“Weeping willow’s silent wail …” — Poet

Dead of night
     thoughts of you
length and breadth
     our derring-do
love overwhelms
     flooding through
emotions swirl
as I cling to you …

When appears the winged goddess Nix
to cast her noctilucent spell
on every creature of the night,
in a sudden hush, fall on the land
a sweet shield of calm and timelessness.

Like a vampire wakes in the darkness
so awakens the old GOP
For they hunger to feed on the taxes
then like rodents, they scatter and flee

They ignore and avoid all their voters
who can never provide what they need
Like the donors who send them the dollars
satisfying their hunger and greed

So they slashed all the life-saving programs
like a horror show bloody with gore
And as long as the People pay taxes
their desire will always be more

Premium Member tears in the dead of night

sounds of violin crying out in the dark
desperate for one solitary ray of moonlight
string along all lost souls who stray in the night

Dead of the night, when we should be asleep,
for reasons unknown, we are wide awake,
feeling chi slide up our spine like a snake,
readying us for a consciousness leap,
even as soma nectar seeps in deep,
as divine love always does, for love’s sake
and as in rapture, nodes within us shake,
unbound is our joy and yet our eyes weep.

How long we remain thus, we cannot say,
for we’re in a zone beyond space and time,
as resounds within, soundless bliss thunder,
revealing light of Self, as clear as day,
signalling to us, soul’s heavenward climb,
witnessed by presence, in childlike wonder.

She is woken by the noise
Of raised voices downstairs
She recognises her husband’s voice
The other she is unaware

She stands and listens
Trying to decipher what’s being said
Though the voices are too mumbled
Yet the anger she hears fills her with dread

As she steps towards the bedroom door
There are no more mumbled words
Just yelling and loud scrambled noises
Then deadly silence is all that can be heard!

In the dead of night
full moon and the sound of bells,
spell awakening.

Dead of Night

Walking down the road
All on your own
No one in sight
In the dead of night
“Get away, get away”
Is all your brain will say
Trudging forward,
All in toward
The place that is known
And you call home
Just a little more distance
But in that instance
You hear a horn
Filled with scorn
Hope drops to the pits
And your heart is in bits
As they pull you back
And though you attack
You do not have the might,
Stolen in the dead of night

Stealth in the dead of night
His advance afloat evanescent waves
Gliding ever so gently
Hovering on a cloud of velvet
Lurking like a thief
His approach on pervading wafts of gardenia
Stealth in the still of night
Under a hazy moon in a starless sky
The brush of his lips on her eyelids
Disturbs her sleep
In the most delectable way
Nudging her senses
As he slips into her dreams
And invades her world
One breath at a time
Shivering whispers
Barely deciphered
And in the morning
Vanishes not a trace
Lest the faint scent of blue gardenia

The bridge is covered, has no light
all who pass over are shaded
eclipsed by day, in dead of night
unseemly notice evaded
by keeping all's well, out of sight.

By Dead of Night

...in a world of over 7 billion inhabitants...sisters and brothers manage to stay away from each other...in matters of the heart, love, and family...thus the darkness, and evil fill in the gaps...

By Dead of Night

By the wind of day and the dead of night
The darkness descends within shadows sight
With hell bound hurts and impetuous ice
Submersible souls with a pandemonius price

Can you see the blind man...starring at his grave
Can you see the shackled man...freed as a slave
The abandoned woman...crying in her cave
The neglected children...that no one wants to save

Sempiternal storms with rambunctious rage
Capturing sacrificial souls in a cadaveric cage
Life eternal hanging on by a sepulchral string
Hibernating humanity with a crucifix cling

Shelter the coldest ones...for they knock at your door
Feed the hungered ones...for they always ask for more
Quench the thirsted ones...bring their lips to the shore
Love the unloved...and see their hearts begin to soar.

...let's make a change

When all the work is done,
And we are finished with all our fun,
When we bid the sun farewell,
And say hello to the moon's brief dwell,
When I finally collapse on my bed,
And try shake away the night time dread,
I will say "Good night to you my friend",
I will see you when this night comes to an end.

Dead of Night

In the dead of night
I was looking for the light.
Finding nothing but the darkness
Engulfing me and my madness

In the dead of night
I won’t go down without a fight.
Fighting these demons in me
That is struggling to be free.

In the dead of night
I was hoping that I might
Break away from this chain
That bonded me with deathlike pain.

In the dead of night
Everything just doesn’t go right...
In the dead of the night,
Will I ever see the light?

In the Dead of Night, For Anacreontic Verse 2 Contest

In the dead of night
The sun is hiding
Replacing blue skies
Black silhouette
Blank canvas
Starry night
Tiny white sparkles
Twinkling brightly
Surrounded by space
Flicker on and off

The time is now dawn
Sun rises
Glorious yellow
A round ball
Shimmering heat felt
Flowers greet
A world of beauty
We destroy every day
Bit by bit
Why I do not know

Close your eyes
Listen to nature
What is it saying?
The birds sing
Both to us
And each other
A robin red breast
Sits by my window
Singing just for me
