Who wants to hear my latest diatribe of how the world could stand to be improved? Or quaff a pint, and hear as we imbibe, of politics of which I’ve not approved? Perhaps a glass of vintage Cabernet would help one hear the stories of my life. My search for love that doesn’t fly away and of the dove I asked to be my wife. Perhaps a fine liqueur might calm the nerves of him who hears my faith's deepest conviction - at best, which challenges; at worst, which serves to drive between two friends a wedge of friction. My alcoholic beverage of choice - the pen that gives my heart a sober voice.

John, this would be my second choice (as I go through your sonnets) for what to send in to a contest. I had read this one before and really liked it! I notice in the comment i wrote you on this one earlier that I felt the one for your sister had more emotion; whereas this was better crafted. Will have to take a look again at the one for your sister!

I can see how words flowing from a pen could be viewed as a beverage, John. A very nice sonnet! Congratulations on your win, Carolyn

Love the title too. I thought it was actually going to BE about favorite beverages. I have written several food sonnets since I love food so much!

Of the three I just read, I think this one might possibly be the best crafted. However, I got the best emotion from the ones about your sister and I can tell how much you love her from those sonnets on her. This one has an excellent final line, the ending couplet being the much needed finishing touch on a sonnet! Keep on with your magic sonnet pen, my friend.

Thank you very much, I'm humbled! I agree about good ending couplet being an essential part of a strong sonnet. I always appreciate your generously worded encouragement. Hugs ~ John
