Convictions Poems | Examples

Life Is Good

Thinking is a thing of the past
they see no profit in that
looking on is easier for them
and they'll follow the herd at the drop of a hat
committees are but cash cows for the incompetent
with nothing accomplished at the end of the day
by back-slapping glad-handing
or under the table their cards they play
talking is of days gone by
they view no profit there
watching is the thing to do
and they'll gaze on anywhere
I thought they didn't have the courage
of their convictions big or small
but I was wrong as now I've found
they have none at all
meanwhile
we're out here in the human jungle
bumbling about stumbling around
going in circles jumping up falling down
and life is good or so I'm told
but I don't buy what I'm sold

Premium Member DAILY GRATITUDE COURAGE OF THEIR CONVICTIONS

Today I’m grateful for those who possess the courage of their convictions
whose courage is their cornerstone….
who are not afraid to stand up for what is right…
even if they have to stand alone.

Premium Member THE COURAGE OF OUR CONVICTIONS

May we all be blessed with the courage of our convictions
and may that courage be our cornerstone…
allowing us to stand up for what is right
even if that means we stand alone.

Premium Member Man Without Convictions

Without convictions, a man resembles

an aimlessly sailing boat, in which both the rudder

and

the anchor is missing!

We Are

But One Of Each,

Until Such Time

As Something

Takes Our Place,

 And Yet,

To Know Us One,

Is Not To Know Us All.

While Our Differences

Are Found

In The Strength

Of Our Convictions,

Our Strength

Is Found

In The Truth

Of Our Uncertainty.

Premium Member I Have No Philosophy Just Convictions

Pathos is my validity; for I hear my guides
and I feel them. I follow them, they make up
my Weltanschauung.

Ethos has nothing to do with me;
I have no interest in captivating or compelling
followers or admirers.

Eros was once my go-to place; I have outgrown
her bows and arrows; replacing her with
faith and peace.

An avid ideologist, I have never been interested
in logos of any kind; not once up a time,
not in this lifetime or any other.

Kairos has my full attention for I fall into every
situation that has ever made a difference in my life.
Sometimes being pushed in actually, kicking and screaming.

Philosophy? I do not have any; just a conviction that
entities are speaking to me, and I am grateful to have
the heart and soul to hear.

Premium Member Beverage of Choice

Who wants to hear my latest diatribe
of how the world could stand to be improved?
Or quaff a pint, and hear as we imbibe,
of politics of which I’ve not approved?
Perhaps a glass of vintage Cabernet
would help one hear the stories of my life.
My search for love that doesn’t fly away
and of the dove I asked to be my wife.
Perhaps a fine liqueur might calm the nerves
of him who hears my faith's deepest conviction -
at best, which challenges; at worst, which serves
to drive between two friends a wedge of friction.
My alcoholic beverage of choice -
the pen that gives my heart a sober voice.

Song Lyrics

Maybe our convictions are convictions after all,
They lock us in a prison in our minds.
They keep us from living in this moment.
We’re out of synchronicity---out of present time.

Convicted by convictions, we are prisoners, prisoners.
Living in the past we will never be free
Until we breakout, until we break out,
Open up and live our lives today.

I'm not looking for a pot of gold
At the end of some long road.
Treasures wait around each bend, we can uncover them.
There is no end to the wealth to be discovered
When we break out, break out of our delusions,
Break out, break out of all our past conclusions.
Then we can be free, yes we can be free to live today, today
Let’s live for today.

Maybe our convictions are convictions after all.
They lock us in a prison in our minds.
Each of us are wardens and we hold the key.
There is no one else who can set the prisoner free.

So if we breakout, if we’re willing to breakout
Of past conclusions, our delusions,
Then we can be free
Free to live today
Free to find a better way
No time to waste on blame.
It’s time to break out.
We’ve got to break out.

Premium Member Godly Convictions

God upholds us while we live according to our biblical convictions
Fighting for them against any vain humanistic perspective
Along allurements packed by lust and deceit’s intentions…
In following His instructions toward heavenly directive.

God blesses our convictions while we lean unto His understanding
Vanquishing falsity along with attacking ignorance
Since His wisdom chastens and corrects our hypocrisy’s pretending…
So we can stay humble under His omniscience-endurance.

*Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

Premium Member Convictions of Youth

I accept Death's finality,
it's been a while since I believed.
I've lost my convictions of youth,
viewing Faith through cynical eyes.

It's been a while since I believed;
my prayers dwindled to a few.
Viewing Faith through cynical eyes;
I foresee what the future holds.

My prayers dwindled to a few;
it's hard to accept, but it's true.
I foresee what the future holds
now that my life's nearing its end.

It's hard to accept, but it's true;
Faith is a transitory state.
Now that my life's nearing its end,
I don't believe there is a God.

Faith is a transitory state,
I've lost my convictions of youth.
I don't believe there is a God,
I accept Death's finality.

Convictions

It seems to be so odd to me
The way we accept these casualties
They fall before our very eyes
And somehow we just walk on by
We avert our stares, we turn our heads
Oblivious that we stand on a ledge
Unaware of our own mortality
Seeking to mesh with normality
Lost and wayward, pretending to know
Exactly where we're trying to go
Inappropriate, incognito, in denial
Those who are judged are placed on trial
Without even knowing the crime
In daily life we serve our time

Do You Hold Your Convictions

Do you hold your convictions well
And have to oblige for others to tell
Your favourite story for all to see
And want others to believe to be

But tolerance is the issue for all in the world
To not force your beliefs as they are held
I think this is the operative story
Tolerance and harmony the glory.

Wrong Convictions

My young daughter
Can take care
Of herself
But she does not
Whereas my
Old age mother
Can’t take care
Of herself
But still she does
Why so
because of wrong convictions
towards life
that are taught to us

Premium Member Convictions and Visuals

The difference between
the carnal and the spiritual,
has as much to do with
convictions as does visuals.

The Carnal's favorite epithet:
I will believe in it when I see it.
Living as a mere fleck in the universe
his chances of vision grow steadily worse.

While Spiritual cling to holy writ:
I will see it because I believe it.
With the number of faiths available,
all options, it seems, are on the table.
