In the chambers where thoughts are supposed to
roam free, Foreign voices echo, not belonging to me.
Words planted like flags on conquered territory,
Thoughts that flower in soil not my own.
I speak in tongues my ancestors never knew,
See through lenses ground by hands I never touched.
My dreams are shaped by stories I did not choose,
Yet they feel like home—this borrowed architecture of mind.
Each mirror shows a face divided by history,
Each thought arrives pre-weighted, pre-judged.
I sift through my beliefs like archeological remains,
Wondering which are artifacts of occupation.
The borders of my thinking are invisible chains,
Drawn by mapmakers who never asked permission.
Yet in the margins of these imposed paragraphs,
I find spaces where resistance takes root.
For even a colonized mind can question its borders,
Can recognize the foreign footprints across its landscape.
And in that recognition lies the seed of reclamation—
The first step toward a sovereignty of thought.????????????????

I am human with the same dignity and power,
then why treat me like an alien?
Our skincolour differs, but we are all created and designed by one God and maker.
I have great potentials just like the white man,
But I am treated and rejected just because of my colour.
I undergo physical, emotional and social discrimination and suppression,
Just because my skin colour is black.
I have been enslaved and colonized by a foreign master,
Beaten and suppressed to accept a foreign rule,
Discriminated because of my elegant black beauty.
Striving to live and survive in this dominating world,
But all efforts seems futile.
I will continue to make efforts and see that my skin colour is appreciated and upheld in the society at large.

Hawaii, my birthplace, and hometown
Fell victim of being colonized and uprooted
Those dirty rats ceased the cheese
By the 1900's the U.S annexed the territory
In other words, Hawaii was taken by force
And without consent
It's like the dirty rats came in and flexed their muscle
Much to the heartache and protest of the natives
Those disease-carrying rodents overthrew the kingdom
Queen Liliuokalani was forced to abdicate
A cultural genocide took root
The teachings of Hawaiian in schools wiped out
Housing and land requisitioned and displaced by military bases
And the underbelly of those dirty rats grew and grew
Today Hawaii is still a tropical paradise
Tourists flock to the island in droves
There are palm trees and sandy beaches everywhere
But it's the whispers and echoes of the natives
Pointing a finger at the dirty rats
And bemoaning their freedom and the 50th star on the flag
That will be forever lost
N/A-Another one. What else is new? I should go back to playing checkers.

The Europeans colonized
middle earth and Africa
as their God given right
America built on the labour
of African slaves
Indigenous killed
murdered, and slaughtered
then laughed at
some of you still live in this world
others though, through the eyes of history
have admitted
if not confessed, the evil deeds
now you see children burned alive
in hospital tents, on purpose
and for that
they are your new enemy

Greece and Ethiopia have had unwavering and unbroken
bonds of friendship since ancient times.
Greece is the land of freedom and democracy, also one of the pillars
of worldwide civilization in all sectors
{philosophy, poetry , art etc.}
The great ancient Greek poet HOMER is frequently refereed to Ethiopia
in his masterpiece ILIAD.
Even the name Ethiopia comes from an ancient Greek word
{Aithiops} which means a sun-burnt face.
The source of the blue NILE is in Ethiopia, the only country
in Africa which was never colonized by western powers, with
its own ancient language:{Amharic} and history.
The predominant religion of Ethiopia is Christianity which was propagated
by Apostol Mathias. God Bless Greece and Ethiopia!!

Colonized by pride
Admonished against downfall pain
My heart agonizes --- finding love's freedom...
Persevering to be liberated from gripping arrogance
Mind of paradigm-shift takes a look at this warning sign
“Beware of a lurking great fatal stride.”
While admitting angst as a boastful prisoner
In meekness, I seek divine guidance midst prayer...
Conquering vain haughtiness, smitten by grace and mercy.
Midst sobriety, I repent from projecting false humility
Hiding shaky fortitude upon timidity’s pretense
With faith in God* of triumphant bliss, marked by grateful praise.
*Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

For those who qualify for this costly trip,
permits will be given for travel to the moon.
Friends, family, or lovers may apply as a unit
for this one and only “out-of-the-world” experience
lasting no more than one week.
Since the moon has already been colonized
by the greatest of our world’s minds,
moon vacations are comparable to
educational fun field trips where folks
will view mankind’s unique adjustment to moon life.
To qualify, people must pass a test
involving simulation of space travel.
Both adults and children must also pass a test
determining their ability to cope with the experience.
Those with criminal records need not apply.
Having qualified, my husband and I enter daily
free lotteries within our designated small region.
With a chance of one out of a thousand each day,
we figure we will get our trip before we die.
We can’t wait to view earth from the moon!

