A Contemporary Haiku

A contemporary haiku-
ah! love and hate
rating high.
scent and lippy sealed
grey ruled cream virgin paper
written love sprawls kiss
(NB whilst this is a contemporary haiku and is not ordinarily titled, it is titled in order to catalogue and find easily.)
If I were Hansel, you would be my Gretel. If I were Jaime, you would be my Cersei. If I were your brother, you would be my beloved sister. “You have stolen my heart, my sister, my bride; you have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace. How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much more pleasing is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your perfume more than any spice!”* Alas, you never liked the fantasies of ancient incestuous hymns, preferring the realism of contemporary haiku:
okay, a quickie
but then we go see my mom
and dad anyway

the harvesting moon
reflects none of its corners

the setting full moon
reflecting all its corners

in a world at war ~
school bell rings
in a war-torn town
where a child screams for his mom. . .
a school bell rings
(I've removed this revision for Catie from the contest and am using the tanka above it on my poetry page!)

For the Haiku from the Heart Contest
Submitted by Ann Roske
Form : contemporary haiku
3-6-3 format
We've had a really wet and weird winter and have 4 white oaks that have fallen over on the back of our property. It is sad to see them go down, but Mother Earth will reclaim and re-purpose them. This is my small tribute to that wonderful and mysterious process - circle of life.
