The kind of film most women love to see
is all about romance, thus women pick
a type of show that paints the fantasy
of love sublime, so it’s dubbed a chick flick.
I like the fun ones and the sad ones too,
but there’s another genre I like more!
Though dramas with great plot will always do,
there is one type of drama I adore!
There’s nothing like good horror and suspense.
Inside the theater there is a hush
as tension builds, and feelings grow intense,
for your adrenaline will get a rush!
The films like Hitchcock made I never missed.
I love a scary movie with a twist!
July 19, 2017 for the S Form contest of Broken Wings:
Sonnet form. Chosen word: Scary
as the credits scroll
a bee-line for the toilette
runny mascara
Just quit nagging ‘bout my time in the loo
Or I’ll deck you with that weird platform shoe
Yes, I like to read there, it’s the only quiet place
And the “scenery” is better than that look upon your face
Instead of complaining, make me some breakfast
Heaven knows why my heart you once possessed
Lord, what will this evening have in store
You think I’m gonna watch that chick flick once more
I’ve a better idea; the guys will be here soon
If you reveal my poker hand, I’ll send you to the moon
So warm up some treats and send the kids packin’
It’s bottle-by-bottle the booze I’ll be stackin’
Give me a break and take off that frilly dress
By the time the game’s over, the house will be a mess
And it’s all yours to clean, my ever-loving spouse
If the house isn’t tidy, you’ll hear me grouse
So take a load off now, while you still can
That load you carry needs a moving van
If you find me ill-tempered, then just take a hint
Bounce out that door with the pace of a sprint

Hello and how have you been
Giving tight hugs to a friend
Catching up over some drinks
Watching and giving some winks
To some cuties at the bar
But it doesn't go to far
Just some fun and harmless flirting
So there is no pain or hurting
great food from a friendly waitress
That is flavorful--not tasteless
Full and not too drunk to see
A sweet romantic comedy
A chick flick that makes you smile
It has been too long a while
Since you had a day like this
With friends that you really miss
It's been special and so grand
But your scattered through the land
And can't see each other much
Making sure you stay in touch
And not lose this special bond
Of a friendship that is fond
To be this close as it feels
No friendship could be more real
You are quiet, yes, but not alone
You crept into the library at night
Snuck out to the cinema to enjoy a B-grade sci-fi - or even a cheesy chick flick
You were among others who enjoyed your company
Not consciously, no, but there was a connection under that layer of thought
You thought you could perhaps crawl under the smoky haze
Take a drag once a while - it smells great! - but never enough to be lost in it
To be blinded by it
You were just one of those people sitting by yourself at the back of the cinema
Hoping for a dip in the ocean but never a full plunge
I hope you'll hold my hand while we jump in together
Shall we go for lunch?
(Dedicated to someone I care for dearly :)
I fall beneath the clouds,
into the ground,
I'm reaching the peak,
of frustration and despair,
So don't ask me why,
I'm crying my heart out,
on a chick flick movie,
Don't ask me to ride a yellow bus with you,
When I don't look out the window anymore,
I wake up every morning,
and she's laying awake beside me,
her arms are pulled against each other,
pushed against her chest,
Trying to retain whatever is growing inside,
There ain't no handcuffs,
It's all inside my head,
It's a tricky game played,
She asked me " where you wish to be"
I wish I had a right answer,
But I have no place till now,
that I can call home,
Is it wrong,
to count the days left for us to leave,
back where she fell into silent sleep,
back where she feels home,
I wish I could drive her home,
and be on my own,
I've been holding in myself to the deep,
But it's hard not to fall apart,
when all she's doing,
is breaking into despair.
I think they should change the wedding vows
We'll keep honor and obey
But I have a few of my own to add
And here is what they'd say
Do you promise to tell this man
He's as handsome as can be
And will you let him watch his football
Every Sunday on tv
An will you promise everyday
To make him breakfast in bed
And put your mom in a old folk's home
When she wants to move in instead
Do you promise to rub his feet
Every night when he gets home
And bring him the evening paper
While he relaxes on the throne
Will you promise not to ask him
If you're gettin fat
Will you let him hide the credit cards
And not ask him where they're at
And promise when he tells you no
You'll never ask him why
Don't make him watch a chick flick
And never ever cry
If they'd use these words I've added
It could change our life
I'd be the perfect husband
And you, the perfect wife
I've tried to make a list
Of the seven deadly sins
Now pay very close attention
To where this list begins
The number one sin
Much worse than them all
Is never marry a woman
Til you meet your mother-in-law
The number two sin
Is almost just as bad
Never say, "Who's the father?"
When you become a dad
The number three sin
Is probably very well known
Never forget your magazine
When going to the throne
The number four sin
Unless you've hidden the bat
Never tell your wife
She might be getting fat
The number five sin
When it's time to watch the super bowl
Never let your chick flick wife
Get the remote control
The number six sin
And this one I'll repeat
Before you leave the bathroom
Put down the toliet seat
The number seven sin
Last but certainly not least
Never tell you wife
Your paycheck has increased
If you commit just one of these
Not only will you fail
But life is over as you know it
For she'll make your life pure well, ( you know )
I love the way she looks at me
When we go out for a walk
I love how she just listens
And always lets me talk
I love the way she lets me choose
What we'll watch on our TV
And when I leave to go to work
I know she'll be missing me
I never see her mother
The way it's supposed to be
She never wants my credit cards
And that's just fine with me
She never tells me what to do
Like taking out the trash
Or if she see a sale somewhere
She never asks for cash
We never watch a chick flick
She lets me be a man
So I run my fingers thru her hair
Just as often as I can
I know we'll be together
Until the very end
I know that she'll be faithful
For she is my best friend
A love like this is very rare
And often hard to find
Can you tell I love my dog
She's really one of a kind
