Dinner Table

We sit and share blood the colour of wine
that ripples in glass on table which stretches
stretches stretches oceans between us. You’re
there but afar and I’m here but foreign. I wonder
what question you’ll ask me; what magnolia reply
I’d gouge out of the thinning air. Your hand flinches.

Premium MemberMy Far Away Siblings

Though miles may stretch, and oceans lie,
Between us, vast and 'neath the sky,
A bond of blood, a kinship deep,
A love that time can never keep
From reaching out, from bridging space,
And painting smiles upon each face.

We are like strangers, met by chance,
Yet in our hearts, a knowing glance,
A recognition, clear and bright,
That binds us through the darkest night.
We are siblings, though apart we roam,
Forever etched within our home.

The years may pass, the seasons change,
But still our love will rearrange,
And find a way, a whispered word,
A memory held, a love unheard,
Yet felt so deeply, understood,
A family tie, of siblinghood,
that knows no end,
A love that time can't comprehend.

So, raise a glass, to distant kin,
Whose hearts beat close, where're they've been,
For in our souls, a truth remains,
Our love will conquer, break the chains
Of distance vast, and time's slow tide,
Our bond is unbreakable, side by side.
Forever siblings, though far away,
Our love will stand the test of time.

Sunflowers

From tiny seeds
you sprouted; Tender
green shoots, so new

and impressionable.
Shoots that I serenaded
and watered with love,

albeit only on occasion.
Then, you had bright petals
blooming from your cheeks.

With every smile and
dash of sunlight,
you stretched and you grew.

You’re not quite complete yet;
there’s much more growth
ahead of you.

Though I’m no longer
by your sides
to see you progress,

I know when every petal forms,
when another inch is
added to your height,

And when you reach
a new, important milestone
in your sunny lives.

From tiny seeds
you sprouted; now,
with every passing day

you bloom more, and
from the stable ground, I
look up and watch you grow.

Long Distance Marriage

long-distance marriage

I sat on the terrace, thinking of my children and their
mother who had lived in a pool behind the houses
She they became adults had begged me to set her free, I relented drove her to the coast, and saw her jump with joy
Our four children were obese full of blubber had tiny arms and feet, which they gradually lost as they became adult
I gave our children to their mother and saw my family
swim to the Azores, where the sea is mild and there is plenty of food.
I was on a ship when I passed the island they came alongside flippers waving.
Do you know them, the captain asked.
Yes, they are my children with their mother
“You are mad,” he said. Indeed, but that is the price one has to pay for loving a dolphin.

Premium MemberMorning, the Clouds In the Distance

Morning
(Clouds in the distance.)

The sun rises,
I watch from the wood porch.
I have been up for hours... waiting.
Unsure of the reason,
other than the fact that I am here.
What do I need?
I have already asked?
Again...
The same as before,
but different.
Healing for the weak,
faith for the unsteady...
Strength for the small,
and humility for the tall.
Repentance for the world,
every soul a different dime,
time to unwind...
"What the song should be."
It is also the time to be kind...
and know that some will...
never see.
They will be left, behind.
Gather your family, call to your friends...
make your amends, to known enemies.
This day and every day will be counted.
The history will be taken down,
changed by those that lie,
but the truth is in the pie.
Giants eating the bones of the past,
small minds confronted with their legacy,
it is a matter of grace in infancy.
Look to the heavens every moment of every day.
The King has unleashed the storm.
Fear not, only believe,
to be free of chains...
born again...
as he calls your name,
before the rain.

God bless your day...

Woodlice

When I walk in
you are sat
with arms crossed
loosely
watching
two woodlice,
one trailing behind
too slow to keep up.
The light bulb,
too white
for a cosy
living room,
is naked
without
its lamp shade
and it reflects
in your eyes,
a tiny white dot
like a lone star
in the night sky.
Is it ridiculous
to say that
eyes are like mouths
because yours
are open right now.

