summer softly hums
a lullaby as leaves fall
into autumn’s rest
snow will soon blanket all things
in coziness until spring
Silver clouds descend with quiet grace,
?Cast their cool, grey shadows on the land,
?First drops fall find their resting place,
?On sun-baked earth, on thirsty land.
?
?Then from the soil a whisper starts to rise,
?Ancient scent no perfumer can name,
?Petrichor blooms beneath the skies,
?The earth and heaven reclaim their fame.
?
?Stones grow dark, the rivers start to sing,
?Roots drink deep what the heavens give,
?And in that smell, the memory of spring,
?Reminds all living things how good to live.
?
?Let the rain descend, clouds grow deep,
?Let the storm roll in, dark clouds sweep,
?Bring your coziness to my sleep
?For you are earth's most sacred keep.

I like when days are shorter,
Though I know most won’t agree,
But getting out before the sunrise
Seems just right to me.
On winter days I read in bed
Before I venture out.
Yet now, with just one chapter,
There’s a bright blue sky, no doubt.
I miss the oranges and pinks
That make the sky aglow.
It’s like having front row seats
For Nature’s early morning show.
The daylight hours stretch, as well,
So when it’s sunny-bright
At the dinner hour and beyond,
It doesn’t feel like night.
I much prefer the coziness
Of being tucked inside
When the afternoon is slowly
Starting on its evening slide.
Alas, my preferences take hold
For one-half of the year
And to the rules, I have no choice
But simply to adhere.
I consumed it once, to avoid my loneliness.
I felt—wow—euphoric! Was I walking on air?
Was it a celestially blessed coziness?
Wasn't it like being in nature's divine care?
I saw crores of rainbows surrounding my being;
I was sailing silently on a sea of peace.
On clouds of endless ages of time, I was skiing—
Gulfs between deaths and resurrections seemed to cease.
How long will all these last? I did not know. I slept.
What did I find except darkness when I woke up?
Like a child born only to die, I bleakly wept;
There were only slips of lips on my broken cup.
Why chase a ghost and mock your inner need?
Must not the soul break through its binding weed?
Dear Modina Odetunde
A new day for you
A new chapter of your life
Beginning anew
My heart touches on
Fabulous prayer for peace
To strive in fun
Everywhere you are
Even at your home as wife
Be a shinning star!
That always do smile
Giving delight to sky, lease
Sparkling weaves in style
And take the pleasure
To heart with warmest regards
Beyond eyes measure
Reaching out for hue
That suffuse light it presents
To which wonder glue
Admiring nature
Is twice admiring courtyards
Likely adventure
Life is truly good
To live twice young off ailments
Costly livelihood
Full of happiness
In true love and excitement
That please coziness
Through sunrise-sunset
Flowering graceful indictment
Cum birthday asset
Every room in Scotland,
Whether inn or a hotel,
Had a comforter upon the bed
To serve most people well.
It was always white and fluffy,
Meant for coziness, I guess,
And at first, when snuggled under it,
I liked it, I confess.
But I always woke up feeling
Way too warm and yanked it free.
Then I had no means of cover,
Which just doesn’t work for me.
So each night I fought that blanket,
Sometimes off and sometimes on,
Thinking if I’d had a top sheet,
All those problems would be gone.
Now I’m sleeping in my own bed,
Comfy underneath the sheet
And if I’m a little warm, I simply
Kick it off my feet.
As the night drags the shadows from the day
It's time for me to toss and turn into dreamland
It's hazy here
It's snowing
And I'm up on a ledge
The river below says "If you're going to jump in,
it's sink or swim."
A dove flies by and circles and lands on my shoulder
flutters its wings and says
"Do you know what today is?"
"No" I reply
"It's Christmas Eve, Shhh! Listen!
Can you hear the bells pealing,
The violin cries
The melancholy saxophone, and
The carolers singing?"
Then without a sound, a mime dances up to me
Shoe's away the bird and without a word
does a miming of "Another Auld Lang Syne"
With sad face, and gestures of heartbreak
Then he hands me a letter
The letter reads:
"I want to be holding you, watching Christmas movies
on the couch, with snow falling outside
and the coziness of each other fireside
................love Julie
P.S. You know where to find me"
AUTUMN AFTERNOON
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
spice cake on the table
aroma wafts through the air
coziness, tranquility
cup of hot cocoa
warms hands
sipping comforts soul
world slows
gone is hurried pace
time takes reprise
sun hangs low
rays cascade down
golden orb sighs
trees stand tall
leaves ablaze
hues of crimson, amber, and brown
air is crisp
hint of chill
warmth in our embrace
meander along winding path
footfalls crunch fallen leaves
autumn’s scent fills the breeze
world goes by
colors change under the sky
autumn charms
revel in this scene
cherish autumn’s fleeting days
winter is on its way
To tell the truth, I love a booth
When eating in a diner.
You can’t dismiss such coziness
As something you’d call minor.
For it is clear that atmosphere
Adds much to meal-time pleasure
And booth-type seats improve your eats,
At least the way I’d measure.
Be careful, though, for in your row
If someone leaves the table,
You’ll have to rise and leave your fries,
Their exit to enable.
Still, such a nit does not one bit
Make booths lose their attraction.
Their cool appeal grants any meal
A certain satisfaction.
Soft t-shirts, warm flannels, easy to step into
Cozy fleece, light cotton, stretchy elastic waistbands
Comfy nightgowns, flowered pajamas, and a mumu
Retirement encourages a new way to dress
Comfort over class, coziness over chic
Fashion is over the hill now
I live in the country
The only ones who see me are my husband and my dogs
plump posh plush puffy
pretty, poufy, plaid purple pillows
providing cushioned comfort for Cali
enthusiastically enjoyed by boyfriends
encouraging enlightening enthusiasm
for comfort, coziness, and calmness.
Awakened too soon,
Darkness of the peaceful dawn,
Frissons of cold air,
Coziness of the tea mug,
Cooing of doves fills the air.
Glowing green-eyed faerie of spring woods of the west
Your blue hair and tiny horns standing up to every test
I watch you from the coziness of my warm sparrow nest.
Loving you as much as blue jay or little robin red breast.
Raindrops are falling
Wind whistles through the treetops
The heavens are opening
I feed the fire
Feeling a final comfort
Relieved that I arrived home
Monday will be a momentous occasion
Going back to meet old friends
To where we spent eight glorious years
True friends right to the end
Well how fortunate can two people be
To have lived in this happy place
Where everyone knows you and says hello
With a happy smile on their face
A happy place called Utopia comes to mind
Which may seem a bit over the top
Down home coziness is a good description
It expresses this emotion nonstop
Circumstances forced us to leave our friends
An extremely sad time in our lives
To renew the bonds if for only a short while
Old friendships will be revived