We whimsically wondered why
wandered victims by
and through our uniquely human history
of sexual trauma
and therapeutic politics
Mythically hinting
hunting
poly-resonant
mono-vulnerable
half full, half empty
gendered pantheology
Spanning spies discovering economic magic
denies political monoculturing tragic
outcomes for godlike monolithic
monotheistic empire-building
Wherein straight white males
disproportionatly championed
a revengeful
and punishing MonoPolistic Judge
polarizing One-1 omnipotent God
While unstraight
unwhite
unmasculine
marginalized
enslaved
and colonized
Would restore Mother Eartha's original
nurturing conservational economy
Nutritional ecosystemic politics
for wellness-natured spirits
Advocating sexual polytheistic immanence
imploring sacred not yet empty
circling recycling interdependence
inspiraling half-full health
pregnant with potential
sacred safety
half-empty zero-0 wombed
regeneratively polytheistic.

Torrents of thoughts torment me
Floodgate of distractions rack my soul
Avalanche of delusions
Decapitate my mental faculty
As I muse over the degeneration
That has dogged my beloved country
She manifests every aspect
Of a failed state
The giant of Africa has lost control
Of her Territory to terrorists
Bandits have re-colonized my fatherland
Kidnappers strike terror into the hearts
Of weary and hapless Nigerians
While her economy continues to
Stumble and wobble with ignominy
In the hands of oil thieves
The ancient perpetrators of
rape
Against our father land
Are shamelessly like vultures
Gathering and flying over
The carcass of the comatose nation
To gang-rape her to death
Arise fellow Nigerians and stand firm
Let us take our country back
From chaos to path of sanity

The time of innocence
We grew up thinking whiteness had to do
with skin colour, since we came from a Nordic country
this made sense; the lack of sun and so on.
Now it is political.
Whiteness is responsible for all ills in the world
a good thing to remember when getting up at six
walking to the fish factory, putting in long hours
for a meagre pay packet.
We know of the intrepid, who colonized the East
and Africa, we did not benefit from this other
then asked to give our hard-earned money to
a religious mission to help the starving.
We resent being called racist, we were as poor
as those we sent money to; at a time when we had
to steal coal at the railway depot and plunder
potatoes in a farmer’s field.
Great composers, noted scientists, inventors and
prodigious writers were white contributed to
their skills to make life bearable; yes, we are
proud of them and feel no guilt in our whiteness.

A scrap of ore breaks surface.
The metallic pebble is already colonized
by moss and fungi factories,
in a millennia rocks will churn
a green spawn into small rural towns.
Fields of new growth
must be planted in microscopic slime.
The Shawnee come and go,
as fireflies on a summer night they pass,
raw boned settlers,
add their calcium to the earth.
Small time-seeded towns sprout.
Hands work wood, stone, then brick.
More foundational pebbles are unearthed
Tornadoes clear the land, reconstructed
malls ride the roads.
Antique stores blossom in the dust.
Art galleries and cake shops
vie for customers, donuts triumph.
Arts and crafts stores signal the end
of old railway lines.
Cities of iron and coal bud and blight.
The moss returns and flourishes.

SKY ROCATING
Birds in the sky
Fly high
My ancestors cry
For my past is burnt
The sky is blue
But the wild is burning
The woods colonized by orange flames
Green pasture is no more
Compassion is no more
Birds are now flown by wind of starvation
Only mother's love prevail
To keep the generation rolling
Will I hope with hope any More
When my home your fires devour?
Will the birds ever sing their happy songs
Yet their eggs and nest devoured in smoke?
oh heavens!
May you look upon our sweet sweat
And smother theses flames
With the cloud of rain
To chase the old sea zone
And welcome the new season

When I've seen all the seven wonders,
And sailed beyond rainbow’s end.
When I’ve crossed the lost horizon
And discover Nirvana, again.
When I’ve conquered El Dorado.
When I reign in Shangri-La.
When I’ve colonized Utopia,
And claim hegemony in Oz.
When I’ve slain these restless demons
That give chase to the sun and the moon,
I’ll be back where I started, a pilgrim come home,
With the bells of Saint Mary’s chiming at noon.

For Anthony Biaanco
Blue Hole Poetry Contest
2nd June 2021
Oh
Blue Hole
Whence throughout
Silver moon doth now appear
On the strike of dream o'clock
falling drifting into sleep
The reason forth has come to appear
Is because it has been opened up
By squirrels burrowing , scratching
holes like cat's trapped upon a
hot tin roof
In order to silhouette a shadow
puppet show
To dance and tell the tale
Of a Hole so Blue
Much like what the earth
used to be
Before it was taken over
by and colonized by us
human beings
Now ever increasingly fast
becoming whole not hole
Imploding fading from
Blue back to Black

Oh what a nation
A den of fools
A tribal cage
A religious hell
The dead conscience
The bewitched minds
The colonized culture
The enslaved souls
Oh what a nation
Africa my poor nation
A land of disunity
Void of humanity
