the nordic

The Nordic Tribe
There is a movement of Scandinavians
going to the South of Europe, they have their church,
cafes and shops selling the type of food sold in
the North. The Spaniards, say, accept and ignore them
because these strange northerners came here for
The sun does not take anyone’s work.
You can call the economic refugees; it is cheaper here
and that also keeps the heating bill low.
The people of the North dislike refugees coming to their
country, a place to live, and they protest loudly.
One day, when the economy in the south is on par with
the Nordic one, who will leave, or seek other shores
where they can live as kings among the lesser
The Northerners are racists by nature, but do follow
the money and its fluctuations, and they can
See the local people where they have temporarily
sought shelter as foreigners.

unwritten page

Unwritten page
An unwritten page on a Word processor, I ought to leave it this way
look and dream of what I could have written on the page
If I delete words I have written, the page will be blank again
No history, a crumbled-up sheet of paper for the waste basket
For now, it is too late, but when coming to the end of the sheet
My wife was in Johannesburg for surgery. Born in Congo, she is
Light-skinned, but traveling on a Portuguese passport, she
Boarded a bus for the blacks, great consternation, the police
To go on the bus for the white people
Racism and ignorance, now it is the Muslims who feel the
Ignorance, we want them to be like us, not insist on doing
Their own things
Israel is a racist country, a thistle under the saddle of
And an Arab stallion, and can’t last the way it is ruled
The sheet is fouled by an opinion no one wants to hear
What now, erase the page and write about the moon

Premium Member Trade War

So now it's official:
there is a trade war
between the U.S. and Canada.
Do we really know what for?

The POTUS claims it's about fentanyl
coming over the border,
but that dangerous chemical ain't exactly plentiful
coming out of my country, a land of law and order.

It's just a flimsy excuse;
a way to heap abuse and utter untruths
about a country that will not bow down
to the whims of a pathetic clown.

Sadly, in this situation
between traditionally friendly nations
there will only be tit-for-tat retaliation,
and the economic devastation
will in no way bring validation
to the asinine machinations
of the current U.S. administration.
The Pumpkinfuhrer only wants to sow devastation.
He is truly an abomination
and is now being confronted without hesitation.

His actions have certainly set a serious tone.
"America First" is about to become "America Alone".

Premium Member MORE LIKE THE RAIN

When I look around at a divided country…a divided world
I wish we could all be more like rain…
that falls on everyone and everything equally…
on the people, the mountains, the rivers…and the plains…

For the rain understands
when she falls on everyone equally…
say from Canada to France..
then the lives of everything she touches
will be enriched…improved…enhanced.

Rubbles of a memory

High upon the rubbles, a country shall reign
A generation to continue the lost struggles
And they shall fight, a fight to exist
And that fight shall be to rein and not be obliterated.
Palestinians for the land of Palestine.

High from the mountains, down to the valleys
Far from the river, near to the sea
A country, A promise, A race
Thousands shall perish for the dream
Millions shall live for the dream
That's the seed of the great Olive.

To live or not to leave
When shall it be, when, when, and I ask when?
When all these is over, there shall be a Palestine
Even when all is bombarded, there shall reman a race
When Zion walks away in shame of victory..

But as Zion reigns, Palestine shall never bow or crumble in a stone age
So shall it stands still as rubbles of a memory.

Premium Member Wave Goodbye Comrades

Welcome to the United States

Home of the new Russian empire

Half of you have the impression

That our Democracy should expire

You choose to bow down to some clown

Who touts Vladimir Putin

And you won't be satisfied

Until everyone starts shootin'

If you just want to be a slave

Your future it would behoove

Give our country a final wave

And pack up your guns and move

Jamboree

Jamboree

Young catholic people from far-flung places are arriving
in Lisbon, plain young boys and girls looking sober smiling
and waving to the camera.

Dressed in jeans and T. shirts that say something about peace
no hint of rebellion here, and no drugs needed as they are filled
with the holy spirit.

No uppity youth here, no green hair no torn jeans showing
knees and thighs, and no placard protesting against
the rotten government, the rainbow banner is banned.

In Portugal this is a big deal, people are jubilant fireworks
rock music at the center of Cascais and much beer is drunk
The Pope has promised to pay the country a visit.

It is so nice to see young people in the park when one of them
strum a guitar and they sing a Christian hymn; I walk home
and think what's wrong with me, why do I find this so boring?

