet feels so mucky
The stickiness within my feet makes me feel icky
I need a lot of water to take the sand off me
When I stare at the river, I see a duck lonely
I think the other duckies see it as an ugly ducky
This ugly ducky is not a rubber ducky
I see the ugly ducky as a cutie
That cutie ducky is so lucky
Thank goodness that lucky ducky has me
All those other duckies are so unlucky
When my mommy saw me holding the ducky
The ducky took off in a hurry
The poor ducky took off feeling kinda panicky
That's the panicky feeling I get when she calls me
My mommy lovely wants me in a jiffy
That's the lovely moment I feel kinda frisky
That frisky moment makes me acutely

You live on an island not at all on an island
But smack, in the middle of life,
The center of our small word loving society
If it weren't for you, I had drowned
In that Soup-sea of incomprehensible
rules for autists.
It isn't strange for hubbies to say: "I love you".
So there you go ;)
Ask your first hubby if we can share
to eternity and back, because that
would be so lovely.
Jan, life kicks us so hard sometimes
but we kick back with a vengeance!
One day we'll swim that canal
and meet halfway on our rubber duckies
Smiling broadly and drinking
ginger tea.

As I sat on the wayside fence
Enjoying a bask in the sun
Came by a Mom Duck
With her soft-downed yellow brood.
She "Ten-hutted" right in front of me
Ducklings screech-halted there.
I scrabbled in my pockets,
My chips turned duck-feed-fare.
Mom Duck stepped to one side
And let her kids break rank.
Right busy did the cuties get,
Clacking beaks to a man.
Quack, Quack, said Mom Duck.
You're Welcome, Ma'am, I said.

drops of moon beams into the night
harvest of fields turning ripe
sunshine smiling in warm delight
makes my world yellow
banana pudding and lemon pie
piles of leaves reaching the sky
fears we keep hidden inside
makes my world yellow
baby chicks and rubber duckies
school bus home feeling lucky
eating squash that taste yucky
makes my world yellow
mustard butter and lots of cheese
yellow light slow down please
rain coats so you won't sneeze
makes my world yellow
number two pencils and doing number one
eating corn on the cob is so much fun
golden honey on my yeast bun
makes my world yellow

When I think of you, my Mother
One thing comes to mind:yellow
Goldenrods and sunshine
Peace and all that's mellow
Halos, rings and lemonade
And honeysuckle too
Bumblebees and stary nights
And all the good that may shine through
Dolls with long blond locks
Babies yellow bonnets
Bath time duckies, lollipops
And also summer sonnets
There's many colors love can be
Red or even blue
But a Mothers love is somewhat different
With a golden kind of hue
Some day I hope my children see
That I am yellow too
For more than anything I say
I hope to be like you

The heat is sweltering,
causing beads of sweat,
Somehow, the little children
don't fret,
Their rubber duckies go everywhere
with them, swimming in their perspiration
like a long lost friend,
There is no need to wait for bathtime for
duckies to make their debut,
They've become eco-friendly,
recycling human dew.

My love, you can dress me as a clown,
I can be your jester,
I'll certainly play your fool.
You can paint my nose red
And dress me in a polka dotted suit.
I'll hop on a pogo stick,
Juggle several fireballs,
Throw in a rubber chicken
And I'll make funny faces while I'm at it.
I can drive a tiny car,
Mime to pedestrians
And stop traffic.
I'll do silly things all day long,
Like hang upside-down,
And walk on my palms.
I'll blow bubbles out of my ears,
Then make duckies and bunnies appear!
I can even sing you a love song.
If it'll make you giggle,
I can dance and sing
And wiggle my hips some more.
Others might say that I'm being absurd and ridiculous.
I'll tell them they don't know a thing about happiness!
It'll make you delirious and do plenty of bizarre things.
I can find more jokes to crack
And do insane magic knacks
I'll even try a daredevil's act!
For you, who'll know what I'd do!
Your laughter makes insects crawl in my belly,
Your smile makes my world change hues
And my mind mush as goo-
Like jelly.
As long you're with me, you'll never frown
'Cause I'll always be your silly
Outrageous happy clown.

Little duckie swimming across the lake,
making a little duckie wake,
trying to get to the other side,
head and beak up, full of pride,
looking for his mother duckling,
and his other sibling sucklings,
now he has them in his sight,
swimming hard, with all his might,
now little duckies are all together,
you might say,
birds of a feather,
in the lake they go now one by one,
I guess you'de call this,
some great duckie fun.

early Saturday morning
I wake up to
coffee brewing and
cartoons blaring
making my way into the kitchen
I hear Looney Toons
from the living room
and the shower running
I quietly enter the bathroom
smiling and undressing
to surprise you
pulling back the shower curtain
with the Technicolor duckies
I find our son in
full snorkeling gear
desperately trying to sink
an entire box of Cheerios
embarrassed
I grab my robe and
head to the living room
to find you laughing
through your Cocoa Puffs at
the hilarity ensuing on TV
after a quick good morning kiss
I lick the dribbled milk
from your goatee
and head to the kitchen for
that much needed coffee
before my first sip
our son emerges from his adventure
covered in soggy
rings of victory