Kris, so miffed having heard Blitzen say,

"You must shelter in place, Christmas day!",

drew a sip from his flask
through a rip in his mask,

then threw every last gift off his sleigh!

Distance

You don’t see me
You don’t believe it exists
That thing that is killing my brain
Little by little
Everyday, a little more
Until it’s all gone
Until I’m gone
And then what
Regrets of wasted time and lonely nights
Of romantic moons and sunrises
We never saw, we never lived
Because we were too busy living out the monotony of life
As if we’d live forever
As if we’d never be touched
By death

You don’t see me
Because you don’t want to
Stop and ask how I’ve been
That would make it too real
You wouldn’t know what to say
So you’d walk away
You’re too uncomfortable
That it exists
So we’ll just pretend it doesn’t
At least for a little while

You don’t see me
You need to help me
Where will I go?
What will I do?
It started slipping away long ago
And now I have nothing
And you continue to let me have nothing
No questions, no talk, nothing
Only accusations of all the wrong I do
Because you don't want to see me
Why must I make you feel comfortable with my dying?

Family Or Foe

They are just four very lonely people
finding a few moments of joy with each other.
All alone, yet with each other.
Each exist in their own world
wishing they were somewhere else with someone else doing something more.
Some hearts broken,
Others too heavy to beat or perhaps
have grown too cold to feel anything.
Affection they don’t have,
emotions they can’t control,
their power is a story best untold…
They are the closest and furthest thing they all have
Guaranteed support neither will ever turn to.
Fire, fire that can burn the heart, fire than can burn the other
Blade to cut an enemy blade to cut their own
Who is it that you turn to when your fiercest ally is your most unforgiving enemy?

Distance

Distance between families
Distance between friends

The time apart hurts, not matter how much we pretend.

If you miss somebody
you should let them know

Hold and squeeze them tight, and never let them go

no argument or fight
is worth losing touch

they are our families and friends, and we love them so much

drifting apart, can make you feel really alone

so do yourself a favour, and pick up the phone!!

Distance

Distance whether small or great-
Shall stump no more the hands of fate-
Sweet soul delighted, unlock the gate-
Hast now came upon a heavenly date-
Son and daughter-
Wife, fair mother-
Holds tight unto one another-
For remembrance of their loving son, and father-

Far In the Distance

I never new I could cry of joy
Something too far in the distance
With only hatred by myside
I choose the closest one almost everytime
But there it is black and white
I hold back not letting my weak crevests show through
There it is
Past on two pieces of papers
Seen through your two eyes
I don't know wheather I should quince in the past
Or to smile it's over
Something that seems so immposible for you
I want you too have it so bad
I have no advice
There's nothing you can do
What would I do if we ever lost you
Your words bring tears to my eye
To be part of your spark of joy
Getting back when you still desvere so much more
There in black in white
Your words show a part of my tear

In Walking Distance

At home all day alone. Bored.
Me and him. Him just two.
We walked this town over.
Visiting friends and sisters too.
There was nowhere too far.
We had learned to like to walk, you see,
For we didn't own a car.
Sometimes a little change we'd have
for a soda we would share.
A sweet pay phone call to Mama
if there was a quarter spare.
We haunted the local librarian
reading all her books.
He'd hide behind the front hall stairs
when she gave us funny looks.
We prayed in all the Churches.
Waiting out the Rain.
The last drops still dropping
and off we'd go again.
To the Lake for a swim
he loved it best down there.
He'd shake in the sunshine
his golden curly hair.
Everywhere in walking distance
we had plenty of time.
Some days we walked by his plan
Some days we walked by Mine
He's all grown up now. A Man.
Doing things in his own ways.
I just hope that he remembers
That His Mama can walk for days!

No Distance, Seperate

At times it seems so distant
As love there seems so far
But know this darling always
My heart is where you are

My eyes, always upon you
Through time and space my dear
When I whisper all those words
You’re sure to always hear

As now, I know we’re distant
But, so is the closest star
We still feel close to it’s beauty
So I’m there, just where you are