Samhain

SAMHAIN – All Hallow’s Eve

(Anapestic tetrameter)

As the evening approaches and darkness surrounds,
When orb spiders are weaving to capture their prey,
then, all over the country, a madness abounds,
Where abnormal behavior is out on display.

On the streets of the suburb an army descends,
To amuse their weird bones for a moment of thrill,
With some tricking and treating their friendship extends,
While their costumes portray an unpleasant death chill.

Though the meaning of this day, is lost on these mobs,
An old Gaelic event brings an end to the crop,
Or beginning of winter with sniffles and sobs,
and the feast of All Saints, ill-designed from the top*.

Yet the death that they honor was with them from birth,
Unaware of its presence while living on earth.

* Pope Gregory 3rd changed the feast day to 1st November which now incorporates some of the traditions of Samhain.

Premium Member The Politics of Politics

When you are a politician, they all want you with fruition
if you were a great magician you would wave a magic wand
When you are a politician you have to watch your diction
if you want to achieve world peace you got to shake their hand

When you are a politician you are oil in a Governed wheel
if you are honest, you won't beg, borrow, nor steal
When you are a politician you honor promises, commitments
if you are successful then everyone wins in dividends

When you are a politician some do love you some do not
keep on doing what your doing, you are not Sir Lancelot
When you are a politician, work with diligence and flair
if you want a better Country then you really have to care.

our Country, a better place...

Premium Member Certify the Guy

Forget transition, just certify, "with dangerous to others" he's qualified. Donald Trump you know it's true, this is what Congress needs to do, and they'll be republicans there, just like you. It will be a non-tweeting zone, as they'll probably take your phone. A place away from White House stress, affording our country a much needed rest. Time for you to quietly reflect on this legacy that you've left, and yes they may alter your brain chemistry but you'll still make history. Donald, we've had just enough, so please go quietly before they cuff.

Without a Doubt

Without a Doubt

I’ve seen your yellow underbelly now
and there’s no denying or going back
a solid moral compass is what you lack
this country torn, breaking bodies bough
with deaths and sorrows piled upon your brow

lying and cheating is what you are about
it’s putting our people into the ground
a civil war is brewing to bring you down
we must fight back with you to end this bout
it’s time to vote for sanity without a doubt

It’s not so hard to do your smallest part
just wear the mask so you and I can pass
would certainly make you less of an ass
and show you have some care kept in your heart
to give your country a bit of a kick start

in sadness and anger I feel ashamed
to watch your racism - hatreds disdain
as white men’s greed carries its ugly stain
I’m glad we’re rising up to stand inflamed
no longer can we heal the wrongs restrained

Premium Member Patriotism

I remember as a little girl when John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Everyone cried, everyone gathered around the TV set waiting for word.
We sang the “Star Spangled Banner,” “God Bless America,” and “Oh Danny Boy,”
(Because, as my Grandfather explained it, the Irish and Americans were united today.)
And my Uncle Ryan and my Grandfather William even wore their uniforms saluting the set.
My Grandfather Luigi said that that was the beauty of this country, a melting pot.
When I looked confused, he explained we were like Grandma Sophia’s Spaghetti dinner:
The sauce was our soldiers, fighting and spilling blood for our freedom,
The pasta were the families at home, providing a framework for the sauce.
The spices were the people of many countries who seek freedom here,
And my grandmother represented the wisdom of our forefathers in combining it all to make something good become great!
To this day I can’t see the flag without shedding a small tear for family I’ve lost, like those old soldiers saluting the TV;
And traditions we’ve lost, like singing patriotic songs together;
But most of all I can’t help but crave my grandma’s melting pot spaghetti!

Jasmine petals fall same as ashes from burnt incense,
Superimposed the demised who lays in hallowed rest,
A jar and vase on a marble stone, near a picket fence,
A man of the Buddhist faith who fought with the best,
Died for his country, a faithful man was truly blessed.

History

Seen through a country, a family or an individual timeline,
Diligence and thrift bear rise while extravagance decline.
Why do we cherish a pillow made of amber?
Why must a cart be inlaid with pearls purer?
It’s hard to find talents when the country is at stake,
And to ward off devils when its foundations quake
How many people read the emperor’s aspirations?
Here I do lament over his unfulfilled ambitions.
